I've torn my meniscus and did not have surgery. Looking a poor decision now as i may need to go back and get it done. Tough injuries, when i plant my leg, from time to time it will lock and takes 30seconds to a minute to recover.
Massive mental thing as when it happens, you don't go as hard afterwards. I think Martinez may have felt it lock once during the fight and after that, he weren't confident planting that right knee…why he wasn't getting any power. Maybe thats why he was saying the knee was fine as it weren't throughout the fight. It certainly locked again in the 8th round when he want for the left hook and nearly fell.
The whole fight was tough to watch, i really do think he will fight one more time in Argentina and that will be it.
Absolutely gutted he lost. It was a big punch and it shook him but i do think his legs played a part in this. I'd love to say it were;t his legs and hope he'd fight again but sadly, his legs just weren't like they used to be. His right knee was the problem, there was no snap in his punches and it didn't appear to me as if he had any confidence in his legs either.
What didn't help is Cotto looked brilliant. His footwork was outstanding, which made Sergio's look all the more worse.
If he loses and breaks his hand BUT puts on a show of heart and courage like the Cotto performance, then perhaps he has a couple more big fights and people would be interested.
If he loses, breaks his hand and has a poor performance, then retire. 3 poor performances on the trot and 2 straight fights breaking your hand....then yeah :(
In the sig man.
Well, firstly im a Paulie fan, so i have to roll with him.....but apart from that i think he will win anyway.
The thing i can see happening in this fight is, Paulie being patient getting openings from Hatton IF Hatton has learned anything from Mayweather, but if Paulie picks his moments i could see Hatton getting frustrated and going to the old Hatton just rushing in, open and unbalanced and see maybe a Paulie knock down late on if this happens, like the N'Dou fight.
Paulie has been wanting this fight for years, ever since he first beat N'Dou and felt he was overlooked, heh as his chance and he will take it, i have no doubt. N'Dou I, he could become champion and look how great he looked.....i can anticipate a similar performance though not as dominant.
Paulie will be patient in this fight and not brawl with Hatton, he will outbox Hatton.
hmmm.... you new here, you gonna pay up?
dont wanna have come lookin for you :D
Haha dont worry man, i can take losing like a man.....sometimes, i shall pay, you have my word. Though this will be my first bet on here, you down? sorry it aint mega
Paulie is gonna destroy Hatton. He will embarass him and all of Hattons fans. Cant wait to see the fallout on Sunday, lets go Paulie.
Paulie has got this UD!
Well Oscar took the PBF defeat personally and Pacquiao leaving Golden Boy as personal when Pacquiao said it was just business.
Either way, was indeed sad to see how DLH got destroyed. He needs to retire, nowhere else to go from here anyway.
As a Paulie fan, i know confidence and DeGale is confident but:
1. I would liek to see DeGale do well........but he wont, he will be another Audley as previously said.
2. Yes, i hate Bunce, the guy is a tosser....and yes a HUGE ass licker.
Nooooooo......he still has alot to offer IF he gets over the injury psychologically, i see plenty of fights for him. Be wrong to retire now and i felt he would have been close to Hatton if he fought back....and yeah he made 7 figures is what i know.
Paulie will beat Hatton, at first i felt he would destroy him.....heck he still will, i see Hatton taking 4 rounds max.
Paulie will win this, no doubt in my mind.
Yeahhh lvoe it, it starts! Paulie will beat Ricky by UD and every Paulie fan will say the same thing.......but we will stop shy of saying Paulie will win by KO, maybe a stoppage, could see Hatton staying open and Paulie just landing...
Bring on Saturday!
No way should he retire yet.
I said if he had a bad fight and broke his hand then yeah retire. But he had a bad fight, hand was fine but lost to the best Ricky Hatton since the Tzsyu fight.
Their are plenty of fights out there he could fight and would be mouth-watering.
Paulie v Junior Witter (would love to see this)
Paulie v Zab Judah
Paulie v Timothy Bradley
Paulie has wanted that Cotto rematch since day one.....he wont get that now.
He needs to get rid of Buddy. He does him no favors, then ending the fight for him when it werent that bad? poor. He has not been the same with Buddy, the first 2 fight with him he was still Paulie then Buddys regime took over and changed him....oh and yeah bring back the gelled hair.
Oh yeah, credit to Hatton, guy looked pretty darn good in there. Paulie in fairness was poor, silly he seemed to try fight Mayweathers fight then his own. But even if Paulie was at his best....it may have ended similar to the Cotto fight, Hatton was extremely good.
Very surprised at Ricky, i felt he would go back to his old self at times and he did whcih was to be expected, but wow what a job so far from Mayweather Sr. I look forward to future Hatton fights for sure, hopefully he fights in Wembley next year, i am there! as a fan of boxing no doubt.
I can see Paulie retiring if he wins mattering on what fights he has before this...
with hatton more than likely coming close to the end of his career; more than likely the majority of the remainder of his fights will be above 140...
so i think this can be the career defining fight paulie seeks...
once hatton leaves 140 paulie and judah can clean out the division (the two of them can pick up all the titles at 140) and can have their PPV moment as the two could square off for the number 1 spot at 140 in a title unification fight...
both loser AND winner could end up retiring...
it would be a dream scenario for me but thats unlikely to happen...
the atmosphere would be crazy...two guys from brooklyn fighting for the top spot at 140 in a unification bout in NYC...
it would be huge for these guys.
anyway...back to reality...
i made a thread earlier and think their cocky attitude and styles would mix perfectly for a good fight.
That would be an awesome scenario.
I was also thinking, Paulie vs Junior Witter, winner gets Bradley.....though Witter should get Bradley then maybe winner of that vs Paulie. So many scenarios in this division.
Respect to everyone who posted opinions.
Definately needs a new direction, i wouldnt think Paulie thought Buddy was joking in the middle of a fight but perhaps it shows Paulie isn't motivated enough with Buddy being his trainer....needs a new direction.
Paulie has not been the same the last few fights and does seem a slower.
I think the fight would have still gone to Manny but....the fight would be a lot closer if Cotto's trainers weren't cheer leaders.
Instead of saying "He can't hurt you! You can turn this fight!" give Cotto some tactical advice, for Christ's sake. You guys are trainers! Not fans!
Totally agreed.
Maidana would probs be the most dangerous JUST because of power, but Maidana would trade, would he catch Khan before Khan catches him?
Most difficult would definately be Paulie, Paulie has got a great chin, great speed and wont stand there waiting to get hit. Paulie would beat him.
Yeah im intrigued by the possibility, in any other event a Khan vs Malignaggi fight would be a co-feature or should headline by itself but would be big to get on this card, im sure both would be down for it.
If it dont happen on theu ndercard, the fight is big enough to stand on its own but i could see it happening in England though.
