:feedback:
what the hell has happened to the official website, its like a secret service, dont expect anyone will want to travel far too this event, it will be too late for us fans to book flights, never mind its only 11 months to canastota.:feedback::yeah::burnout:
Mando Ramos used to run it and put up the money to update it, but he has since passed away.
I don't know who is in charge of it now.
It was a foregone conclusion by the media that Ali was going to dominate him, bro.
It was a shock for all that witnessed it on CCTV that saw Frazier work him over as he did.
I still say that Eddie Futch made a tragic mistake in stopping that fight as Ali was in just as bad or even worse condition than Joe was.
It was not the best heavyweight fight of the 70's, but it was surely the most brutal.

Good Job!
Keep it up, guys!
You all are doing damn good, and it takes more than one kind of guts just to enter that ring and fight.
You are brave lads and I wish you all well.

Some really good posts here.
Lopez was a good kid, though I never liked him.
You guys touched on it, his lack of opposition turned me off, and IMO he should have moved up in weight as he fought in relative obscurity as far as the US was concerned, but he was an all time great and Mexico should be proud of their great champion.
Ruben Olivares gets my vote as the greatest Mexican fighter ever, and Rafael Herrera as the most technically sound Mexican fighter.
Herrera was a sheer joy to watch in terms of style, as was Lionel Rose, the former Aussie bantamweight king.
Mexico has produced so many beautiful fighters, every couple of years I change my mind as to who the best was in terms of style, and Carlos Zarate was right up there as well.
55-13, 21 Wins by RSC, USAF Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, Interservice (Armed Forces Champion) title once.
Only less than half of those losses were legit, but I got 1 or 2 that could have gone the other way.
Judah
I would go with Judah here to TKO Arturo if they fought right now.
After Mayweather gets through with him, I am not sure how effective Zab is going to be in the future after the beatdown he is fixing to receive from Floyd, though.
Juan Diaz
However many points I have, consider it done.
This methodical, easy to figure out looper is not taking Juan Diazs' WBA Lightweight Championship.
Cotto telegraphs and loops his left hook, standing right in front of his man waiting for the receipt (the hit back, the counter) and is open to counter shots.
Diaz wins big on points here vs this robot who is at his best when his man is right in front of him, which Juan will not be a large majority of the time.

Lacy
I think a changing of the guard is in order tonight, boxingscene fight people.
Commencement signals the end of one thing, but the beginning of another.
Jeff will most likely leave for greener pastures next year, but should get rid of Calzaghe tonight.
Joel is a very good and deserving champion that has always done all that was asked of him in the ring, but tonight it ends for him, I think.
Miguel will beat Branco handily, and Cotto is one of my favorites.
I think HBO could have found a more suitable opponent for Miguel than this young man who is tough, but way outclassed here.
Enjoy the fights tonight, everyone!

Diaz
I think Juan will take Cotto via unanimous decision.
Cotto is very methodical to me and I think will get beaten to the punch repeatedly by Diaz.
Look for Juan to do a lot more jabbing in this fight as well to setup his shots as opposed to winging them which he likes to do.
I think he should give Cotto a good going over after the 8th round and swell him up pretty good winning a UD.
Diaz
I like him as well, but the problem with him is that he hasn't fought much lately as you guys pointed out.
And it's always-"The other guy's fault" that these fights don't happen.
Very good stamina and exceptional handspeed and reflexes for a lightweight, but no real knockout power.
I think he should beat Cotto, but I picked Lacy to stop Calzaghe as well, so that goes to show you how much I know.
I think Diaz may need a change in promoters and management as he has blown one complete year due to inactivity.
I don't think he can beat either Castillo or Corrales, though.
He is a very good fighter that I have seen since his amateur days, but he isn't ready for the elite level yet.
He may do well fighting the elder Cotto and perhaps Julio Diaz, or the Raheem-Freitas winner perhaps.
But Juan isn't beating any of the big boys right now.

Good Comparison
I also think Brewster deserves an easy fight much like Frazier did when he took on Ron Stander, Terry Daniels, etc. Brewster takes a lot of punishment with his style and needs to make all the paydays with that belt that he can before he's over the hill (which will be sooner than we'd hope). He'll be fighting the top guys again soon but let him make some money with the title. He definitely deserves this.
That's a pretty good analysis, kid.
This man is better than Daniels and Stander in boxing ability, though Ronnie could swat as evidenced by his ten count KO victory over Earnie Shavers. Joe Frazier said on Greatest Sports Legends hosted by Reggie Jackson: "Ronnie definitely let me know he was there!"
I think this will be a surprisingly tough fight for Brewster who is one of my favorites.

