Pac looks kinda big in that photo; alot bigger than I thougt he would be. There's still 2 more months of training, so we'll see how they look standing next to each other.
Cotto really lost because of Marg's mini mullet which gave him the power to beat Cotto. JK. But ya, Cotto didn't seem like the boxer I thought he was going to be last night. Big ups to Margarito. He seemed way more determined to win the fight than Cotto.
Hey boxing fans. I've been going to this site for some months now and decided to finally join.
I don't believe Lacy was trying to "purposefully" tackle Mendoza like a football player, he was just putting all his weight forward to clinch him and Mendoza felt overwhelmed by it so Lacy fell on top of him...which does seemed like he tackled him, but nevertheless. I was hoping for a big Lacy comeback, but I was totally fooled. I thought Mendoza did a little bit more that he should've won the fight, but the last round gave it away.
Did anyone else notice the way Mendoza was punching with his right? It seemed like he was trying to stab with a knife, even when swinging from the side. I thought it was kinda funny.
1.75. I've bought a couple of boxing PPV before and I'll only watch MMA if the two guys are hitting each other and not rolling on the ground hugging. If both are on, I'll prioritize boxing over MMA. Sometimes MMA fights just doesn't live up to the hype like when that guy stuck his leg out trying to kick, closed his eyes, and swung a lucky right hook on Kimbo Slice and ko'd him. <--Very uneventful.
Pacman weighed in at 145 on fight night during the Diaz fight, so I honestly do not think Pacman will be slower than he usually is, unless he overtrains himself and suffers an injury. Roach even said that he'll make Pacman weigh around the same for the Diaz fight on weigh-in, and only add a couple of more pounds during fight night.
You have to be an idiot to consider Mayweather as athlete of the decade. Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, Roger Federer, Peyton Manning consistently played against the best athletes (teams) in their respective sports and won. You CANNOT say the same thing to Mayweather. He NEVER fought against the best in his sport like Margaritio, Williams, Cotto, etc.
Lance Armstrong deserves it too he dominated just as much.
Tiger Woods... golf... ha
Roger Federer honestly I dont know anything about tennis but i didnt think he was really relevant in the first half of the decade.
Manning is a legit choice to cause he does have 1 super bowl and 3 mvps.
And Mayweather never fought the best welterweights ill admit but he fought all the good fighters from super featherweight up.
He did fight those guys at the weight, but he kinda tailed off when he went up. I'm not hating not Mayweather since I'm a fan of his inside the ring, but great odds are stacked against him. It's true that you don't need to be a great athlete to play golf or even baseball, but Woods' dominance makes the majority believe he should be "Athlete" of the decade. Federer has won like 13 Championships in tennis while being rated number 1 player for 5 straight years. This list doesn't even include Michael Phelps who has 14 gold medals while breaking dozens of world records in swimming.
For fighter of the decade, for me it's a toss between Mayweather or Pacquiao. I wouldn't bitch either way if one of them wins it and the other doesn't.
Can all you Flomos and Pactards stop bitching already. If you read the whole ESPN article, both Arum and Schaefer only have to relay the new info to Pac and May and this fight will probably get done really soon. I know that May has already agreed (according to Schaefer), now let's hope Arum can convice Pac as well.
I'm getting excited for this fight again
Everyone should stfu. We all should be grateful this fight has a high probability of happening now. Who cares if the Flomos or Pactards are right, this is going to be one of the biggest fights ever.
Manny almost looks as big as Cotto in those pics, but it could be the clothes they were wearing. Also, Manny's fists look bigger than Cotto's. I cannot wait for this fight.
This could be an exciting farewell fight for Manny since he's only going to fight 2 more fights, 3 at most before he does his political thing. If Manny doesn't bring Floyd out of retirement after a very probable fight with Hatton next year, a 3rd and last fight with Marquez would be pretty cool at 135 or 140.
I had Marquez winning the 1st fight, but I had Manny winning the 2nd one because I don't think Marquez did enough to win it.
The major reason why it's only 1.25 mil is because one household would buy the fight and invite a bunch of people over and tell them to either pay a small fee or bring food over. That's what I did. I paid for it while a several of my family members went over and brought food. And I know since the economy isn't going so well, many other people did the same thing.
It seems like both sides are already trying to hype up the fight by saying Manny will do this and that to Oscar even though he's like 4-5 inches taller than Manny. The Oscar camp wants everyone to believe that this Manny is the best boxer it seems in any weight class. This makes it seem like Oscar is fighting this "giant" to solidfy his career right before he retires. They seem to be baiting casual boxing fans who know enough of Manny and Oscar to buy and watch the fight. Heck, they got me.
P.S. I'm a really big Pacman fan, but this fight seems to be more about Oscar's legacy, Manny being Manny by fighting whomever Roach and Arum throws him into the ring with, and money. Manny should fight another LW and not jump all the way to 147 and Oscar should go for the winner of Cotto/Margarito.
It seems like everyone is underestimating Juan Diaz's boxing skills. He may be a bit overweight in the midsection, but consider them as pillows when JMM tries to punch it. If Juan Diaz was super ripped, he would be able to take the body shots, but after a while, his muscles wouldn't be able to take the punishment anymore. Since Diaz is a bit flabby, his fat protects the muscles and takes most of the punishment and would only sting throughout the whole fight instead of getting all battered up if he only had muscles. That's why if you watch his fights, he doesn't really worry about getting hit in the body all the much. If you guys don't believe me, try a little experiment for yourself.
BTW, I got a SD for Juan Diaz, since I believe none of them have the type of power to knock each other out. Maybe cuts, but no KO/TKO.
