Paulie had 2 outstanding fights under Buddy, those being Cherry and N'Dou 1. Since then he has fought Ngoudjo, N'Dou again and Hatton and in all of those has looked pretty poor barely getting past 2 of them, whereas Paulie dominates opponents when he beats them unlike those fights.
Then losing to Hatton and having the towel thrown in? How disrespectful to him, he was losing....but werent necessarily getting destroyed in terms of his face, but throw in the towel? let him fight it off, we know a great attribute to Paulie is his heart and guts and thats what he had left in that fight and it was taken away.
Buddy seems to have slowed him down...its not Paulie, let Paulie be Paulie. He needs to lose Buddy now.
if a trainer could change a brawler into a pure boxer like what mcgirt did with arturo gatti, then he's got to be one hell of a trainer in my opinion, pauli just didnt listen
Not really. Just teach him the basics, that's what Mcgirt did for Gatti. All of Mcgirts fighters have success at first but then fall into mediocrity.
I have a bad feeling about the stoppage too. I have a feeling there was some political influence in the stoppage.
Respect to everyone who posted opinions.
Definately needs a new direction, i wouldnt think Paulie thought Buddy was joking in the middle of a fight but perhaps it shows Paulie isn't motivated enough with Buddy being his trainer....needs a new direction.
Paulie has not been the same the last few fights and does seem a slower.
he probably needs an inspiration not a new trainer :lol1:

Well Hatton was going to go all out in the 12th and final round.
So basically that could of saved him some real punishment because he was almost knocked down a couple of times in the fight and Hatton didn't go in for the kill.
Except this time its the last round and can expel all his energy in doing so.

Paulie needs to take a good look at himself and his career and decide if he wants to keep going. If i was him i'd take a long break. Last saturday he had nothing. Niet. Nada.
Paulie does need a new trainer in my opinon.
I think Buddy has taught him as much as he's going to teach him and now paulie needs to go in a different direction...
he needs a trainer that can teach him more effective defensive methods...prepare him for the rest of his career where he wont always be able to rely on speed (like he has most of his career)...
someone to teach him more tricks.
it apparently has worked for hatton...
mcgirt is an okay trainer but not a great one...
when he warned paulie in the corner that he would stop the fight i didnt think he was serious personally. I thought he was just trying to motivate paulie to step it up.
Stopping the fight at the time buddy stopped it was wrong...he wasnt in any danger and I felt that paulie could have EASILY finished the fight...
He should retire. As a matter of fact they may have to get rid of 95% of that damn division. haha at ricky saying no one can beat him in that division well their isnt anyone right now that can fight in that division
I disagree, He warned paulie M from what i read that he would stop the fight if paulie doesnt let his hands go. Maybe paulie thought buddy was joking but boxing isnt about just heart.
That heart could get you kill if you dont use your brains, Buddy prolong paulie career by stopping the fight.
