David Haye feels that IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is afraid to fight him. Negotiations have been dragging on for a potential June 20 clash and Haye is getting concerned about the fight actually taking place. Haye is already thinking about making an alternate plan in the event of the fight fully falling apart.
Haye was first in talks to fight older brother Vitali Klitschko, but Vitali was put under pressure to fight his WBC mandatory, Juan Carlos Gomez. Vitali meets Gomez on March 21 in Germany. After Vitali was out of the present picture, Wladimir was back in the mix. The two sides began talks, but Haye is at the point where he questions the fighting hearts of both brothers and believes they only want handpicked opponents.
"I was a lot more confident about the fight happening two weeks ago than I am now,” Haye told the South London Press. “I think the two brothers are not the warriors they claim to be.
“They don’t want the biggest and best fights out there - they want to handpick their opponents. It’s fair enough but they obviously aren’t worried about the legacy they leave behind."
