As a quick side note, I would love to see that video of Ward and Gatti sharing a hospital room, anywhere I could download it?
Ward does have more class than most people. He gives back to amature boxing here and recently ran a marathon for disabled athletes. good dude.
For example, I didn't like Mayorga. I'm just not into the whole image.
It even taints a great fighter for me if they have a big mouth, for example, I don't like Floyd Mayweather Junior, and I am not a huge Muhammed Ali fan. I can respect their ability as fighters, I just prefer someone who is a bit more modest. I don't know. what's your opinion on the matter?
I dont know enough about either fighter to pass judgement, but I am not a huge Litzau fan. I knew Hernandez was going to knock him out after his first knock down.
Yea, the Gatti/Ward trilogy is incredible. The interviews after the fights they just show so much respect to each other and it all seems genuine. I don't know, I love both fighters.
Nah, he wouldnt be p4p #1. I do think that he would be in a great position to become recognized as being among the premire p4p fighters. Mayweather would take a serious hit in his rankings in the pound for pound category though.
It's true, Ward is a true gentleman with class. Not to mention a left hook to the body straight from hell. I won't lie, I am slightly biased towards him because he is Boston Irish like myself. Plus he is just fun to watch.
Gatti does talk a lot sometimes. But I don't know, I can't help but love the guy. He is a warrior, and I think he has had some great fights.
I agree that Mayweather and Ali back up their talk, and I do love to watch both of them fight, I guess it would just be more satisfying if they were more modest. Then again, modesty wouldnt be appreciated without the alis and mayweathers.
I also agree with BigSlick. A good chin is great, and a brawler mentality makes a fight more exciting. Word.
I believe De La Hoya will knock him out. I think his power and those combos will just be too much for him. Not to say that it won't be a close fight. I believe it will certainly be close fight.
Also, I think if Floyd chose to continue to fight after this fight, and he lost, it would help him immensely. I just get the feeling that he could gain a lot from it.
I don't think Litzau's chin was glass, but I agree with everyone who said it wasn't that great. More importantly, I think he was fighting stupidly. He was winning every round but the first, and he knew that, but he ignored his trainer and tried to brawl with hernandez.
Big mistake. Hernandez is tough as nails. He took big shots all night, I think he was staggered once, that's it. Litzau saw the danger of his big right hand the first time he got knocked down, and ignored it. I was actually rooting for Hernandez, especially after I saw the right uppercut/right hook that scored him that first knock down. I think that this loss is going to be helpful to Litzau. Something to keep him grounded.
Never
I think that boxing is in a lull, I do not think it is dying. Right now things are poised to get great again. There are tons of great new fighters, and Valuev will need to be slain. Movies like Cindarella Man, Million Dollar Baby, and now Rocky Balboa are helping create more interest. The Contender is helping so much. I think even MMA is helping, because it gets people interested in combat sports in general. Tito Ortiz is a wanker, he doesnt know shit. He would get fucked up if he stepped into a ring with those guys.
I don't think Kid Achilles is makin any racist comments. I think people read way too much into shit like that.
I'll tell you what though, I just don't like cocky fighters as much as modest ones. A victory seems so much more meaningful if it is for a modest fighter who doesnt think he is king shit.
Trip to New York...
Whatever. I do not care how well/poorly this does on PPV. I love John Duddy, he is a fuckin great fighter, I am gettin my ass to New York, and I am going to that fight.
