Alright, there are a lot of boxing vs MMA debates, I'll settle this **** once and for all.
Fighting Spirit
You and your opponent are both paid handsomely to fight till the end of the scheduled bout. Here are a few examples of what is customary in each sport.

Hyping a fight is a big part of the fight game. Here are some quotes from each sport.

Boxing Quotes:
"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. You can't hit what you can't see" - Muhammad Ali
"Down Goes Frazier! Down Goes Frazier!" - Howard Cosell
"I hospitalized a rock, killed a brick...I'm so bad I make medicine sick!" - Muhammad Ali
You conveniently picked the worst examples of MMA.
As if there hasn't been professional Boxers who performed like complete shit...that's NEVER happened before...lol
Yeah man, last Sunday Jonny Jones fought Brandon Vera, and cracked his SKULL in three different places with ONE elbow strike. That shits crazy.
Fedor could not beat Brock in my book, Brock is competing with the best in the sport and the champion of the league, Fedor needs to step up and fight elite competition, which he is not doing now... Fedor is the champ of Strikeforce? You mean the league that Had Hershel Walker defeat one of their fighters? Yeah, that's competition for you.
Fedor is not the heavy weight champ of strike force. Its another guy I don't know his name though. He is about Brocks size and looks east indian or something to me. Brock was just a wrestler if he is so good how come he was not in the Olympics?
I hate MMA but I would really be interested in watching Fedor vs. Brock Lesnar, It's the equivalent to Mayweather Pacquiao.
not even. Fedor would wipe the floor with brock lesnar. Mayweather Pacquiao would be actually be competitive.
Toughest fight I saw Silva in was against Henderson. Henderson is not in the UFC. Fedor could beat Brock and the heavy weight Champ in strike force would have a chance. I watch a lot of the leagues there are some light weights that I think would give BJ problems. Look at that middle weight lowazo he was kicking butt in the UFC. Had deadly elbows. Meanwhile fighting in Canadian leagues he has lots 9 of 18 fights. Still I think the UFC is doing a way better job promoting the sport.

Yeah I saw that, it is crazy. Just imagine your head braced against the floor. And a physical specimen like Tyson driving all his weight into the center of your forehead. With his elbow, which has to be 10 times dencer bone then a human skull. Skull cracks open brain pops out.
not at all, youre dead wrong sorry. UFC is the ultimate and ONLY proving grounds in MMA.. The only Heavyweight not in the UFC that does anything is Fedor and he needs to come to the UFC to compete with the best. There are a few more guys as well, but you can be good and fight in Strikeforce and DREAM and other organizations, but you must be GREAT to fight in the UFC, and if youre losing too many fights, Dana White will send you your release papers, and thats the damn truth... If there was no UFC there is no MMA right now, and that is why all the greatest MMA fighters prove themselves there.

Now, I admit I don't know a lot about UFC, but I've seen enough fights to know if all those fighters are "great" then there is a huge lack of talent.
Some fighters arent as experienced so they dont know as much in certain areas, but theyre given chances because of a good record and being strong in certain backgrounds, and if they dont adjust and do well in the first few fights theyre usually let go, and they feed them to guys who are also losing fights, alotta times it's winner keeps his job! There is no lack of talent in MMA, theyve got many great fighters, and theyre all in the UFC... I think each weight class has about 25-30 fighters in UFC, and all of those guys are great, but the top 10 is alot different then the 20-30 if you know what im saying, thats why they might seem like they have no talent
This thread is retarded. The main difference between Boxing and MMA is that if Pacquiao and Mayweather were UFC fighters, Dana White would have made that fight happen.
I would like to know how you came to the conclusion that this is the main difference between boxing and mma.If Pac and Floyd were both with Arum then the fight would also get made.Let me know when Dana makes Fedor vs Brock and then you can talk about fights not getting made in boxing.
but you must be GREAT to fight in the UFC,

That's true if they were in the UFC. But lots of good MMA fighters fight in another league that could beat lots of guys in the UFC.

Boxing is a sport that has been refined through the years. There are reasons behind all the rules. What is MMA going to turn into 5 years from now? Wont be long before elbows will be gone and knees, they are to dangerous. Seriously some ones skull is going to crack wide open. And another problem is hitting a guy when he is on the ground. Even now the refs cant stop the fights fast enough. Seen lots of guys get hit full force when they are out cold on the floor. Watch any so called classic MMA fight its mostly boxing anyway whats the point. Only reason I watch it is because boxing is rarely on T.V.

You have a point.
