Zab....why won't you call out Ortiz?
We know Khan is the money man right now...but Ortiz is maturing and pretty much soon to be a p4p fighter.
Before 2011 is done....Ortiz is top 10, maybe top 5 p4p. Quote me now.
Yeah Alis the goat I never said Floyd was greater than him.
Floyds fought Corrales, castillo, hernandez, Judah, DLH and Mosley.
Floyd is a different fighter to Morales with different skills.
Floyd is a warrior in his own right.
I think Floyd is skilled and all...but he doesn't belong in the same sentence as Ali and Morales.
Erik is one of the greatest fighters of all time...and certainly the most dominant super bantamweight we've ever seen. He's arguably a top 15 or 20 ATG, and top 5 post-world war II era.
Floyd was skilled like the best of em...but never challenged himself...save for moving up to 150+ to fight DLH...who was already a part time fighter and about 10 yrs removed from absolute prime.
Too many roadblocks. I've also accepted that I don't care much for the fight anymore. Imagine all the foreplay in the world, in bed with Scarlett johanssen or somebody hot...you're rock hard and ready to go...and she just keeps wanting foreplay.
I'd leave too. F this fight. Let fans of both fighters think Whatever they want.
And don't get it twisted....Floyd feels exactly the same way Manny does. Neither of them care much whether the fight happens or not.
Nothing's gonna change.
Amir Khan is well on his way to replacing Floyd as the "money" excuse guy, and that'll allow him to duck absolutely anyone who asks for a cent over 20%.
Nothing's gonna change, guys. Thanks to GBP and Amir Khan.
Now I love MMA, don't get me wrong, but I hate how most MMA fans label MMA as the superior 'fighting' sport. Excuse me, but the last time I checked, hitting someone while they are on the floor is a ***** move. The only time I ever see people kick in fights is when girls get it on, or 8 chavs are kicking a defenceless man to death.
In a real street fight...
...Rules are what separate a man on man fight...
I Don't know what "streets" you're from...but there are absolutely NO rules in street fights..written or implied. NONE whatsoever.
Biting, kicking, elbows, spitting, eye gouging, knives, guns, bats, blunt objects, makeshift knives....ANYTHING goes.
And in a fight where anything goes..boxing ain't doing you any good, buddy.
In a street fight, the only discipline of fighting that'll help you is self-defense techniques. Krav Maga for example, where you learn to defend against guns, knives, and basically all forms of attacks, is exponentially superior to boxing and BJJ in 99% of street fights.
again...Floyd never said that Arum/Manny DIDN'T agree either. He was simply on vacation and there weren't any negotiations...and he wasn't thinking about boxing.
take the statements for what they are.
anyone who knows a little bit about boxing knows that a 151-lb catchweight is not "weight draining" Margarito.
Margo has only fought at 154 ONE TIME in the past 5 years...the rest were at the WW limit.
Margo will have absolutely no trouble making weight.
There's several reasons to not like this fight......the catchweight isn't one of them...since it hardly affects either fighter.
bless u man... he was champ @ 126 yes...
but his reign was from the 70s @ that weight! & the weight division he truly made damage was @ 130!
you're right. thanks for clearing that up.

Wrestling is what's ruining MMA and the UFC. I can't believe MMA fans defend it. What is manly about dragging a man down by his legs and then jumping on his back to perform a submission? Real men stand and trade punches. Real men don't fight on the floor, and if it does go to the floor, they look to get up.
Couture didn't have to box with Toney, but he could have showed some balls and stood toe to toe with him for a couple of minutes. Toney only knows boxing. If MMA is so superior, why didn't Couture use some leg kicks, elbows, or knees on the inside? I'll tell you why, because Toney would have rolled with anything that Couture threw, and replied with several counter punches. That is because boxing >>> any form of martial art. Screw wrestling. And f**k MMA too, until someone from that world has the balls to challenge a top boxer to a no takedown/submission match. I'm guessing the boxer comes out on top.
how old are you that you're talking all this "real men" nonsense? You can't be past your teens...and certainly not past your 20s.
A street fight can turn into a life or death situation instantly. If you're talking about a "semi-organized" one on one fight...then yeah, boxing might help. But that's not a street fight.
