A Year Away
Klitschko isn't remotely ready for a rematch with Fury. He looked gun shy and mentally not there to fight Fury. Not taking ANY CREDIT AWAY from Fury. He was well prepared and was better than what I thought he would be.
Let Klitschko get his mind right, his personal issues squared away, and maybe try some new thing's training wise.
He has been on top of the division for a decade. Fighting the best of his division on a regular basis. He need's time to recover. Keep in mind he is getting up their in age and fighting guys who are a decade younger and just as big as him.
He is probably a year away from going for the titles one more time, and hopefully by then he's 100% ready mentally and physically.
Billy Jo it's not a good look for you to only want to fight Canelo and not want to fight GGG or even Jacobs.
It sounds like your have already mentally told yourself you can't beat GGG. That's not a good mind set if you want to be established as the best Middleweight in the world.
You make us boxing fans think your weak minded if your thought process is like that. Just say that their are more benefits fighting Canelo than any other Middleweight, which is true Canelo will get you a career payday.
Should Have Stayed
This is the only guy in my opinion who should have stayed with Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions instead of deciding to stay with Al Haymon. By now Oscar probably would have gotten him a fights with Bradley, Rios, Lucas, or Provo.
Any of those wins would have positioned him better to fight Canelo or Pac instead of him sitting, waiting, and hoping that he would have gotten a shot at Money May.
He is hurting his own career by taking this wait and see approach. Their are plenty of fights out their for him to take like Brook and capture a world title but instead he's putting his career on hold.
He needs to wake up and realize that he's not yet a global star like Money May, or Pac. He needs to rake up the wins against major competition and then maybe he will get those guys in the ring.
Oscar mentioned that he wanted to make Amir Khan vs Canelo in May. That would be a interesting fight to see if it's possible to make.
Countdown to September
This is going to be a very good maybe a great fight.
Both are very skillful, powerful, and just keep improving and showing different dimensions to there boxing skills every fight.
The main difference other than age is experience. While GGG has the amateur pedigree and has undefeated record he has not faced the same quality opponents as Canelo.
Canelo is improving by fight and has looked much better since the boxing lesson he got against Money May. GGG showed another faucet to his game when he fought Lemeiux showing that he's way more than just a knock out machine.
This is an evenly matched fight, and a fight that all boxing fans are looking forward too.
Golden Boy and HBO must be expecting some huge Pay Per View buys and an easy sell out for Amir to net 13 million.
My question is how much is Canelo netting for this fight?
Oscar is being very disrespectful saying that Khan can easily beat Canelo.
Canelo and Khan are both very skilled fighters. Khan has the skills but no chin. Canelo has good skills but is limited with his foot speed.
Skill wise this is an even fight. Meaning it will not be a walk in the park for either guy.
I like Khan and I honestly think he should fight some of the big name welterweights out their but it makes no sense to not fight Brook. It would sell huge in the UK and he would probably get the bigger piece of that pie.
Khan last 4 potential fights should be:
Kell Brook
Danny Garcia
Tim Bradley
Jesse Vargas
Smart move to go back down weight. Khan was up in my opinion 3 rounds to 2 rounds.
Khan will give welterweights all types of problems. I would like to see if he can find a way to get Vargas in the ring and take his belt.
Anyone know if Khan is staying with Golden Boy and HBO? That would be smart for him.
Khan needs to be happy that he and Canelo are the center of the boxing world this week. He needs to let the Mayweather stuff go and leave it in the past.
Amir finally has the big stage. Hopefully he puts forth a great effort this weekend.
Great Fight
That was a great fight. I told a lot of people that the Miura vs Vargas fight was going to be the best fight on the card.
They both delivered. They both have great skill and great heart. I'm not sure there are many fighters who will go past 6 rounds with either of these two.
Both stocks went way up. Can't wait to see Miura again on TV and in the states. Hopefully we get to see more Japanese fighter more. He represented himself and his country well.
It was great to see a guy like Vargas go from prospect to Champion. Can't wait to see who he fights next. I know that there not in the same division but I would love to see a Vargas vs Jorge Linares fight.
Can't wait to see these guys rematch each other. This has a Barrera vs Morales or Marquez vs Vazquez fights written all over it.
Greatness we saw last night!!!! And New Champion of the World Francisco Vargas!!!!
I'll say this Balderas is taking a risk because Schaefer has a true up start promotion.
