Former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor is very interested in the final result of the upcoming bout between Carl Froch and Jean Pascal, taking place on December 6. A few weeks ago, Taylor made his super middleweight debut and beat up former Olympic teammate Jeff Lacy to earn the nunber one ranking under the WBC at 168. Froch and Pascal, both unbeaten, will clash for the vacant WBC title at 168. Taylor called the Lacy win the most important of his career.
"I saw how important this fight was and how I had to win. I knew that if I didn't win that fight, I'd be fighting in small places," Taylor told ArkansasSports360.
The winner of Froch-Pascal will become the frontrunner opponent for Taylor in 2009. Taylor was going to be the one to fight Froch for the vacant title, but HBO was more interested in Taylo facing Lacy and weren't willing to put up the same amount of money for Froch, an unknown to most American fans. Taylor promises to become a champion again.
"Tell everybody in Little Rock I don't plan to stop until I get the title back," Taylor said.
