Oscar was done when he couldnt even knockout Steve Forbes, no wonder Roach was brilliant that he knew Pac is gonna beat him. Mayweather perhaps thinks a rematch with DLH will produced the same results.
Not really, but I wanna see Hopkins gets knockout, its never been done before. B-Hop doesnt really need to fight washed up Roy, and losing to Jones now would tarnish everything he has accomplished in the past.
Didnt Cotto said Mayweather keeps reasoning out that he wasnt that marketable nor a big name even though he keeps winning, and they cant fight a guy who really doesnt want to fight him.
Dela Hoya agreed to fight Hopkins at a catch weight of 156lbs, I dont see how he wouldnt fight tito at 160lbs as the trinidads insists, 50/50 is fair enough but DLH just doesnt want to redeem himself. he suffered even worse fighting at 147 and getting beat up by Manny Pacquiao.
Floyd had himself to be blamed for making Pacquiao Great, for one, if he didnt retire and fought Dela Hoya in a rematch, then he would still remain number 1, Pacman had so much desire to fight Ricky Hatton, but not DLH, Pacquiao never expect to fight DLH, it was only after Pretty Boy says I quit for a while that this Pacman phenomenon soon rise at its highest level.
Besides common opponents, Dela Hoya, Hatton, Mosley and Marquez, I've also think of their foes that fought each other, with one had floyd in his resume, the other with manny.
Mayweather - Zab Judah
Pacquiao - Miguel Cotto
Cotto beats Judah, so plus 1 for Pacman
Mayweather - Carlos Baldomir
Pacquiao - Joshua Clottey
Baldomir beats Clottey by DQ, even here
At 130-135, two best opponents of Mayweather are rivals Castillo and Corrales, while Pacquiao had same rivals Barrera and Morales at 126-130lbs. again the odds are even.
Floyd had beaten Morales' victims Carlos Hernandez and Jesus Chavez while Pac had other notable names like Larios and David Diaz.
Mayweather doesnt have an opponent yet that could equal Pac's win over Margarito last year, that someone should be Sergio Martinez, whom Margarito beat but isnt likely to get a shot at Floyd.
Pacquiao could have undefeated Bradley next in line, who is definitely better than Ortiz.
This was so huge in 2008, but Mayweather opted to retire, Cotto beat a better version of Mosley than Floyd did, and we all know Margarito cheated that led to Cotto's first loss.
Mayweather should win but we would really be in for a competitive fight.
Had Pacquiao look bad against Margarito, Mayweather would have been brave to call him right now, but Pacman remains scarier than ever for Floyd to continue to hide.
Pacman knows how close his 2 fights were with Marquez, if he wins, no doubt dinamita is the obvious choice, but a Pacquiao coming off a loss may not be confident to face JMM next.
A Cotto fight would be a confidence builder for Mayweather, isnt it I've been reading stories about him and Cotto planning to work together, maybe Floyd should considered a fight, Miguel wants it.
I like the ending of both, spectacular knockouts, but I'll go with Trinidad vs Vargas as more exciting because Fernando is undefeated, and as rounds go by, I keep watching Tito-Vargas, knockdowns occured, low blows, deducted points, Hoya-Vargas produced the same pattern in the middle rounds, only in the 10th when Oscar nailed Vargas in the last few seconds rocked ferocious.
Speaking of Berto, the last two who beat him, Karass and Guerrero, along with another Berto opponent, Luis Collazo, all in their early 30s (and all with only 18 KOs) in still in contention in the welterweight division, also had a not-so-impressive Knockout ratio.
Do we miss Berto and Victor Ortiz, LOL.
