hatton never beat tszyu fairly . he held and hit for all the fight
and had the ref's help as well. that was a joke of a fight
all pac has to be worried about is hatton's hugging
God this place makes me laugh with the ridiculous myth's.....
The fight was a messy brawl - instigated by BOTH fighters. Tszyu did plenty of fouling himself including hitting after the break, lowblows and other roughhouse tactics. What Ref help are you refering to????
Shaefer going to work for Mayweather Promotions? lol Yeah right
Listen as somebody else said, Shaefer isnt going anywhere - Oscar is a drug addict and probably a depressive type with all his cross dressing tendences etc who will be up and down & unfortunatley and in and out of rehab. Every now and again Oscar will pipe up and make some noise as he is now but Richard knows how to control him...and Oscar knows who is running the business..this will all blow over pretty soon IMO.
Sorry if it's already been posted.
That's got to be one of the saddest sports related things I've ever seen
All involved should be ashamed of themselves including the punk that beat up Riddick
The Khans will make sure GBP sanction the fight before they leave the states to come home after watching the fight. I bet Broner and Garcia watching ringside would fight Devon tomorrow- both would beat him.
Oh dear.....Katsidis and especially his team need to start looking out for his health - this man has taken some serious beatings even in victory.
Khan would obliterate him simples.
Perhaps I'll sound abit like im bitchin but in my opinion this fight is a disgrace to boxing. Jones was knocked out cold by Danny freaking Green (a man who was stood on his head by Mundine) and is totally shot to pieces - he has almost no chance of winning this fight.
Thankfully Hopkins probably won't really put it on him as I'm reallly worried about Roy's health - he's aready sounding punchy to me.
To charge PPV is also outrageous - for one of the few times as a british viewer im not annoyed about missing out on a US card as it's not being shown over here.
Certain people will dismiss this with the usuall Hatton hate but in the first 6 rounds or so Hatton was able to pop Floyd pretty consistantly with his left jab - he even snapped his head back quick violently on a few occassions.
It was the same thing to a lesser extent with Oscar, I think with Ricky's height it was kind of an up - jab and Floyd definatley had trouble picking the shot due to his stance. Unfortunatley for Ricky he wasnt able to do much damage when he did land the shot and get Floyd off balance due to a combination of the following: Floyd's underated strength/His illegal but smart use of his forearms and Joe Cortez breaking up the action to quickly when Ricky was trying to work on the inside etc.
This would not have gone un-noticed by Roach. If Freddie can get Manny to pop his jab in an ffective, consistant manner then do what he does best with his inside work he might, just might be able to do enough damage to Floyd to get the job done on points.
The thread starter is a wanker.
Castillo was No 9 in the ring rankings. Admittedly he wasn't prime, and had a debatable win against Ngodjo the fight before but he was still Top 10.
Before the fight Many posters/experts on all the various websites had tipped Castillo to bust Ricky up.
If you want to shit on Ricky concerntrate on his last fight - you will get no argument from me, and im sure many others, but don't try to change history and downgrade the guy's achievements to suit you're agenda.
I think that he should continue but just not at the massive fights, just ones that keep him in Manchester and earning some pocket money, I don't think that he should retire, maybe he is taking his time reading all this sort of stuff that his fans are saying then will make his decision.
I don't think that he will retire either to be honest, he still has alot to give, just because he lost twice and i keep saying both of them times it was against the number one p4p. So really he doesn't need to retire just because he lost to the best!
I know what your saying boss - and I two expect him to continue but really what is the point in going back to fighting the level of guy's (Tsyzu the exception) as he was before the US adventure?
Hatton now transcends boxing, and public demand will mean it would be impossible anyway to fight those type of guy's for more then one fight. As I just mentioned, HBO/GBP/Team Hatton are all right about know trying to put together a plan to get him back on the World stage asap as the guy will still bring money to the table.
It's time to move on while you've got you're braincells Hitman.
Ricky should retire.
He has a hole new chapter of his life to concerntrate on; a brand new leisure centre/boxing gym he's just opened,a new promotional company, a nice lady who's waiting patiently to tie the knot and make babies, enough money to secure his grandkids future - why continue?
I fear they will try to re-package him again like thy did after he lost to Floyd.