NO RULES apply to street fights.
really now? was there a contract then?
or are you taking bob arum's "promise" to margarito as fact?
exactly.
no contract = NOT set in stone. promises are broken all the time in boxing.
Floyd promises action-packed fights and knockouts...lol.
Khan's gonna be waaaay too skilled now. His chin is still suspect, but it'll only be open for much better boxers than Maidana.
Khan wins UD. But I'd put some money on a ref-stoppage from cuts/bruises/swelling to Chino's face around the 9th.
I say Khan has the combination of boxing skill, speed advantage, and jab to win this fight rather easily.
Just stay away and jab while moving backwards. Maidana would have to completely smother Khan from the opening bell and land a shot to win. Chino's window is probably the first 4 rounds.
Khan can fight smart and he'll win UD....if he gets brave towards the end...9th rd TKO.
Something I've wondered: What if Khan's chin isn't really as bad as we think it is? It's clear he got rocked by Prescott but that was a damn good punch. How many guys would have survived that?
no. it's pretty bad. Prescott had him dancing with two good shots to the jaw.
Thing is....now everyone in Khan's camp knows he MUST guard that glass jaw with his life.
Roach will be teaching him check hooks until he collapses. There's almost no chance that Maidana beats Khan...unless he applies such pressure during rounds 1-4 that Khan folds....highly unlikely.
Khan by UD or late stoppage TKO...like in the 8th or 9th.
He'll easily stay away from Maidana's power shots....simply because he has to.
Jabs while moving backwards and sideways, covering up and countering with good timing.
Maidana was gassing out in both the Ortiz and Corley fights. If Khan simply takes him to the 8th or 9th, he just might bust his face up enough to have the ref stop it.
Unless, of course, Maidana lands a great shot early. Maidana's ONLY chance is smothering Khan from the sound of the bell, and getting him with a good punch to the chin.
JMM just weighed in at 133.5 for his last Lightweight fight.
You tell me what division he belongs in. Dude ain't even touching or pushing the LW limit.
Khan simply outpoints him or gets a late round stoppage from bruising and cuts to Chino's left eye.
If Khan can jab stepping backwards (ali style), it'll be an embarassing mismatch.
Khan wins UD or 9th rd. TKO (ref stoppage).
One possible scenario is that Khan thoroughly outboxes Maidana and UD's him.
Another possible scenario is that Khan outboxes Maidana until he gasses and scores a late stoppage.
...but the thing is, all of that can change at any time with one punch from Maidana. I'm gonna go with Maidana by KO/TKO cause he holds the "game changer." It's a hard thing to overlook.
thing is....Maidana's only chance is inside 5 rounds....where Khan can easily hide behind a shell and save energy....or just use a jab and stay away.
Or even counter with a check hook, which is one of Roach's favorite punches.
With Ariza helping Khan's conditioning, and Roach teaching him basic check hook technique....Maidana has no chance.
Khan knows his chin is shaky, so there's no chance he'll trade like Ortiz. Ortiz easily had the Maidana fight through 5...and Khan will be more careful.
Khan UD...or if he gets feisty...9th, MAYBE 10th rd TKO (ref stoppage, swelling/bruising/cuts to Chino's left eye).
Floyd never wanted Olympic Drug Testing implemented in boxing in the first place. He wanted "Olympic-style" drug testing implemented in his fights...they're not at all the same. He wanted it in his fights if/when Pacquiao was mentioned as an opponent.
Anyway. None of that matters. Fight won't happen. Both sides made agreeable concessions already, and no fight.
My take is....Mayweather simply has no real interest in fighting Manny. That's it. For whatever reason.
I think that's the top 3 90% of p4p lists will have.
Personally, I think JMM should be number 3.
+1 big time.
1 (or 2) Pac
2 (or 1) Floyd
3 is JMM.
I would like to know in which facet of boxing Paul Williams is BETTER than JMM. I'll wait for someone who makes sense, then reply.
His left is absolutely vicious, he times it to perfection. Back then Pacman was more reliant on his straight left but his game has evolved hugely since then to, he is more awkward to fight now then he was back then.
exactly. he's even more awkward to fight now than before.
With the skill set he has now....he would've easily destroyed Morales and even JMM.
Pacquiao doesn't swing as wildly anymore...like I said, he goes in a shell more now to lure and counter the opponent instead of chasing.
