Pavlik/Miranda = FOTY

If there were no low blows to slow the action Cotto-Judah could be FOTY.

In Bell and Mormeck II the fighters were a lot more competetiv and the fight was really close, but Mormeck ran to much after the 7th. And Miranda vs pavlik had as many punches but lesser rounds. I liked it so much when Miranda got his ass whopped, I watched the fight again after it ended. My vote goes for Pavlik Miranda

One that I just remembered that really hasn't gotten the recognition is Earl/Katsidis which was earlier this year I think (correct me if im wrong), but both men went down in that fight. yeah i havent seen the mormeck bell but i preferred the katsidis earl stoush over pavlik miranda. maybe because katsidis is my favourite fighter but because it was an all out war.. earl down a couple of times early and then katsidis touched down as well. bit one sided but a real battle.

This fight was the highlight of my summer. I had been looking foward to it since it was annoucned and it far exceed even my high expecatations. I love when the referee Smoger breaks the fighters up in the 2nd round he goes "beautiful, beautiful" shows he's a true boxing fan. Even thought Pavlik dominated the later rounds, Miranda still hit him with some huge shots early and mid rounds. Both these guys have great chins, and I cannot wait to see Pavlik fight (and hopefully destroy) Taylor. I highly doubt there will be another fight that can top this one this year, and I can safely say that this is my FOTY. Btw, I have HBO on demand and I've probably watched this fight close to 10 times, never gets old that won't happen, Taylor will just jab, jab, straight, backpeddle and box his way to a decision. That's what Emanuel Steward has taught him. I know you guys have noticed that. B4 he fought Hopkins that man was a beast.

Bell - mormeck 2, but either one is good..................

Btw, I have HBO on demand and I've probably watched this fight close to 10 times, never gets old I agree,i was in my bed going crazy,i did not take my eye of the screen,it was such a brutal fight because they hit so hard,that made it even more breath taking,its between Pavlik-Miranda or Cotto-Judah,these two where the best fights ive seen live,Cotto-Judah had the better atmosphere and drama Theres no way Bell-Mormeck is,the first 8 rounds where sick as fuck,but after that Mormeck got tired and just ran,he went in to survival mode,a FOTY to me is a fight which dont stop,they fight to the end,Mormeck didnt do that,he gased out

This could change too with Saturday night's fights, and next fall's fights.

I cant make up my mind on this. I can see why Run says Mormeck/Bell. The atmosphere was pretty crazy with Mormeck being in France, and the action through seven was better than anything this year bar none. Bell was putting on a show with his facial expressions, and a hilarious over reaction to a low blow where he rolled all over the mat. He even kissed Mormeck on the head. It was just a crazy fight. Then at the end of the 8th round Mormeck started running for his life and it almost ruined the fight. I remember it had open scoring too, which I hate. Pavlik/Miranda was crazy. It helps that I was high and watching it on a huge HD TV for the first time though. Anyways, they didn't have any breaks of action in that fight. It was nonstop, and they were exchanging bombs. Combine that with the highlight reel knockout, and you have a great fight. I've never looked forward to a fight like I did the Cotto fight. Not only did the fight exceed my expectations, but the atmosphere was insane. It was another fight with nonstop action, and the drama with Cotto being stunned and the low blows adds to the event. Then Judah taking a beating, and showing more heart than anyone expected. It was a great event, and it was just as good the second and third time. I'm a Cotto fan though so I'm bias obviously, but it was a great fight. One of those three was fight of the year so far. The Barrera/JMM, RMM/Vasquez, Huerta/Kid Diamond, and Kelvin Davis fights were all really good too...

I have to agree with who ever said Marquez Vasquez. Small guys dont get enough credit. These guys were trading bombs till the end. Pavlik dominated Miranda and Mormec ran the last couple of rounds.

If you haven't seen Mormeck/Bell II, I would recommend seeing their first fight as well. It makes the second one even better.

How can anyone consider Cotto/Judah FOTY? FOTYs are not one sided beatings. They have to have sustained two way action. Pavlik/Miranda had some great moments in the early rounds especially the 2nd round which had them trading huge punches off the rope for most of the round. But I've seen Mormeck/Bell II and that is the current FOTY candidate although it had Mormeck running a bit at the end. But Marquez/Vasquez II will be FOTY in my opinion the first one was great while it lasted and the rematch should be even better.

Both fights were good, but i prefer the Miranda-Pavlik fight. The Bell-Mormeck fight was great through about five rounds, then the each became so exhausted (rightfully so),that they could not sustain the action. Bell was reduced to leaning on the ropes and mormeck would land a quick combo, then turn and run. This lasted the last third of the fight. I like the Pavlik-Miranda fight because it started fast and ended with a bang. The Bell fight started fast, then fizzled out, in my opinion.

Cotto/Judah was good, but after the first couple rounds or so it wasn't really close. Judah barely even throw a punch the last couple rounds. I haven't seen Mormeck/Bell II yet but I will def check it out, still I doubt it could top Miranda/Pavlik in my book. I think it was also a factor that so many people were picking Miranda to kill Pavlik that when Pavlik not only was game, but that he was backing Miranda up and nailing him from the opening bell that made this fight so shocking and thrilling. What someone else considers FOTY is a subjective decision. However, I do now plan on watching that fight and if I then choose it as FOTY over Miranda/Pavlik I will say so. I think its ignorant about how SURE you are that your FOTY has to automatically be everyone else's. I could very well like Mormeck/Bell II better than Pavlik/Miranda, but I said considering how much I liked that fight I was simply saying that I didn' think I could enjoy another fight more than that one. I'm not saying Ring Magazine has to automatically crown Miranda/Pavlik FOTY, I think you misunderstood my point. I just can't see the logic. I realize most people watch solely HBO and aren't exposed to fights on other channels.......and don't really take an active interest in watching anything that isn't on Home Box Office.......but I can't see how the fight in discussion is the FOTY, it's puzzling. Sure it was an exciting slugfest that lasted 7 rounds, but Bell and Mormeck were slugging it out the entire way and coupled with Bell's theatrics it made the fight highly entertaining. Like I said this is just a matter of some people not being in the know. People question.......Did you see Bell/Mormeck II? Because it's hard for me to believe you did and at the same time think Pavlik/Miranda was better. I forgot about Bell's theatric's yeah that does make that fight even better. Didn't he get lowblowed and do some funny stuff as well did some shit when Mormeck was running in the late rounds?
