Who do you think was the biggest waste of talent in boxing. I don't mean a total scrub, but somone who has all the tools/skills to be great but didn't live up to their potential. Some that come to mind for me are:
Riddick Bowe: He beats a prime Holyfield and then never fights close to that again. Instead he starts talking trash, gains weight and stops training. His last fight with Golota was embarassing, he was in no shape to be in there like that.
Corrie "the golfer" Sanders: A 6'4 power puncher with great agility and hand speed. He just never seemed to have any boxing skill, he'd just stalk his opponent, throw a weak jab and have his left hand cocked trying to land a big shot. He also didn't seem to train hard and came in overweight for Vitali, a fight he might have been able to win otherwise.
Mike Tyson: He has all the skills to probably be the best heavyweight of all time. Instead he got cocky, stoped training and started partying like a rock star. He deserted his trainer and boxing skills and became a headhunter who got embarrssed by Holyfield and Lewis (and lesser opponents as well).
eventhough we havent seen much of him.. I think Ahmed Kaddour kinda fits into this category. He doesnt keep mental focus, and doesnt prepare well enough so lacks stamina.. But I think has many great tools that make a great fighter..
Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit there's factual evidence to prove Naseem was way more skilled at an early age than Barrera and Morales were.
I saw factual proof that Barrera whooped Hamed's ass in the ring. Fuck what you talking about Hamed being more skilled at a earlier age. What does that shit have to do with what happened in the ring?
Hamed (Even if he only lost once, he let it get to him, and he wasted away).. Zab Judah.. Mike Tyson.. Sanders.. Meldrick Taylor.. To a certain degree.
Tony ayala, got busted for raping his girlfriend i think after he won about 20 in a row by k.o, never won a title but he was tipped for big things b4 he went away.
Herol Graham as well, great fighter but never quite got there.
NOt sure why no one has mentioned gerald McClellan, mucho talented, shame about what happened to him
James Toney - fat bastard, ballooing up to 200 when he was a MW. He had it all, but was undiscipined, he was one step away from being the Duran of the 90-00s
Zab Judah - speed, power, skills, the mindset of a 16 year old spoiled pothead
Mike Tyson - no comment
Riddick Bowe - one of the weakest characters in the history of boxing, credit to Eddie Futch for pushing him where he pushed him.
Meldrick Taylor, David Reid - Philly heart at the wrong time
Zab Judah- incompetent, does the bare minimum when he trains, still maturing as a fighter. He can still be tamed by a better trainer/manager. I believe Yoel Judah is a horrible Trainer/Manager and Emanuel Steward or someone like Dan Birmingham would be much better for him. Maybe even Micky Ward lol
ever: andrew golota. guy coulda been undisputed champion.
now: jermain taylor. so much talent and he's yet to show it. the guy's turning 29 in august. that talent wont be there forever.
Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit there's factual evidence to prove Naseem was way more skilled at an early age than Barrera and Morales were.
Aren't you the same individual who stated that Naseem was better than Ali?
I forgot to mention one guy:
James Toney: One of my favorite fighters but if he had the work ethic of Bernard Hopkins or PBF he could've fought his early career at 154lbs. Then moved up and dominated MW-and SMW for decades. The fact that he was still succesful at LHW, Cruiser and HW just shows how much talent he had.
Imagine if he would've stood in shape and at lower weight. How long would he have been king of the hill and transformed himself from a Great fighter which he is to an ATG fighter which he could have easily been.
and this bring's tears to my eyes.:puppy_dog
zab judah only wins when their's no pressure, and comes out impressive because it's just that; no pressure, no skill, no talent he's facing. dude NEVERR won any of his major fights so what's up with this persona of untouchable skill he seems to potray?
.....mmmmmm....alll you guys who said Zab are wrong, i think having all his 5 losses coming from the same reason proves that what we see is his limit, he cant fight more than 4 rounds and never could......(only the spinks fights.....)
I'd have to say Mike Tyson, David Reid, Bowe, Bruce Seldon (Decent Athletic ability), and Frank Bruno, who looked strong as an ox, but lacked killer instinct and folded under pressure.
Naz was more accomplished in the UK.
Michael Grant looked promising.:boxing:
