The Argentine peso was 1 for one to the dollar until a few years ago then it went 3 to 1 where it is now. I travel there every year and let me tell you that $100 dollars a ticket is way too much for how the economy is. The Rolling Stones were there in Feb and sold out two days and tickets started at $25 dollars and even that was expensive for a lot of people. Right now a big payday for Baldomir is here in the states not in Buenos Aires, would not mind it though cause Buenos Aires is a great city with a nighlife that wont quit and beautiful girls. I would love to go back to see Baldomir fight Maywather at River Plate Stadium.....that would be amazing.
That was pretty cool, thanks for posting that link. I really enjoyed watching Hamed fight back then. If he does come back I will be cheering for him.
CR
Arum believes that so much, he is talking to Ali's people as we speak to make the fight. They're going to be nice to Ali and only demand he comes in at 161 lbs for the fight. This one is for all the marbles..... Stay tuned for more details......
A pac-shane fight makes sense on a business level.... and nothing more.
I guess all fighters take tune ups so this is no difference.
My point is Marquez deserves this fight. No matter how you feel about him, it is obious this guy is going to the hall of fame. Again I repeat there is only a 1 point difference between the two. In this sport that is HARDLY an advantage.
So you feel Pac kills Maquez now? well that is to be seen but if Arum and company would put his fighter to handle unfinished business instead of following the dollar bill we would find out... but I guess not
I disagree.
This fight could be a good fight.
Mosley is still better than Margo, still more explosive than most if not all fighters Manny has fought.
People should forget the fights against May and Mora.
Mora is MW and he went 24 competitive with a guy like Forrest.
Mayweathe is Mayweather.
Style make fights, and since Manny is short and hittable,it's good for Mosley
I see your point and I agree styles do make fights. Im a die hard believer in that so I hope you're right. But after seeing Shane in his last two fights.... I gotta say from here this is not an fight I see that has potential for fireworks.
All I know is that this fight I won't be paying for a PPV... I might stream it but I'm not coughing up my hard earned money on this one.
Pac fans would pay to watch him hit a heavy bag if Top Rank offers that on PPV.. I on the other hand just want to see the top guys fight other top guys. So While I do agree you make valid points I think the evidence on hand points to just another mop up... and it's a shame because there is a fighter that regardless is he gets killed in 10 seconds of the 1st round, he deserves this shot but wont get it.. and to me that hurts boxing :boxing:
I think everyone should take olympic style RANDOM testing before a fight, not just Pac or Mayweather. From golden gloves to the pros. If you have nothing to hide then you have no problem. If needles "scare" you or "make you weak" then try another pass time.... like ballet. The steroid use in ALL sports is getting REALLY old and is a slap in the face to the history of the sport. So you wanna lace up and punch somebody in the face? well then take RANDOM blood tests.
Agreed. This will never happen though unfortunately. There is too much money because people want to see fast, explosive athletes. And you get fast and explosive athletes from drugs. Of course hard work and dedication and genetics play a big part, but without the drugs they won't be as fast and explosive.
I agree it will never happen... too bad though. I have never really agreed with Teddy Atlas on much but I did agree with him when he said steroid use in Boxing is a lot more dangerous then say baseball. In baseball you make a ball go a little further and what not... in boxing you're hitting somebody in the head, you know what I mean?
I rather see ****tier athletes but knowing they're 100% clean. Call me old school but knowing 100% that these guys are all clean then you can really compare them to the guys who came before them... the real greats of the sport. A bit of blood from everyone at random can bring about a lot clarity.
I don't know if Pac is on steroids or he is not... No evidence no conviction, but I ask the BIGGEST pacman fans out there.. would you bet your life on that he is not? ...... or to the biggest Pac haters, would you bet your life he is?
I'm sure your wouldn't....
Wlad Klitschko is one of my fav boxers but I would not bet anything on he is clean... I just don't know. I hope he is not but who knows what goes on behind close doors. Thats why Random blood test are needed, it lets us know if we're cheering for a farce...
exactly.if manny didn't wanna get called out by 154 fighters he should have never fought for a 154 belt and especially since that belt belonged to the man who has been calling manny out yet manny is to small
Exactly what I've been saying to everyone I know. There was a name we called fighters who "won" titles but did not defeat the actual champion for it then did not defend the title.... oh yeah it was "Paper Champion"... and that goes to any fighter who does that, NOT just Manny....
