Pavlik, and its not even close. Kessler won't even fight anybody here in America. Kessler is a joke and has turned down more fights than he's accepted as of late. He only cares about getting the easy belts and would never commit to fighting a beast like Pavlik, who by the way would knock the crap out of Kessler. Look how Kessler was beaten up and dominated by Slap Happy Calzaghe. Pavlik doesn't slap like Calslappy and Kessler would be on his back.
Hey, prime Hopkins vs. Pavlik could (and most likely would) go Hopkins' way. As it is now, Hopkins simply does not have the workrate, stamina, or power to win.
Pavlik by UD.
I just don't see any reason to be worried about Shane. He could become a world-class trainer upon retirement. I'm sure plenty of fighers would love to be trained by him. He could even be a sort of official GBP In-House Trainer of sorts. Still plenty of money without all the bruises.
This is just like the ODLH-Pacman fight. Right up until it was signed each side was threatening to pull out but each side also knowing the fight was too big to lose. Don't worry folks, this is all just posturing and talk. I expect the final tally will be 55/45 Pacquiao.
Someone mentioned the idea of Taylor fighting Dawson. Perhaps at 168, but certainly not at LHW. Talyor needs to reestablish himself at Super Middleweight first before moving up (see what happened to Pavlik when he went all the way to 170?).
Seriously, who the heck would want to see Berto-Collazo II? The first fight was pretty good, but who cares? Berto needs to step up. If that means taking a little less than usual to fight an all time great then do it. Beating Mosley would mean much bigger paydays in the future. Now if he loses (he would BTW), then we would all know he was a joke anyway!
The contract may have been BS, but honestly, who besides Vitali would have been a better fight for Haye should he beat Wladimir? The answer is NOBODY! To tell the truth, this contract will help Haye more than hurt him - again, only if he wins. Actually it's a dream contract - Haye, just barely into his Heavyweight career has contracts set up with 3 of the 4 beltholders!!! Not only that, the Klitschkos are the best, most lucrative deal out there. What, Haye would rather fight Povetkin for less money?
Echols is beyond shopworn and should have retired some time ago. He looks like a tired crackhead.
If Lee can't beat this dude then his short unremarkable career will get a lot shorter.
Jezz, this author needs to get a clue. He is such a ODLH nuthugger that he's blind to the fact that Oscar is not now, nor ever will be an elite fighter again. He refuses to give Pacquiao the respect he deserves, illustrated by the fact that he even spelled Manny's name "Paquioa". Please.
Then he goes on to say that DLH can beat Chavez Jr.? You've got to be kidding?! If Oscar wants to embarass himself further, than allowing Chavez Jr. to restore his father's honor will be one great way to do it.
The only thing Oscar can beat these days is his own meat as he stands in front of a mirror admiring how his now tiny body enhances his fishnet stockings!
Taylor easily destroys Bute. EASILY!!! Bute showed what he's got against Andrade and let me tell you, it wasn't much more than dancing. Talyor in 5 and Bute does not get saved by the ref this time.
Now Kessler/Talyor would be a good even fight. It could go either way.
Such a return could be great for boxing IF the promoters fill up the undercard with good fights. Prospects fighting tomato cans does nothing to promote boxing in general. Use the captive large audience to your advantage and they will come back to see those fighters as headliners. The Pac vs DLH undercard was horrendous!
Ward's only problem is that he might be fighting to the level of his competition. His management needs to step up his opponenets because he's ready for some real top-level fights. This fringe contenders, such as Buchannon will never bring out the best in Andre. The time is now for him. He's not getting any younger - not that he's old new, but come on. I just have a feeling that Ward can step up his game a few notches if he has to if and when he fights a Top 10 contender.
On the other hand, some credit should go to Buchannon for at least having a good chin. He took alot of hard shots and was never in much trouble.
Jake,
Appreciate the time you take to respond to the peanut gallery here. It take guts and dedication to do that - almost as much as it takes to run a marathon during a heatwave!
Gamboa would be crushed. Trust me, I like Gamboa, but there is no way he survives a fight with Vasquez. Maybe 2-3 year from now, but definately not ready now.
Poor ref'ing aside, Bute won. Even if the ref wasn't a cheater (he was), Bute would still have beat the count. Andrade did beat the crap out of Bute, but lost anyway - fair and square.
Next time Andrade shouldn't wait for the final 2 rounds to finally try hard.
That being said, Bute is a sorry, no power fighter who would get the beat down by Pavlik, Kessler, Abraham, or any other quality fighter.
Abraham is going about this all wrong. He needs to fight in America, or at least fight a boxer known in America if he ever wants a big fight one day. These nobodies aren't going to cut it.
Yeah baby, 100th post!! Give me some love!!!:luvbed:
