The Buster Douglas fight was no fluke. Seen the fight many times, and Buster plain out boxed Tyson. Tyson is not that smart of boxer. I don't think prime Tyson was good in a tough fight. Every tough fight he has been in he has lost.
Tyson has beat no top fighters. Prime Tyson was only 215 so he would have problems against Vitali. Plus Tyson's chin was not that good. I give Evander a better chance then Tyson.
I think Evander, Lewis, Bowe all beat prime Tyson. Tyson never beat that level of competition. Prime Tyson was only around 215 with not such a great chin. And I don't think Tyson is that smart of boxer. I think there are smarter boxer's then Tyson.

Congratualtions.....and i don't mean to be so rude or disparaging...but quite honestly that is the most ill informed post i have seen on this forum since i joined...especially the part in bold............
He has been stopped 5 times. To me that does not qualify as a good chin.
stopped in what manner...........when has he been truly KO'd....he gave up against Lewis....he wasn't shaky at all...he could have got up..........the only time he has ever truly had his bell rung was against Douglas....and it took 10rds of repeated clean shots to send him down...go watch it.....
" I was surprised and shocked at some of the punches that he took" - LENNOX LEWIS
Lewis hit him with bombs the whole fight that would have sent anyone else crashing down..............
Yeah, Lewis hit him hard. And Tyson took a lot of hard hits,And he is tough. But Vitali took the same shots and he was standing and complaining about the stop to the fight. And Vitali has never been knocked out. And he can punch almost as hard as Lewis.
The ability to take a punch does not change much. Tyson would get knocked out in his prime by Lewis, Bowe, Wladimir,VItali, and Evander. Prime Tyson has a good chance against Wladimir and Lewis they have so so chins themselfs.
tyson beat spinks, razor, tucker, tubbs, thomas, biggs etc..
that shits pretty hard on vitalis resume.. gomez, arreola, peter, sanders, williams etc.. some of them didnt even come to fight or come in shape.
tyson had a great chin, all his stoppages were due to accumulated punishment. have u acctually watched his fights with douglas, holyfield and lewis and not just the KO clip? he took insane amounts of punishment in all those fights before he got taken out. very few HWs in the history of boxing wouldve lasted as long as he did taking shots like that, also keep in mind he had a lung decease which made it hard for him to breathe and heavily affected his cardio. he always fougth guys bigger than him, his speed, skills and boxing IQ more than made up for it. it would against vitali aswell.
tyson and holyfield in their primes both wipe the canvas with vitali.
I have seen most of Tyson's fights,I was born in 1976. Spinks looked washed up in the Tyson fight. Spinks looked soft and scared. Prime Tyson fought no one that looked that good to me. I think both klitschko's, Lewis, Evander, Bowe, beat Tyson.
As far as where he is on p4p list I think he is overrated. On this forum I think he is underrated by many posters.
He did not look good for the 4 rounds against Cintron,an unfinished fight. But other then that he has looked good in his fights. Meanwhile Pavlik has looked bad in his fights for 2 years now.
Hopkins was bigger then Pavlik. Pavlik would be much bigger then Mayweather. Floyed is good but I don't think he can beat someone that much of a size advantage.
If he starts winning against real middle weights great. But I don't see much besides great punch output. How good is his chin? Can he even hurt a big man? So far to me he looks like Kelly Pavlik. With less power.
Yeah he can take a punch from a 150 pound man. But he is bigger then that. He should be a middle weight. Lots of the guys he has fought have been small compared to him. Even Sergio was way smaller and hurt him bad.
Kelly was hit a lot in his last fight. I don't know if he had a hand problem or not. Pavlik may hit harder but Pwill looks a little faster. Should be a good fight if Kelly is not a drunk like the rumors say.
Everyone he fights is smaller then him. Lots of guys weight 160 but could be 145. Sergio was a small fighter compared to Pwill. He fights small fighters cause he cant punch.
I think Paul is good but not great. I like him because he fights and have enjoyed the three fights of his I have seen. But I don't know how great he will be at middle weight or higher. If your in guys faces fighting them to be really good you need power. And when boxers move up in weight it does not help their power or their chin. At middle weight I would compare him to someone like Juan Diaz. What is so great about Pwill? He gets hit does punch that hard and he has good hand speed but not great. Best thing he has going for him is his height but at middle weight his height is not so great.