Diaz
funny a guy talkin trash bout one of the Cotto brothers has a Hatton picture on his thing, lmao id expect u to say that. Jose Cotto is gona beat Juan, thats the same Juan that won his belt from some nobody named sim right? and backed out of his espn ppv fight cause he was scared right? Ye athats him.
How am I talking trash when I paid Cotto a compliment calling him a very good fighter?
And he is a good fighter as long as the other fella is right in front of him.
Juan may be in front of him all night, but he's not going to stay in the same place as he is going to steer Jose all over the ring.
Diaz was cut in sparring and his manager pulled him out of the Elder fight.
The two guys I saw him fight on the Spanish network were not very good, that is just a fact.
I analyzed Juan's style in that post is all that I did.
Great Fight
This should be a good one between two tough guys that like the smack talk and can back it up.
Hopkins in a sure bet Hall of Famer, and Antonio likes to talk but can deliver the goods.
Bernard is a very big man for a middleweight, so the two are probably about the same size naturally.
This is about even as I see it.
Good call
As did I bro, good call.
Cotto is a very good fighter, when the other kid is right in front of him like that guy was.
Juan will slide on a guy, give him angles on top of angles, turn him and spin him, walk him around the ring and steer him into his shots and slide out on 45 degree angles without being hit back and counter the other fellas' counters.
Terrific PPV fight that may be better than the Main Event.
Again, good observation on Senor Cotto.
JS
Sturm
Bad matchup for The Executioner stylewise.
Hopkins is much the better fighter, but Sturm can make him look bad and perhaps steal the fight on points.
Felixs' strength is drawing the other boxer into a lead, and then countering and angling off on him.
That is a portion of Hopkins' style as well, and he is the best at it.
I don't think this would be a good fight for us fans, really.
It may turn out to be a great fight, who knows?
JS
Ppv
Vargas 4, Shane 3 but both got a percentage of the ppv sales so they did very well. This shows that they should stop having trinket title fights because this one had no belt on the line and outsold most title fights because it was two guys people wanted to see fight
Great post, Gatti.
This was one fight for the true boxing fan, and everyone I saw it with enjoyed the entire card.
Good action on every fight as well.
I was impressed with Brock's KO-what a knockout!
Gomez
I have followed Gomez since his extensive amateur career like many of you here have as well.
He is a very gifted boxer that just lacks the knockout punch and chin that is required to win the heavyweight championship.
And I may add, he has always been on the mouthy side, but has been able to back it up most of the time.
He was hammered by Diaz though, wasn't he?
JS
Taylor
I have always thought Jermain was the superior fighter between the two.
I do know that Taylor stopped him when they sparred as amateurs, though that was back then.
Taylor may not be beaten for sometime yet, perhaps.
Larry Merchant
Oh come now, Mr. Merchant.
You were so inebriated on prescription meds or other substances, you called security on myself and Michael Doss of (now) **********.com in 2004 on the Diaz-Sim card in Houston when we approached you for some very routine quick comments about the night's happenings and you reacted like we were a pair of New York City subway muggers.
You had to hold the ring apron to remain upright several times during the telecast, and in some instances resembled a sailor on high seas on a merchant schooner in the Atlantic Ocean.
Sorry; but we three know the truth of the matter, sir.
Taylor
taylor is the one ducking
Good point.
He really beat Jermain twice in the amateurs and got ripped off in the Olympics versus him.
He would have won the Gold Medal had it not been for that tragedy of a decision, that is right up there with the Roy Jones robbery to me.
80 percent of his shots landed were not scored by the judges.
It is a different scene now in the pro ranks, but I don't think Jermain or his people want to fight him just yet.
I think Taylor will beat him, but he has to be on his A Game to do so.
JS
Olympics
I disagree as those Olympics were more than six years ago.
Floyd Patterson, Roy Jones, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Jermain Taylor, George Foreman, Oscar DelaHoya, and Ray Leonard did it-why not Rocky??
JS
Pay
I don't know who gets paid what-but I do know that Jim Lampley and Mr. Steward are gentlemen.
The diminutive Mr. Merchant is another story, however.
A couple of years ago, myself and another boxing writer approached him in Houston at the Juan Diaz - Lakva Sim fight card.
Larry appeared to be on the deck of a ship at high sea, hanging onto the ring apron for support at times.
I will give him the benefit of the doubt saying he was on prescription medication as I did not see him consuming any alcohol, ok?
Mr. Merchant was very confused and unsure of his surroundings that particular evening, and was disoriented.