It will be interesting to see what dates and venues both companies battle for. Oscar has 2 venues he has locked down monthly to showcase his prospects. It will interesting to see if Schaefer attempts to do the same.
Competition for talent and dates will be heated up next year on the west coast.
Warren is taking shots at Hearn. That's what this is. He's mad because theirs no super fight in the UK between Crolla/Flanagan. Linares has been around longer, fought in bigger fights, and deserves this fight.
This is a unification fight. And the winner moves on to bigger and better things.
Warren wants a big fight for Flanagan how about fighting Kid Blast or seeing if guys like Loma or Vargas wanna move up weight?
I think Orozco should be in a title eliminator fight. He's a good fighter. Had 2 quality fights with Taylor and Soto last year.
I think a fight with Michael Perez would be good.
I doubt it sells out but I think there will be a good crowd anyway.
Canelo sells period. However for this to have been a future sell out the UNDERCARD should have been better.
You look at all the in house fights that could or should have been made and you wonder why they weren't.
Doubt it happens but it wouldn't surprise me if the undercard changes due to the backlash it's getting.
Good for Miguel. He has nothing left to prove. Miguel Cotto will be a hall of famer possibly first ballot and now he can move on to becoming a full time promoter now.
Vegas judging is absolutely laughable these days. Promoters and fighters need to be more aware of judges that are in these fights.
They need to investigate past judges scores in high profile fights and need to determine if they are qualified enough to get the assignment.
Suspensions needed to handed down for 118 to 110 card by Bryd
I think this win brought more attention to Saunders and raised his profile for sure.
Hopefully Saunders fights again on HBO next against a solid fighter before attempting to unify with the Canelo vs GGG winner.
If this is a possibility. Golden Boy Promotions should put this as one of the undercard fights for GGG vs Canelo.
Time is running out. September is gonna be here soon.
lmfao they always have garbage undercards! Just like the garbage undercards on that scam fraud joke ppv canela vs chavez bum fraud jr...
It's been 50/50 on those undercards pay per view wise. If you think about most boxing pay per views undercards aren't stacked unfortunately.
Oscar rather work with arum and his two fighters instead of pbc
But if it's a tournament wouldn't that force other promoter's to work together?
Because they can't pick who fights who, it's more like they have to pick a venue and put the fight on by a certain date.
Charlos are easy fights that can be made.
Canelo and Cotto are going to be harder to make.
Canelo fight will probably happen at Middelweight down the line. However Cotto is probably retiring soon and I'm not sure Andrade brings the money to the table needed to make this fight possible.
This would be a damn good fight. Question is can Schaefer and Arum get along?
They have took shots at each other and I'm not sure if fences can be mended. But if they can get past their issues with another then this would be a fight us fans would want.
This is a damn Good triple header. Can't wait to see if Berchelt is a real champion or if he caught Vargas at the right time. Miura is tough as nails, he might test Berchelt more than Vargas.
Can't wait to see Corrales United States debut. Castellanos is no push over. Hopefully Corrales showcases his skills.
Finally 2 Top 10 Light Heavyweights in a stacked division. A true 50/50 fight. Im predicting a knockout.
Great Job Golden Boy Promotions and HBO.
Thought this was going to be Barrera vs Morales but it was still a overall Solid fight.
No need for a rematch. Hopefully Rigo and Frampton fight next
Quigg should fight Donaire
Good fight. I still think this would have been a very good co main event for the Canelo vs GGG card but Linares is getting his own stage and a great exposure.
My only question is why isn't this fight in the U.K.? Linares vs Campbell would have probably sold real well over there.
Corrales needs to be on his A game.
Castellanos is going to be a tough fight. He was beating Escandon who is fighting Russell this weekend before the head clash that caused his nose to break. Took Gamboas will and broke him.
Corrales needs to win impressively.
Showtime is out hustling HBO. Even though HBO actually has a overall solid schedule compared to last year, Showtime is just levels above them.
I do like this weekends card with Vargas, Berchelt, and Miura. But Showtime is making wise investments thus far early in the year.
HBO has to do more even though they have so far this year.
The only thing I can is that if he's fighting at 154 next and it's Pay Per View then Golden Boy better pick a high quality opponent for this to sell well.
Miguel Cotto would sell but probably half of the previous numbers
Liam Smith is extremely unknown would probably be the worst numbers Canelo would do.
Unless they get Floyd Mayweather rematch this is going to be a tough sell for Golden Boy Promotions
