Not sure if they book has been mentioned before here, I saw it in the local barnes n nobles and read some of it. Its about 10 or so former Tyson opponents and the stories leading up to the fights and the opponent's lives after the fights. Its pretty interesting and the guy who wrote it interviews Mitch "blood" Green, Marvis Frazier, Tony Tubbs, Pinklon Thomas, Bonecrusher Smith among others. Definitely recommended to any big Tyson fan.

Its hard to tell, they both didn't finish when it seemed like they should/could have. Also credit it due to both Pavlik and Peter for having huge hearts. Its hard to tell who was more hurt, because they both looked VERY close to being stopped. I'd say that since Peter was down 3 times as opposed to 1, that McCline did a worse job of finishing. Pavlik was very hurt as well, and Taylor was throwing tons of wild shots and punched himself out. He almost had Pavlik down a 2nd time when he hit him on the back of the head and Pavlik did the Zab Judah chicken dance acorss the ring (haha). Pavlik showed huge heart, and was punching back at Taylor by the end of the round. It seemed like McCline totally gassed himself out though, as he basically stopped throwing punches after the knock downs.

What a fight, holy shit. Pavlik showed the heart of a champion tonight. In the second round all I could think of is this is just like Calzaghe vs Manfredo, young hot shot gets a chance at the title and gets slaughtered. Taylor I think shocked Pavlik, as he was the agressor early on. He started the fight landing that overhand right, which was like a statement, "I wasn't kidding when i said I came here to fight." I thought Pavlik was done, he had no legs under him, I am shocked he didn't go down a second time. I knew if Pavlik could recover he might be able to win some rounds, but I couldn't belive the way he set up Taylor in the 7th. It reminded me of the Zertuche fight, sets him up with the jabs and BANG, huge overhand right. I gotta give Taylor credit, Manny trained him great for this fight and he was in top form. This version of Taylor I think would have dominated any other middle weight, but Pavlik is a Beast. Fight of the year.

I was wondering if anyone is going, or has been to fight at this venue in Atlantic City called Boardwalk Hall I believe. I am thinking of making the trip down there with my brother, however I can only afford the $50 dollar tickets and would be sitting in the top row. Has anyone been to this place, and if so, were you sitting high up and could you see? I am wondering if it will be worth it because I have never been to a fight live before and really want to see this fight. However if they look like two specks fighting I might as well watch it on HBO at home and save the $. Also, has anyone stayed around this are and if so, do you know of any cheap hotel where I won't get mugged? Thanks for the help.

How do you think Wlad matches up against the current champs and how good of a chance do you think he has to unify the belts? I'd say: Wlad vs Iggy: Wlad has a big advantage here. Iggy is solid in every area but not great in any one area. He's basically a smaller Wlad with a weaker jab and less power. I'd saw Wlad would knock him out within 8. Wlad vs Maskaev: Maskaev is closer to Wlad in size. However he's old and doesn't have Wlad's skills. I havn't seen him fight all that much but looking at his losses, I don't think he'd stand much of a chance, Wlad tko within 7. Wlad vs Chagaev: I think "white tyson" has the best chance out of the current champs to beat Wlad. He's pretty quick, powerful and has solid boxing skills and is a good counter puncher. He's also a lefty and we know how Wlad has fared against hard hitting leftys (Corrie Sanders). However I still say that Wlad would win but it would be a close fight. Wlad by UD.

Heres what I've learned: Teddy beats up people at will, not matter how big they are or how many of them there are He dated tons of girls, and had girls fighting over him at the gym, but he tried to be a nice guy and let the one he didnt want off easy He trained numerous fighters (Tyson, LaLonde) and made them stars and they ditched him right before he was about to get paid He taught a paraplegic kid to walk He got Sammy the Bull Gravano to flip to the FBI Teddy Atlas invented eletricity, fused the atom to create the nuclear bomb, and negotiated peace between the Muslims and Isaraelis. Wow, this guy is Chuck Norris, Mother Teresa, and Gandhi all rolled into one. Ha, Yeah this guy has lived a pretty crazy life, I wonder how much is embellished though. Definately recommended tho, highly entertaining.

Who do you think was the biggest waste of talent in boxing. I don't mean a total scrub, but somone who has all the tools/skills to be great but didn't live up to their potential. Some that come to mind for me are: Riddick Bowe: He beats a prime Holyfield and then never fights close to that again. Instead he starts talking trash, gains weight and stops training. His last fight with Golota was embarassing, he was in no shape to be in there like that. Corrie "the golfer" Sanders: A 6'4 power puncher with great agility and hand speed. He just never seemed to have any boxing skill, he'd just stalk his opponent, throw a weak jab and have his left hand cocked trying to land a big shot. He also didn't seem to train hard and came in overweight for Vitali, a fight he might have been able to win otherwise. Mike Tyson: He has all the skills to probably be the best heavyweight of all time. Instead he got cocky, stoped training and started partying like a rock star. He deserted his trainer and boxing skills and became a headhunter who got embarrssed by Holyfield and Lewis (and lesser opponents as well).

This fight was the highlight of my summer. I had been looking foward to it since it was annoucned and it far exceed even my high expecatations. I love when the referee Smoger breaks the fighters up in the 2nd round he goes "beautiful, beautiful" shows he's a true boxing fan. Even thought Pavlik dominated the later rounds, Miranda still hit him with some huge shots early and mid rounds. Both these guys have great chins, and I cannot wait to see Pavlik fight (and hopefully destroy) Taylor. I highly doubt there will be another fight that can top this one this year, and I can safely say that this is my FOTY. Btw, I have HBO on demand and I've probably watched this fight close to 10 times, never gets old

In your opinion how much does boxing technique help in street fights, especially going up against a taller, heavier opponent. I realize since obviously there are no gloves in a street fight that it is a different ball game and harder to protect yourself. Also I would like to hear stories of fights (what punches thrown, how did non-boxer opponent react, outcome etc) from anyone who trains for boxing.

I'd go with: "Born to Run" - Bruce Springsteen, "Runnin' on Empty" - Jackson Brown, "Run It" - Chris Brown, " Run Around" - Blues Traveler, "Run Away" - Real McCoy, "Run to the Hills" - Iron Maiden, "Runaway" - Bon Jovi any other suggestions? haha, just playin PBF, I'm not a hater, but I do wish he would let his fists go more. I think he looked bulked up and strong in the DLH fight and he would have had a shot at a KO if he stood in there and exchanged some more.
