JMM moving up to fight Floyd, now Manny is more about the money than winning or losing. These two fights will earn JMM much much more than any other fights he has every had with somebody else not named Mayweather or Pacquiao.
The Ring Title was Vacant in the Welterweight division.
This fight should have been for the title. Ring should have been there with the belt.
Ring requires no sanctioning fee, correct?
somehow, they don't include the ring belt in making the announcement before the start of the fight, do they? And making someone the ring champ is normally declared when ring updates their list, not at the end of a particular fight.
manny didnt say shit..his advisors did..manny would fight wlad if arum told him to...foreman isnt a top rank fighter,margois..plain and simple
co-sign. The people making all these noises are those around Pacquiao, and not Pacquiao himself. They are just using Margarito as talk bait, the same thing they did with Humberto Soto. Whenever a fight is being worked out, they always say they have Humberto Soto ready to fight Pacquiao as an alternative. It sucks because they ain't anywhere near Pacquiao's level and doesnt provide any value, be it Soto or Margarito. They should just stop as it just increase the hate.
Mosley just wasnt in the same level as Mayweather. Mayweather is so good, that he makes those he faced look bad. The point now is who can provide Mayweather some level of competition? Boxing fans can't continue paying good money to watch lopsided fights like Mayweather-Mosley (the pre-fight hype was there, but the actual match was one-sided after the 2nd round) and Pacquiao-Clottey (this one was a shutout, no thanks to Clottey).
50-50 split shouldn't be a problem because they are both crowd drawers. The last fight of PAC have been bested by PBF because he hase shane as an opps whose a crowd drawer as well.
They just have to agree with the condition on PED testing. Anyways, the PED testing have been started by PBF. He has not demanded it when he fought JMM. Somehow, indirectly admitting that PAC is at a different level and he might be afraid of losing that O in his record.
IMO, i don't think losing that 0 in his record is at the top of his priority. He admits its all about MONEY, and there is no greater money than a fight with pacquiao. Assuming the fight happens and Pacquiao wins, then it opens up to a potential rematch that will break the record that is expected to be set by the 1st match. If Mayweather wins, a rematch may still happen depending on how competitive that fight ends up.
Arguing over the split purse and the insistence on the drug test are mainly a pride issue. Since Mayweather has put his foot down on his drug test requirement, I am sure it is something he will not back down from. He has shown he is willing to compromise, based previously on the failed negotiations where he was amenable to 14 days. So Mayweather is just pushing through with what he started on the drug issue. On the purse sharing, it is still all hype on the chance that they won't come to an agreement. What they receive IF Mayweather and Pacquiao fight will break all records, both for their guaranteed amount, and PPV, so there will be enough to go around.
Both want to stand their ground and not show the other who gave in first. Pride.
at that weight division, it is mandatory to use 10 oz. At the 147lbs, there is still an option to use the 8 oz as long as the fighters agree to it. This option is not available at the 154lbs.
HOW TO DEFINE CONTROVERSIAL IN THIS FIGHT.
The way the fight was ended, with Cintron falling out of the ring
The way they decided to go to the scorecards rather than declaring it a no contest.
The way the scorecards went, with one judge scoring it a shutout for Williams, and another scoring it a shutout for Cintron.
I don't know anymore which among those I mentioned was worse.
pacquiao should put his foot down and say NO to a Margarito fight. He should not support what Margarito did to cause his suspension. Just because Arum offered Cotto or Margarito doesnt mean Pacquiao's choices are limited to them.
I hope so. In another article, it stated there that the wife was still in a fighting mood several hours before the meetup. There may be a genuine reconciliation with the father and son, but I don't know with the wife if its heartfelt. Maybe she is joining for the sake of Nonito because its all over the internet how the wife has stated how the father stole all those money, so how can Nonito claim to just be misquoted. But I am willing to give him/them the benefit of the doubt.
Are we talking of Humberto Soto here? IMO, people are giving him more than he really is. He is not a top notch fighter, and he won't stand a chance with the likes of JMM (WBA/WBO) in 135 (though he MAY have a chance with IBF champ Vazquez) what more with Khan (WBA) or Bradley (WBC/WBO) in 140.
If they fight each other, the limelight will be focused back at the heavyweight division. But it wouldn't happen. Right now, there is no one available to create a serious challenge to them and the dearth of competition will not bring the heavyweight division out of their doldrums.
Is this writer forreal? This is very surface level reasoning.
It may be partly based on what Arum said to Dan Rafael, which is stated in page 2 of the article.
This..
...That is going to affect all of our relationships in the coming years and I emphasize all of our relationships."
Yeah...he says that every time he doesn't get what he wants. But still, this article may be something that comes to mind initially but not when you dig a little deeper. For starters, there isn't one quote from HBO.
Arum has been known to play around with media, saying this, but doing the opposite. If HBO shows him the money, I doubt it if Arum will say no.
Maybe to Top Rank and try to gain a fight with Pacquiao. A fight with Pacquiao will be equivalent to several fight purse worth, might as well get it in one shot.
Bob is all about the money. If HBO blinks, then Arum will be offered a nice sum. But now that Showtime has the ball, I doubt they will let it go this time.