Yeah it's funny I can really only think of JMM vs Pac II.... and that was a close fight. It's fair to say it could have gone either way. So none of his recent victories get nowhere near as getting on that show. The De la hoya fight.... hmmmm I don't think so, he was too old and really no history between the two.
He doesn't need to prove anything,he just might want to cash in big time when he finally is in the position to do so. It's prizefighting, remember?
Sure and I would support the decision say pacquiao would sign the dotted line next week for a fight in may at the latest. That's just not going to happen. Marquez needs to think about my second point which is if it was him knocked out would manny fight him again? I don't think so. If Marquez would had lost in the fashion manny lost pacquiao wouldnt give him a rematch. The answer would have been, what for I just knocked you out.
If Marquez fights again it needs to be in a few months (summer time) vs Bradley or rios. After that win loose or draw he should retire.
Pacquiao if he is smart should take a nice break of a few months away from boxing. After that get back in the gym to train, if he still has the hunger and the skill then make a fight vs a soft opponent. If he wins then challenge mayweather for all the marbles. Heck even say he will fight for free to call him out. Nothing more out there for pacquiao to recapture his aura then to beat floyd. I don't think it will happen though.
Yeah, Pac isn't most guys, he was a great champion so he wanted a definitive win over Marquez. That's worthy of respect. He tried a fourth time, it didn't happen so now we have three close fights and one conclusive win for Marquez. Pac has tried four times to beat Marquez and he hasen't done it convincingly if they fight again in a year or two Marquez will be most likely be diminished with age, he is already slowing down. I don't think there is any time for a fifth fight.
I couldnt agree more with this response. Father time is against both guys here. For pacquiao to come back in a few months after suffering a knock out like that where he was put to sleep is not a great idea. If he wants to fight again he should take his time and do things the right way.
For Marquez to wait around getting older is crazy all for more money. The fourth fight ko brought closure, let's move on.
for jmm this shouldnt be an enough revenge if he wanted to prove his better than pac
he was getting busted by pac, with left hands
it kind of like a save by the bell type of fight but instead it was a save by the KO
which occurred because of pac stupidly jumping in to the punch
i dunno if he is satisfied with that KO
i certainly wouldnt if i was him
the Marquez vs Pac 5 will greatly be up to JMM
if it doesnt happen heres this reasons
1. he is satisfied with the KO
2. he is giving pac another chance to messed up his face again
3. pac might not be there anymore to jump in towards his punch to save him from another broken nose
4. he is afraid that 5 might end differently
if he got pacs number and MONEY MONEY MONEY and lots of MONEY is always there when they fight why shouldnt he take the 5th another easy fight?
What nobody seems to address is the focal point of my argument, which is the timing. Who in their right mind thinks Marquez should wait a minimum of 16 months to fight again. Manny is not going to jump right back in the ring vs Marquez. You want to talk about busting up, let's look at the reality which is manny got dropped by a big right hand in the 3rd and then was put to sleep in the 6th. He suffered a devastating knockout that has the potential to end a career.
What else does Marquez need to prove? That he can do it again at the ancient age of 42? Is it whoever scores two KOs in a row the winner?
The timing of it all hurts jmm a lot more than pacquiao. At the age of 39 Marquez is already pushing it, at 41-42 he is playing with fire. He should walk away with his huge victory and his health.
Manny is a beast, although they should of stopped the fight earlier:boxing:
easy to be a beast when somebody stands right in front of you and does not move their head. Also helps they're slow as if they were walking in mud.
Im not a fan of neither fighter but I must say the excuses coming out of that Pacquiao camp as just some WEAK ASS excuses. When they knew Floyd was going to be locked up you heard nothing about no cut, stadium not being built in time yada yada yada... now that Floyd is punking them they're coming out with a bunch of excuses.
I do not know how Pacquiao fans can defend this... really come on this is just pathetic.
Im not a Floyd fan nor a Pacquiao fan but Im not a hater either. I have issues with both fighters. With that said sometimes I can't stand Floyd's ****ty attitude towards the world. It's like he is so immature and acts like a jack ass. I mean think about this, he is the best boxer of this era. Does millions of PPV buys, the dude has the potential to be a cross over star. But where are the commercials he has done? any endorsements? he is such a hard worker in the gym yet gatorade has never put him in a commercial? At least manny did those corny cell phone commercials.
