AMIR KHAN has promised his mum he will only fight four more times. But he has also told Kell Brook to forget it if he thinks one of them will be against him. Khan, 29, arrives back in the UK this morning after his brutal sixth-round knockout by WBC middleweight champion Saul Alvarez. Click Here To Read More]
Canelo was clearly too big for Cotto. I bring it up b/c he moved on to fighting an even smaller man. Canelo is one of those guys like Brandon Rios at 135, they're young enough to cut massive weight and then fully put it back on with little ill effect.
Cotto shouldn't haved moved up to MW. This is part of the game. Look at Crawford... Everybody cuts weight. Look how big Khan looked he wasn't much smaller and dude is at 47.
I don't like the big rehydrations but Canelo isn't to blame. Boxing is. He's comfortably making the weight and Virgil talks about Amir having trouble making 147. Khan and Virgil were idiots. Virgil abd khan spent months telling us how he has trouble making 47 which logically makes him a 54 pounder if he cant make 47 right? He fought at 154+1..not 160. Dont hate the player hate the game. Cotto fought a cripple and demanded a CW. Dont feel sorry for him
Whether you believe Khan is ducking an unproven fighter way less intimidating than Canelo or not, he doesn't owe Brook or anyone else for that matter anything.
Really? Are you insinuating Canelo was bullying the lineal MW champ in Cotto? With his size?
The champ?
Lineal champ?
Not even at 160?
Someone's a Cotto fan. :P
And Virgil was fine with GGG going up 8 pounds for his fighter Ward just like Khan did for Canelo...get over it...he had a nervous breakdown on live TV and it was both hilarious and undignified. Khan was a bad matchup, there's no denying it...But outside of that his recent opposition has been great and fights the fans wanted.

I don't blame Hunter, I liked his outburst. Khan took the fight because it was career money. Forget his bs about Brook being worth more, this was most money Khan would ever make in a single fight for his career. Those were his reasons for the fight.
Canelo on the other took this fight b/c he's a bully who's scared to fight guys his own size. He literally almost killed Khan with a single shot, b/c he was so much bigger. He was too big for Cotto to do anything against. Hunter basically called him out on being a bully, and I'm glad for that.
That's a good point. This may seem a little paradoxical considering he has a decent KO percentage but I've never been completely sold on his punching power. When the Lopez fight was signed I felt it was a concerted effort to make him look like an exciting knockout artist. Same with this fight.
I personally believe the kid will fight anyone but the weight disparity doesn't look good. Sadly it's become a standard part of fight negotiations. I think its got more to do with managers and promoters looking to gain an advantage for their 'product' and to sell them as something they're not.
whats up with these UK fighters??
Hatton did this against Witter
Calzaghe did it against Froch
Froch did it against DeGale
They're scared of losing. The UK is a small nation, they cant accept losing to another person is this small area. Khan has been Britains premier 135-147 guy since he won silver at the olympics now he fears losinf his status as that premier fighter. Same for hatton, calzaghe snd froch
As I said earlier today. It would absolutely kill Khan if he got KO'd by Brook in the UK. It's obvious why he doesn't want to fight him but his fans will spew delusional reasons why Brook doesn't deserve a payday but turn around and support a fight against the world renown Julio Diaz, or the 'non-pedophile' Carlos Molina. smdh

People will only watch con fights now just to see how he will get knocked out
I think Hunter will end up regretting his post fight outburst when he looks back on it. It was somewhat undignified trying to paint it as a victory of sorts for his fighter by attacking Canelo's willingness to fight his main rival.
Maybe he was angry at Canelo and his team for putting him in a position of training his fighter for a bout he knew he'd get hurt in but it is prizefighting after all, and both himself and Khan has been well compensated.
Khan will protect his ego by buying into himself as 'setting the tone' that other boxers should follow but like you say, that's far from being the case. If he had actually set a tone then Canelo would be looking to fight Kovalev before coming back down to middleweight and stating that he'll never fight GGG because he doesn't like the cut of his jib!

No sh1t. It should be, "I dont like him and i want to beat him." He had guts to fight Canelo but only because he's scared sh1tless of losing to Brook.
That's basically it, don't think he can mentally handle losing to a domestic rival which would be a super fight in the Uk as well. If kell was any other nationality he would've fought him by now.
Same reason May gave for not fighting Khan. May just don't like Khan and don't want to give him the payday. And now Khan saying the same thing about Brook, that he just don't like him and don't want to give him the payday. It's not about winning or losing, but more of a personal grudge where the richer fighter doesn't want the guy he dislikes to get a payday.
If the only options for Danny Garcia are Garcia-Khan II or Garcia-Brook, Garcia is flying to London and taking on Kell Brook (Sky Box Office/Showtime).
Why in the heck would Danny Garcia be excited to fight the guy he's already stopped, who just got KTFO, and hasn't looked good since getting slept the first time (not to mention Khan's asking price for the mandatory challenge won't be light)?
Garcia himself has said that there's no way he's going to the UK.

yeah, thanks to Hatton now everybody think that not liking a mfer is a good reason NOT to fight him....I always thought that was a PERFECT reason to fight a mfer :lol1:
Canelo should release a statement that Khan needs to step up and fight Brook.

Fury doing it against Haye too..
Seems to be a custom around them parts..
Talk about leaving you high and dry.. Lol
To be fair, Calzaghe was miles ahead of Froch at the time and Froch was later quoted as knowing fine well that was the case but taking the opportunity to promote himself as willing to take his career all the way to the top. Similar with Froch Degale, both at opposite ends of their careers.
Fury had 2 fights scheduled with Haye, both of which fell apart from Haye's side and took a significant chunk of time out of Fury's career.
And on the night Hatton won his British title, Witter butted in right at the start of Hatton's post-fight interview, was nothing short of rude and utterly classless ; had he waited 30 seconds later and given the slightest hint of respect before tearing into him, he would more than likely have gotten the opportunity he desperately needed Hatton to hand him.
