What makes a great fight?

As a quick side note, I would love to see that video of Ward and Gatti sharing a hospital room, anywhere I could download it? Ward does have more class than most people. He gives back to amature boxing here and recently ran a marathon for disabled athletes. good dude.

It's true, Ward is a true gentleman with class. Not to mention a left hook to the body straight from hell. I won't lie, I am slightly biased towards him because he is Boston Irish like myself. Plus he is just fun to watch. Gatti does talk a lot sometimes. But I don't know, I can't help but love the guy. He is a warrior, and I think he has had some great fights. I agree that Mayweather and Ali back up their talk, and I do love to watch both of them fight, I guess it would just be more satisfying if they were more modest. Then again, modesty wouldnt be appreciated without the alis and mayweathers. I also agree with BigSlick. A good chin is great, and a brawler mentality makes a fight more exciting. Word. I can respect their ability as fighters, I just prefer someone who is a bit more modest. I don't know. what's your opinion on the matter? Well, I love Mickey Ward because he truly is a gentlman with class. Gatti talks a little more than I prefer at times. Nobody says it but the guy has an ego - as a fighter I love Gatti, overall - Gatti I adore. He does have a mouth, though. I agree. But I don't resent Ali or Mayweather. They back up the talk. I don't like talkers who can't back it up.

I dont know enough about either fighter to pass judgement, but I am not a huge Litzau fan. I knew Hernandez was going to knock him out after his first knock down. Yea, the Gatti/Ward trilogy is incredible. The interviews after the fights they just show so much respect to each other and it all seems genuine. I don't know, I love both fighters. In your opinion, what is it that makes a great fight? Is it technical skills, great brawls, knockout punches or what? My personal favorite thing to watch is fighters with heart. Ward v. Gatti were some of my favorite fights. The people who get beat up and keep going, or who are outmatched and keep going, or keep throwing punches long after they should be on the canvas. I think both of those guys have the hearts of lions, and while neither are technically the greatest guys to watch, they are inspiring. I also like if a fighter is classy about his opponent. Call me old fashioned, but I grow tired of the shit talking, classless fighters who focus more on running their mouth than anything else. Just curious about what other people think makes a fight great. I agree that Gatti/Ward was great theatre. For me it was one of the great contests I've ever enjoyed. I sent that fight to my old man and he critizised the skills of both fighters. He paid no attention to the amazing back and forth, and spectacular drama. BTW: I guess you hate Paulie Malinaggi and Jason Litzau, right?

Just curious about what other people think makes a fight great. you mention "class" and "gatti-ward" which really went hand in hand, i was stunned after the first fight the way they showed each other so much respect which made it possible for them to be interviewed simultaneously... these days that kind of thing never happens... most anyone but gatti would have claimed a "screwjob" simply for being on the losing end of a close one. and then before the 2nd fight they showed the video of them sharing a hospital room after the first fight.... classic stuff to me the thing that takes a fight to a whole new level is a guy who gets knocked down and gets up and fights back and turns the tide of the fight.... heart is the most admirable quality any athlete, but especially a fighter, can possess.