Normaly you cant just exspect to edge out a champ with a decision. Its even worse for a non American. So Martinez will have his work cut out for him. Plus Martinez looked very small compared to Pwill. And Pavlik is even bigger and harder hitting. Should be a good fight. Would rather see Pwill and Pavlik though. They are both action fighters.
He did not duck Pwill. He had a hand problem and wanted to change the fight date. But Pwill fought someone else instead. Martienz has a good chance of outpointing Pavlik. But the fight could be the third bad decision in a row for Martienz.
I don't know if the formula for beating Pavlik that hopkins showed, would have worked as well if Hopkins had have been five foot ten. And comming up in weight to fight Pavlik. I think Pavlik can win against Martinez by KO.
not at all, youre dead wrong sorry. UFC is the ultimate and ONLY proving grounds in MMA.. The only Heavyweight not in the UFC that does anything is Fedor and he needs to come to the UFC to compete with the best. There are a few more guys as well, but you can be good and fight in Strikeforce and DREAM and other organizations, but you must be GREAT to fight in the UFC, and if youre losing too many fights, Dana White will send you your release papers, and thats the damn truth... If there was no UFC there is no MMA right now, and that is why all the greatest MMA fighters prove themselves there.
Toughest fight I saw Silva in was against Henderson. Henderson is not in the UFC. Fedor could beat Brock and the heavy weight Champ in strike force would have a chance. I watch a lot of the leagues there are some light weights that I think would give BJ problems. Look at that middle weight lowazo he was kicking butt in the UFC. Had deadly elbows. Meanwhile fighting in Canadian leagues he has lots 9 of 18 fights. Still I think the UFC is doing a way better job promoting the sport.
Boxing is a sport that has been refined through the years. There are reasons behind all the rules. What is MMA going to turn into 5 years from now? Wont be long before elbows will be gone and knees, they are to dangerous. Seriously some ones skull is going to crack wide open. And another problem is hitting a guy when he is on the ground. Even now the refs cant stop the fights fast enough. Seen lots of guys get hit full force when they are out cold on the floor. Watch any so called classic MMA fight its mostly boxing anyway whats the point. Only reason I watch it is because boxing is rarely on T.V.
Yeah man, last Sunday Jonny Jones fought Brandon Vera, and cracked his SKULL in three different places with ONE elbow strike. That shits crazy.
Yeah I saw that, it is crazy. Just imagine your head braced against the floor. And a physical specimen like Tyson driving all his weight into the center of your forehead. With his elbow, which has to be 10 times dencer bone then a human skull. Skull cracks open brain pops out.
This thread is retarded. The main difference between Boxing and MMA is that if Pacquiao and Mayweather were UFC fighters, Dana White would have made that fight happen.
That's true if they were in the UFC. But lots of good MMA fighters fight in another league that could beat lots of guys in the UFC.
Yeah man, last Sunday Jonny Jones fought Brandon Vera, and cracked his SKULL in three different places with ONE elbow strike. That shits crazy.
Fedor could not beat Brock in my book, Brock is competing with the best in the sport and the champion of the league, Fedor needs to step up and fight elite competition, which he is not doing now... Fedor is the champ of Strikeforce? You mean the league that Had Hershel Walker defeat one of their fighters? Yeah, that's competition for you.
Fedor is not the heavy weight champ of strike force. Its another guy I don't know his name though. He is about Brocks size and looks east indian or something to me. Brock was just a wrestler if he is so good how come he was not in the Olympics?
He has been beat up bad of late. Pavlik knocked him out,and their next fight he was beaten up quite a bit. Then Froch and Abraham knock him out. I don't think he needs another beating from Ward. Not the way Ward looked against Kessler.
I heard George stopped to spend time with his kids, but he sure did raise Merchant's hackles. Merchant (Lampley too sometimes) seemed to cringe every time George opened his mouth. George was (in)famous for saying some crazy, non-sensical and contradictory shit, but he also came up with some really insightful gems from time to time. I thought he was pretty damn good. Better than Roy IMO. Roy was better than Lennox though.
George did a good job made things more entertaining, Lennox is boring.
Abraham was probably trying to K.O him as soon as he could not get the decision. He could not do it, so it would not have been easy to do in the 12th either. Maybe he could have, but he blew his chance when he was dumb and hit Dirrell when he was down.