I for one think this short jail stint will be good for him. I hope he takes the long hours by himself without his crew kissing his ass to think about things. He might dominate in the ring but outside the ring he really needs to step up his game. Im not talking about selling out but be more mainstream friendly. I think boxing needs that. So im glad he is going to sit in a cell, may teach him that there are rules he needs to follow. They apply to us all Mr. "Money". After that he can come out, take a tune up in June and be ready to outbox Manny on Christmas day 2012, nice x-mas gift to us all. Floyd wins going away 9 rds to 3.
Because Arum wants it for June now. Why are you ignoring this?
It was ok to fight Marquez on May 5th when Floyd was going to be locked up but all of a sudden now it's not ok..... jeezzz man I tell you, that is EXTREMELY weak a$$ excuses. I don't remember any champion being called out and being clowned as a punk and just straight up taking it and hiding behind his promoter/daddy....
Think about it for a second. This guy has not lost in years yet he gets called a punk, the whole boxing community wants this fight and he does not demand his promoter to make the fight RIGHT NOW. Come on name one champion in the last 50 years to be called out like this and not make the fight?
I tell ya man, back in the day I was the biggest Mike Tyson fan but if back then somebody would had called Iron mike a "punk" and the response from Don King and Mike would had been the same lame excuses that Arum/pac have been putting out I would had been the first in line calling them a bunch of scared little girls.
This fight is as big as it's going to get. Arum and Pac look like a couple of mark-a$$ *****es for real. They're running scared and I hope it's explained to Pacquiao that the boxing community is clowning him right now. If he had any pride and he was confident about the fight he would tell Arum to STFU and make this fight! but nah on the other hand he keeps singing Arum's tune...
So if this fight does not get made I plan to never buy another Top Rank PPV. Im done giving money to Arum.. he seems to never get enough.
Wlad has been calling Haye out all week and all we get from Haye is radio silence......... The fact I have not heard anything from his mouth (make a video response) is telling me A LOT..
Haye you have been issued a challenge either step up, make the fight or STFU and go away.
Let Pac fight whomever Top Rank throws at him. They way I look at it is this:
VS Berto = I would pay for a nice HD PPV
VS Marquez = I would pay for a nice HD PPV
VS Mosley = If I have nothing else to do I would find a stream online and watch for free.
What does he gain from fighting mosley?
For Pac fans:
They get to see their man beat up an old but once great fighter. He makes money but proves nothing in terms of legacy. All of Pacland is happy and they get to have a concert after the fight.
For BOXING fans (not haters but people who just enjoy watching good fights):
For me that camp all about the safest highest paying opponent. Mosley is getting this fight because he is a brand name, to the average boxing fan they hear that name and they know it because he has been around for a long time. They will promote this fight where they will show clips of mosley landing that right hand on Mayweather on a constant loop.... the average PPV buyer does not know about how he was outboxed in that fight, how he got a draw and looked like crap against Mora from "The Contender"...
So for me this fight does not do crap in my book in terms of proving anything special. I'm still waiting to see a great fight like Taylor vs Chavez or Leonard vs Hearns out of the Pac camp. Unfortunately the opponents they choose don't bring anything that came make the fight a war like we all want to see.
There are two opponents out there. One is Mayweather but you know he is "on vacation" and Marquez. For everyone out there saying "he priced himself out", have you ever negotiated a contract? have you ever negotiated a salary? so do you expect him to just ask for $100,000 and just be thankful for the opportunity? no it's called a negotiation. So Arum dismisses it and that's that.... no they go high and he goes low.... he priced himself out and he is ducking pacquiao.... yeah ok.
If you think anybody had any chance of landing this fight against pac you're fooling yourself. Arum had mosley picked a long time ago. This is the perfect time to fight him.... and they will. So if you think Arum's word is the gospel please by all means keep on doing so. I on the other hand I can read between the line.
I wonder if manny realizes how weak all of this looks on him. Gets called a punk and all he says is "ahhhhhh talk to my manager" or something... come on man grow a pair step up and make this fight.
