The pre-Margarito, Cotto would outbox and eventually KO Vic. The current Cotto would still outbox and possibly KO Vic.
Cotto looks bad against fighters who have good defense, pressure fighters and fighters faster then himself which none of those are Vic. Cotto is a better boxer, bigger puncher, more experienced fighter and has a jab and hard body shots that will slowly make Vic quit.
Vic barely beat Berto and Berto was just a media hyped fighter to help push the new generation of young fighters. Cotto has been in with the best and has looked really good or had spurts where he looked good in ALL his fights.
Mayweather/Marquez is worse because it was suppose to be a catch weight of 144lbs and Money didn't even make weight. Not to mention JMM is a LW, 2 divisions below. On the night of the fight, May refused to weigh in so by fight time I would guess he was at least 10lbs heavier.
People **** on Mosley cause he didn't look good his last 2 fights. They say he was too old against Mayweather and Mora. Mayweather was just the superior boxer and would have beat Shane whether he was prime or not. Yes, Mosley didn't look so good against Mora but first off, Mora didn't even make weight at '54 and Shane isn't even a '54 fighter to begin with. Even so I still think Shane did enough to win that fight. I wasn't complaining when it was a draw because it was a boring fight but I believe Mosley did just enough to get the nod.
Yes, Clottey is bigger, stronger and has better defense to go with a solid jab that will slowly break down Vic. Both of their heart's are questionable but I'd still give the edge to Clottey due to more solid fundamentals.
I guess the old saying "You're only as good as your last fight." is true. Yes, I agree, Clottey stunk it up against Pac and looked bad. But why can't it be that Pac was just that good instead of Clottey being that bad? Everyone knows hes a massive WW, so the cut to '47 probably had a bit of a roll on his conditioning.
What about his fights against Cotto and Judah? He looked pretty damn good there. If you guys think the Clottey that showed up against Pac is gonna be the same Clottey against Vic, think again cause Pac and Vic fight nothing alike. Clottey taps that ass and boxes Vic's head off all night!
Black dude can't fight for shit either. lol
lol I was thinking the same. The black dude throws chopping girly punches. Not to mention those 2 guys were small dudes and the Black guy looked jacked.
So what?
The pinoys are going for manny because he's yellow.
Got that right! They will forever hang off his nuts. It's not just the Pinoy's, it's pretty much all the Asian's are behind Pac. Win or lose.
You can't say the same about black fighters. There to busy hating on each other. I thought Afro Americans knew their roots came from Africa so why try to separate/differentiate themselves from Africans?
Why boycott this fight? Who else at '47 if a worthy apponent besides Mayweather? Mosley is the closest to it so I never got the hate.
Berto/Ortiz confirmed Berto wasn't ready for Pac. People complain how unfair it is if JMM comes up to '47 to fight Pac. We all saw how Bradley did at '47 and he has unfinished business with Khan. Really I can't think of any other fighter at this moment to fight Pac.
I got to agree with the thread starter. For the most part African American fighters are boring. Well actually not African Americans but the 'African American slick style' they like to use to differentiate themselves from other fighters.
Hey if Hopkins uses the race card why not anyone else? Are AA's good and avoid getting hit? Sure they do a great job of that but there boring as ****. Can't deny that.
What's with all the Jessie Vargas hype? I know its just sparring but Vargas looked too stationary, no head movement and pretty flat footed. The other guy boxed his head off!
Canada consistently sucks.
Steve Molitor was hyped up and got destroyed by Cabalero and was never the same.
Jean Pascal got schooled two times in a row by old man Hopkins
David Lemieux was supposed to be the next best thing @ middle and he got out-foxed by a B level fighter in Rubio.
I'm sure I could think of more, too.
Na you really can't think of anymore because Canada has none outside of those guys you just named and the ones you did name are all B level or lower fighters.
Damn straight! Jean Pascal is absolute garbage! Its not just him, its pretty much ALL Canadian boxers. They fight like amateurs. They just run around thinking there moving well and they rush in with a big flurry to try to steal rounds.
I'm Canadian myself and I'm damn embarrassed of the guy. The guy has no real skill and how he became World Champion is beyond me.
Canada has no good fighters period. Them having a bad year is expected. So I would have to go with Puerto Rico since they actually have skilled quality guys!
Im a big fan of Sergio Martinez and I do agree that Pacquiao has been cherry picking his last few fights. But he shouldn't talk. His last fight although impressive was against a guy nobody really seen who wasn't even a top Jr. MW masking himself as a full fledged MW. Yet everyone started hanging off his balls pushing for him to be number 1 P4P off that win. Its like Pacquiao completely dominating and knocking out Andriy Kotelnik.
He is the one picking his opponent if hes trying to pick a guy 2 weight divisions below him that really is a Jr. WW. Martinez should be trying to fight Ward and Bute.
B-Hop should've won the first fight but glad he got this one. Canadian boxers are absolute garbage! Jean Pascal has no real skill. Just a power puncher who rushes in throwing wild punches to steal rounds like he did against Dawson. Dawson would tax that ass easily in a rematch!
Some of you guys need to relax. Its a tune up fight to keep off any ring rust when JMM prepares for Pac in the Fall/Winter. Its a solid fight against a former World champ plus he's a southpaw.
Roach has a point. But when speaking of a toilet, this is the same shyt different restroom.
On that same note, Pacs skills go down the toilet when fighting a defensive counterpuncher or when the topic of blood and needles are mentioned.
At the end of the day Roach is an awesome trainer and I'm glad Floyd is off the P4P list. Its only fair. This still doesn't change the fact that Pacs been selecting certain fighters at certain weight classes at certain weights.
As of late Pacs toilet has already been flushed as it was proven to be full of shyt. Next up a LW at 147 when Pac wouldn't even fight a WW title holder at WW....
Yes, all of Pac's opponents are carefully hand selected. I agree. But what are Floyd's? He has 2 fights in the last 3 years against Mosley and JMM.
And who say's Mayweather fought the better version of Shane? Shane was coming into that fight not having fought for over a year (ring rust?) and then training early for Berto (over trained) and having the fight get cancelled so he can take on Money.
At that time Mosley was still the best option out there for Mayweather so good for him for taking that fight and wiping him out in every round after he got rocked. You're complaining about all of Pac's opponents? Apparently there is no good 'Slick African American' fighter out there.
Andre Berto v Victor Ortiz proved Berto wasn't ready and would get KO'd by Pac. Victor Ortiz at the time was known as a quitter with no heart and would still get KO'd then and now. JMM is too small at '47. Timmy didn't look to impressive at '47 and has unfinished business with Khan at '40. So really, who outside of Mayweather would be a good fight for Pac? Mosley seems like the next best thing even though he's passed it.
