A lot of people mostly Americans are going with Lacy on this one. A lot of people mostly Brits are going with Joe. But once you remove nationalism from your judgement we can let rational facts speak for themselves.
Jeff Lacy is younger, much harder hitting, more hungry, and definitly less prone to injury.
But, he is going into a foreign country wear the crowds, and the ref??? and the judges??? may be against him.
Joe Calzag is an excellent boxer, he hasn't lost since before Jeff Lacy was born, and he gets to fight on his home turf.
But, he is extremly prone to injury, and he is getting old.

But what really matters in this fight..... is...... the beards. And I don't mean ability to take a punch. I mean facial hair. From Joe's facial hair stubble you can tell that he is going in with a little bit of attitude but its under control.
Jeff Lacy's facial hair is wild, out of control and that is the style that he will go into the ring with.
This fight will look alot like Wlad vs Sam Peter did last year. Look for Joe to shave lacy in a close decison over 12 rounds. Many will cry robbery, Joe will retire without giving a rematch and Lacy will go on to dominate the divison for quite some time.
Just look at the crazy beard track record
Roy Jones vs Ruiz (crazy beird), loss
Danny Williams (crazy beird) vs Vitali, loss
John Ruiz (crazy beird) vs Valuev, loss
John Ruiz (crazy beird) vs Roy Jones, loss
Hopkins (crazy beird) vs Taylor 2, loss
------------------------------------------------
Any fighter who grows a crazy beird to get ready for a fight is looking to get his ass kicked in my opinion.
THIS IS GREAT! :D
Lacy was outboxed, extremely! Joe put on one of the best performances of his career, and Jeff showed how much he needs to improve on technique. He wasnt jabbing and setting up his shots...his footwork wasnt that great, etc. Although I disliked Joes method of tying him up every time he came in close, I have to admit he gave Jeff a boxing lesson. At this stage in Jeffs career, the most important thing is that he learn from this loss, and he talked (in the post fight interview) like he had done just that. Everything he said was right, and the same as what kept going thru my mind in the last few rds...that he had definately blown it, but if he simply learned from it, it wasnt the disaster it seemed at the moment. Jeff has got alot of work in the gym to do after his break, no doubt. Props to Joe for a great fight.
Lol, gotta love how the ref. waited until the 11th freaking rd. to take a pt. from Joe for all the holding  Like it was going to make a difference at that point, or encourage Joe to quit doing it.
EXACTLY. these people that dont know anything about jeff keep talking about hte "hometown advantage" , lacy LOVES to fight away from his hometown, in fact, the only reason he fought in florida against pemberton is b/c it was a last second fight after calzaghe pulled out. no one in this fight can have an impact besides Joe Calzaghe and Jeff Lacy.
+1 to Joe.
the judges and crown cant stop a lacy KO from happening. go jeff.

It will be tough for whoever wins. Calzaghe looked sensational against Eubank but that was nearly ten years ago. Lacy has looked sensational 4 months ago and has done nearly everytime out against some very good fighters. If lacy wins, he is the real deal. But if Calzaghe wins there can be no excuses because Lacy is the real deal right? But i am sure if joe wins they`ll be people running it down claiming lacy was this and that, limited etc... I kinda want Joe to win just to survey the reaction on this site!
I disagree with that, unless Calzaghe wins a controversial decision. I see it the other way. Calzaghe fans, and JuyJuy, will say Joe was past his prime, and that in his prime he would've KO'd Lacy. I'm a big Lacy fan, and if he loses a bullshit decision, then I'll be bitchin' and rantin' on here, but if Calzaghe wins clearly, I will pay him the respect he's due. If Calzaghe wins, he goes down as a great champ in my eyes, even with the lack of competition thus far in his reign. I think Lacy will win, but it won't be easy.
i agrea with kimmy
when joe does win they will be more excuses for lacy then i can ever imagine. oh jeffs hamster died on saturday morning or he had a headache earlier in the day and the tablet got lodged in hes throat
but ill be 1 of the ppl on here just sitting back and be saying i told you so
Lacy has only fought once in the UK before and I was there. It was against Donnell Wiggins and he looked fucking awful before he knocked him out. He certainly isnt the mini tyson people are saying he is. He had a very tough fight against Omar Sheika, and whilst he KO'd Scott Pemberton in 2, Peter Manfredo fucking Jr also KO'd him in 3. So he certainly isnt a mini tyson.
that said I think he'll give Joe a real hard fight on Saturday, and I'm starting to think he may even win. But I think its gonna be a lot tougher than most people think, and I think there'll be a rematch in the states

i think lacy wins, but its no blowout how some people might suggest, no way this one ends w/ joe on his back b4 the 10th round, and you can take that to the bank - lacy going in there throwing bombs and getting countered by joe's fast hands would be folly.
Some of the OPINIONS I've read about this fight have been crazy.
Theres either people claiming Lacy is gonna blow away a guy who's never been beaten and been champion for 7 years.
Then there's a few Brits who think Lacy's swarming style won't bother Calzaghe much. Since when has a successful swarmer with good stamina not been at least a challenge to a boxer.
I'm looking forward to this one, potential fight of they year.
Lacy TKO9
Saying Lacy hits harder and is hungier is just an opinion, not fact. Lacy's best wins so far have came against Calzaghe's leftovers. i also don't agree with the Wlad vs Peter comparison. i think there will come a time in this fight where both fighters will stand and trade, Calzaghe is no pussy.

LOL.......I would be a pissed fucker if the last part was true about calzaghe retiriing after a robbery victory. It is interesting what you say about the facial Hair but Jeff has looked like that in the past and it has made no difference and If I remember correctly a better example would have been comparing this to brewster/Krasniqi in which Brewster had wild face hair before the fight and came to foreign turf and scored a gutsy 9th rd ko with all the odds against him behind on the cards the ref giving the hometown fighter 30 seconds to get up from KDs but still Brewster coming out on top just Like Left Hook is going to do sat night. :boxing:
calfaggy hasnt had an attitude his whole life and hes only undefeated cuz he fights nobodies and bums.
jeff lacy will hand joe calfaggy his first loss this saturday.

1.He's fought in the UK twice before, he knows wat its like. and if u knew lacy, u'd know he hates fighting hometown. the majority of times he fights on the road, b/c at home he says some fighters loose some determination in training, expecting the crown to do what they lack.
2"Once we're in the ring, it doesnt matter how loud they yell.
they can scream all they want, but once joe and i are in the ring, its between us." said by lacy himself (paraphrased)
3.hometown means nothing to lacy
4. exactly, doesnt that show that he is getting to old?
5.ur joking with the facial hair, right?
even though i like lacy, i just can't see him winning........due to calzaghe's experience, that's if calzaghe fights the fight he needs to win........if calzaghe tries to fight lacy's fight, it will be very very dangerous for him....
this to me is indeed similar to wlad klitschko vs peter........even though wlad fought like a pussy, he still fought smart enough to get the nod.
