Anyone else think so? He should've won this fight easily.
Jose Hernandez also looks a bit like Little Mac, lol.
BTW, Jason's Achille's heel is his jaw. He has no beard. Contrats, Jose!
All I gots to say about Litzau is despite his suspect chin he's got great mobility, fundamentals and rythym. He has a lot to learn but can one day maybe move up in weight and win a belt or two.
I don't think Litzau's chin was glass, but I agree with everyone who said it wasn't that great. More importantly, I think he was fighting stupidly. He was winning every round but the first, and he knew that, but he ignored his trainer and tried to brawl with hernandez.
Big mistake. Hernandez is tough as nails. He took big shots all night, I think he was staggered once, that's it. Litzau saw the danger of his big right hand the first time he got knocked down, and ignored it. I was actually rooting for Hernandez, especially after I saw the right uppercut/right hook that scored him that first knock down. I think that this loss is going to be helpful to Litzau. Something to keep him grounded.
His chin isnt that bad, but its not that good either.
He showed that he can be ko'd with one punch and that is not a good sign.
Was it one punch?
He took numerous overhand rights in the fight because he kept exposing himself when he through his left hook. He should have just focused on jabbing, and shooting his own right which is pretty good.
He outboxed the guy silly, no question. But he is a brawler and wants to fight. The overhand right that clocked him didn't it land a little higher than just his chin, I thought it landed on the side of his head, anyway, it was an awkward punch at an odd angle you aren't likely to get hit with often.
The guy he was fighting had a really good chin, or Litzuas punching power is not as great as we thought (but I think it is pretty good). He was landing at will for a lot of the fight. But he wouldn't listen to his corner, that a sign of being young and inexperienced. They told him to stay outside and he had the fight in the bag, with his reach he could have put the guy away without exchanging at all. 5'10 and 126 pounds, that's a crazy frame.
I'm 5'10.5" and I am struggling to get to 147.
I saw a young fighter in Litzau who wore his intentions on his sleeve. The announcers had already said he practiced the mentality that going the distance was boring- he wants to knock people out. Sure, that might get you fans but it doesn't always mean you're following the smartest game plan. Look at all the fans Gatti has and how many times he's just been spanked- really whooped.
Litzau showed me youth and inexperience coupled with his sheer confidence in his ability to knock a guy out. Why would you be that reckless when the guy across from you put you down in the very first round? I call it getting cocky.
Lessons from 2006 - Don't get cocky:
Green vs. McCreedy
Litzau vs. Hernadez.
Absolutely. Litzau had to be smart- and entertaining. But smart first and foremost. I've seen great warriors like Holyfield back up at times.. He was slugging too much, he should have picked his shots. I think he put way too much ephasis on the cameras and the crowd. Look good- but win. Win dammit..
I appreciate that he was a man of his word and took chances, but he hurt all the people who were supporting him by ignoring his trainers instructions.
I saw the same thing with Berto. These guys unload the whole bag of tricks in the first 30 seconds. How about waiting like X, or Oscar to fully unload after the opponent thinks he's seen your hardest stuff- then CRUNCH!
...Like that monologue Antonio Banderas gave in "Play It To The Bone.."
I don't think he has a good chin. With that being said you would think that he would keep his left hand up more often. Being hard headed lost him that fight.
no pun intended right? lol
I dont think there is much wrong with Litzaus chin, in the first round anyone woulda gone down from that shot.
In the last round Litzau was discouraged cus he hit Hernandez with everything including the kitchen sink and Hernandez was still there, add to that the fatigue of all the activitiy he was doing, and then he got rocked by numerous shots in that round before he finally got hit with one that nearly merged his head and his shoulder together.
Just a bad night for litzau he can come back.
He reminds me a lot of... what is the other fighter from Minnesota? Not the greatest chin... decent, capable fighter who might've won a single belt or was a #1 contendor until losing in like 2001ish. Can't believe his name escapes me.

Getting KTFO may actually help him remember that he doesnt get to hold his left hand down by his crotch when he is fighting.
Then again we've all seen guys that never really come back from getting wrecked like that.
I hope he's ok...with some experience.....he could make a run at it.
His D did make that possible...but I will give the guy credit he took some huge shots before being K.O.'d unlike Gibbs it was the build up of alot of huge right hands that led to that late round K.O. nothing should or is being taken away from Hernandez he was great and won a fight that he was losing in late rounds...hats off to him. The point is Litzau doesn't have a glass jaw...a glass jaw is when a fighter gets k.o.'d early numerous times with one punch...Litzau appeared to me to have more problems keeping his hands up and defending that right that hit him NUMEROUS times and very hard...Glass Jaw fighters rarely get up and take control of a fight...let alone get up put on a clinic and then get careless...he is young and poorly trained from a defensive point of view IMO.

They used to compare him to Arturo Gatti alot because he was a white kid with the big punch that liked to brawl. Only thing is that Gatti had the kind of body structure that could sustain a blow to the head, and kept his chin tucked. If you're getting knocked out with one overhand right, you probably should be looking at other things to do with your life. Boxing is a rough business.
It wasnt "that" one punch that KO'd him. It was a series of bombs in the 8th round that did him in. His chin is supspect but it aint glass.
Oh, but it was that one punch. Even without the "series of bombs" from the 8th, that unseen punch just knocked him silly. The most dangerous punch is the one you don't see. That right came from such a weird angle that Jason never had a chance.
litzau deserved to get ktfo like that. he's hardheaded (not literally) and didn't listen to his corner so he got what was coming to him.
hernandez looks like a nerd. a pasty little goof...who could knock your block off though.
Anyone else think so? He should've won this fight easily.

I also thought Jason would win. I really like him, too, and was a bit disapointed with this loss.
I was just thinking how Jason needs at least 10 more fights before he fights for a title because he's just toooooo green. So many missed opportunities, especially to the body. He did not work his hands on the inside and he kept his left waaaaay to low.
