Yes it is an impressive feat, but if im not mistaken, pac and may were amatuer boxers at 16 and both weighed 106 pounds, so mayweather justgot bigger faster? I justdont see wats so great about wat may already has done. ( beat oscar, Hatton, and now mosley)
It's because years before De La Hoya fight nobody would have imagined Pacquiao fighting these guys. It was laughable.
It's easy for you to look back now and think otherwise.
Now Pacquiao's name is even mentioned as one of Martinez's possible opponents!
But thats not wat im talkin about, im talking about the sheer fact that when mayweather beat these guys they were to old and weight drained, and then when paquiao beats them, not a word is mentioned about them being old or weigt drained, im sure u can find an article somewhere online saying that they are to told but bottom line floyd won and was criticized, pac beat the same exact old opponents a year later and he receieves praise.
Think of the circumstances when Pac fought these guys.
He is a career featherweight.
They were good wins for Mayweather too.
Its doesnt matter if he is a career featherweight, he came in at the weight he was supposed to, its not like he was 123 pounds fighting a 155 pound oscar, all im saying is pac beat them long after may did, and he recieved much more credit for them, granted he did win them more concvingly, i just dont understand why pac is being held to such A high standard when 2 of his last 5, ( soon to be 3 of 6 ) Opponents have already been beat by mayweather
Fighting out of your natural weight division is an impressive feat, if you don't see that then there's not much more I can tell you.
To the average person, boxing is a barbaric sport where two uncivilised men try to render each other bloody and unconscious. People associate boxing with violence, long term brain damage and even death.
The way Pacquiao fights reinforced this ugly stereotype. He is a crude brawler looking to destroy and hunt down his opponents like prey. All people see is blood and violence. As a result this turns away many casual and potential fans from the wonderful sport of boxing.
Mayweather is an exception. He has shown that boxing can be beautiful. The subtle feints, accurate movements and the grace of a ballet dancer, his athleticism takes the sport to a whole new level.
Potential fans to the sport appreciate his skill levels and how he is able to outsmart his rivals. Mayweather can bring in many new fans to boxing - he is the face of out sport and we need him now more than ever to keep boxing alive.
This is one of the gayest things I've read on NSB.
I was a massive Pac fan, an admission.. I turned down a 3some with 2 hot japanese chicks to catch the Pac/Cotto fight.
Kind of got bored after Cotto, never watched Clottey and just saw a repeat of Margo. Not interested in seeing him beat up an old Mosley(as long as he trains properly this time), Pac should have fought Berto imo
I just remember how SRL lost the true boxing fans by the time he fought Hearns 2, would hate to see that with Pac. Arum's milking is worse than King in some respects.
Yeah I know how you feel, I've turned down so many 3somes because of Pacquiao it's getting ridiculous.
Ducking corrie sanders rematch
ducking a prime lamont brewster rematch
ducking john ruiz
giving a title defense to danny williams and shannon briggs
handpicking opponents
jabbing and grabbing
fighting like a clumsy robot
quitting against a feather fisted boxer with only 2 rounds left
asking a 40 year old boxer to come out of retirement to rematch you when he almost killed you
....
Are the Klitschkos considered to be one entity or are they viewed as separate boxers?
:haha:
Well being rational your point is moot. It was Floyd's biggest fight because Mosley was comming off an impressive win against Margarito. It's Pacquiao's worst fight because he's fighting a guy who aside from being old, is shot and has not looked any good in 2 years. Does it make sense to you?
Mayweather fought Mosley 8 months ago.
Are you saying Floyd's biggest fight was with an old, shot guy that hasn't looked good in 2 years?
In 1993, If someone told me that 18 years later there will be pictures of Roy Jones being out cold on the canvass face first and Bernard Hopkins would be doing press ups between rounds on his way to beating the #1 Ranked guy at LHW I would have laughed myself to death.
It's a strange type of sad poetic justice that Hopkins makes history on the same night boxing retires Roy.
The beauty and brutality of boxing.
When the draw with Peterson was announced, Victor's reaction was strange. He didn't even seem disappointed.
It's similar to his loss to Maidana at the post fight press conference he was laughing and joking around, that too was strange IMO.
I remember reading in an old issue of ring magazine he was considered to be one of the top 10 guys Pacquiao could have fought - much has changed since then.
hahhaha u just mad ugly boy ployd is scurrred how does it feel? ur favourite fighter is a coward? hahaha :boxing:
I think the problem is you're trying a little too hard to troll - the best thing to do is make it believable.
I thought it was cool that he walked away before Williams even hit the ground.
Not to bash the UFC but I don't like it when a guy clearly knocked out and is getting punched in the head while on the ground.
Sergio didn't look too shocked when Paul got KO'd
In fact he started walking away before Williams even hit the ground.
That sir, is badass.
