He ain't far off IMO, people need toc start realising that these so called 'greatests' will be knocked off one day, just like people say Pele was the greatest and he'll never be topped, well i think Zinedine Zidane is the greatest, and Manny could very well overtake Ali one day.
Just my opinion though.
2 years ago he hadn't been brutally KO'd.
I think people forget what a KO like that can do to you, not to mention the beating he took from Martinez in the 1st fight. His punch resistance is started to go, he got visibly rocked a few times last night.
Hope he retires healthy, he gave us some great action fights, he just wasn't the elite fighter he thought he was.
When I was watching it with some friends, they all said Williams looked different against Lara. I didnt notice it too much though.
I didnt say P.will-Martinez I was a robbery, it was a close, but clear (IMO) decision for Sergio.
I also felt Cintron was landing some leather before that farce ended.
Williams is very lucky he has Goossen and Al Haymon on his side, these guys are very shady, but powerful.
Hes afraid ppl will see flaws or the way he spars. Hes said he sometimes he spars for 12 mins with no breaks. All lil secrets hes very protective of.
He shook.
I love watching the crowd too when stuff like this happens.
I remember some hot models had an "O" face when Sergio KO'd Williams.
Bernard Hopkins, Naazim and Nate Campbell all jumped up and start talking when Casamayor knocked down Katsidis.
Di Bella ran to get himself in position to run into the ring when Taylor almost KO'd Pavlik, how funny that was in hindsight.
That was Winky? I'm not looking at the video but I know exactly who you're talking about in the crowd, he's on Corrales left side if I'm not mistaken. Right behind Castillo waving in like begging Corrales to just let the punches go.
I've got to see that now. I never even knew it was Winky.
Yes, thats Winky Wright wearing the baseball cap if I remember correctly, James Toney is looking all business like next to him in a flashy suit.
In the Sergio-Paul Williams first fight, after Round 1 ends, the 2 refs that are seated along the ring where the commentators are, look at them.. they both high five each other like they know they're going to see a great fight.
i've watched round 10 of corrales castillo so many ****ing times just to see the crowds reaction. some white dude in a suit was going ****ing nuts when corrales got the stoppage. also JCC and JR were in awe when corrales got the stoppage.
You remember Winky was in the crowd next to James Toney, who was wearing a suit?
Winky was on the phone and right when the ref stops the fight, Winky was waving Corrales in like he wanted to throw them punches himself, he really got into that fight hard.
Also...... in the first JMM-Juan Diaz fight, as Marquez gets hit while on the ropes, theres a woman whos shaking her head in disgust as Diaz lands headshots and she turns away.
Women hate those headshots.
I've watched so many great fights again and again, I can tell you stuff other people dont even pick up on.
I think people need to give Rafael some slack, he gets some huge hate over here lol. Yeah it was a bad scoring card, but his opinion is just that... an opinion.
I don't really like his written articles that much (seems biased sometimes), but I don't loathe the guy. And from what I've seen he doesn't always put out terrible scorecards. Why do people hate him so much? :dunno:
Because hes never stepped foot in a ring but talks all this garbage about some truly hard working fighters.
Its funny how he critiques some of the most top athletes in the world, yet hes a fat slob of a human being, he knows very little about boxing.. hes just on a big platform (ESPN) to make people think he does.
Industry people hate him, ask around.
maybe sitting ringside he saw things differently like being distracted by a chillie dog and a large bucket of chicken. With that said if you watched it on TV there is no possible way you could score that fight berto. He won like 3 rounds.
Exactly.
I could understand them giving him 4 rounds max and even thats a stretch for me...... but they all score it for Berto? Hes laying on the ropes basically all night, looking sloppy as hell, no jabs, simply being outfought.
Harold Lederman was in the exact same arena and he scored it pretty well, so did his daughter if I remember correctly.
Martinez wanted 1.5 to 2 million to fight Cotto. How can anyone blame Arum or Cotto for those fights not happening?
At least Sergio Martinez is the recognized MW champ, so he can demand a good share of the $$$. Berto is a guy who fights scrubs and has Floyds leftover belt.
Not being funny but Haye will smash Wlad and Wlad is scared shitless, i'm, not being a hugger here, its a fact, Haye does Wlad in 5 easy!!!! Bets? PM me, John Locke BTW.
How can you comapre your parents still in some way being in your life to 2 parents who one after the other disown their children and leave them to live their lives as kids?
Who taught Floyd how to box? His daddy did!
If Floyd Sr never got into boxing, who knows what "Junior" would be doing now.
They're brothers and brothers fight.
It makes it a little worse when its all in the boxing news, but they will settle things one day, I just feel theres alot more to it and too many other people involved speaking about it when they shouldn't.