First it will be a bum in Manchester late this year, then a belt holder in May 2010 then if he wins that a big vegas fight.
i still dont get how the fuk urango's been making 140. dude looks like an mma fighter, not a boxer...
watch him turn into an oversized heavybag for berto though...andre's wayyy too quick for the colombian
He's got Matchstick legs that's the reason he made 140.
If the fight is held at 147 Cotto will put a bad beating on Pacman - anything less then say 145 then Cotto will be so badly drained that it will become a toss up.
Damn, you yanks are really not feeling Berto. Being british we didnt get the fight last night.....but I've always enjoyed watching Andre and consider him to be a legit force to be reckoned with. Alot of people seem to be underplaying what Urango bring's to the table. That man although quite slow is immensely strong and if he hit's you....
I love Ricky (no homo) but at this point Cotto would waste him within 6. When they were both at 140lb I think Ricky would have been far to much for Miquel and either stops him late or wins a decision.
No, no and no. It should never, and would never happen - no point stating the 100 reasons why it wont.
Ricky will be back, there is little doubt (hes already doin abit of work in his gym, don't be fooled by his fat face I heard his body is in a fair shape).
As unlikely as it might seem, I wouldnt be totally surprised if Mayweather Snr is re-hired, but as somebody else said it will probably be Lee Beard.
My heart sank when I saw the weigh in. Call me dumb but he looked almost unsteady on his feet - watch him step onto the scales. The word was tht he really struggled to make weight last time around and had to have a fall workout before just before the weigh-in which he's never had to do before. As for the pic although he's leaning back and its taken at an angle he looked the worst I've ever seen him.
Its a terrible shame that the young, prime, bull strong Hatton wasnt unleashed on the States earlier.
To be fair I think 95% percent of the forum had exactly the same prediction as Roach - it was hardly rocket science to work out how the fight was going to go down.
When has anyone legitimately claimed that Hatton was multi-faceted? He has a come forward (with hands down) type of style. He made that mistake against Floyd, and he made it against Pacman. When has Hatton ever boxed effectively while retreating? When has anyone seen Hatton use a fukin jab effectively? When has anyone seen Hatton effectively counter punch?
Go and watch his fights in his prime before he set off to america - you'll find most of the more significant ones on youtube- the Ben Tackie fight is a good one.
Ricky said recently that he new that he had ''left his best work in the gym'' which is why he fought in the manner that he did and I beleive him to a certain extent. I was hearing rumours from Vegas 2 weeks before the fight that he was been handled by his sparring partners...
Fight night; The minute I heard british TV report that Floyd Snr was late into the dressing room and only turned up when Ricky was having his hands rapped I new he was in big trouble. I then see him opt to come out to the ring first, even though as the Champ he should have come out 2nd and I scratched my head. I then for the first time (and I have followed Ricky's entire career, and he has always cut an intimidating and commanding figure) look nervous and not look Pac in the eye for the instructions and I new he was finished.
Now to the fight, Ricky showed little to no regard for Pac's power. He ran in with his hands by his waiste with no head movement, by doing this he added to Pacs power. Ricky was of the opinion that he could bullrush ''little'' Manny and take him out early along the ropes - big mistake. Ricky's chin is far from what it was, but I dont believe that it's completley finnished.
He was also completley unprepared to face a southpaw, which is evidenced as Mayweather Snr REFUSED to do southpaw pads in training for whatever reason.
I still stand by my opinion before and after the fight. Prime Hatton would have destroyed Manny at 140lb. He's still a good fighter, but Ricky at his best was a beast. He has lost his youthfull vibrancy, he cant punch straight anymore with his left hand (due to a problem with his arm), and he isnt as strong as he was back in the day. Call me stupid, but with the few shots he landed on Pac shook him - I just wish the fight went a few more rounds as although Pac cleaned his clock I still have some questions that I wanted to see answered - perhaps Cotto will actually ask them.
Having said all that, i'm not trying to take away from Manny's tremendous performance. How he brought his strength and punch all the way up god only knows - he is a monster.
Only reason Floyd and Pacquiao fought him is because he brought a huge England audience. He's always sucked, he did horrible in 147.
He beat Collazo for the WBA and according to Floyd gave im his toughest ever fight for 6 rounds in his other fight at 147 - its not his best weight but that aint horrible.
No, I couldnt disagree more....PBF has advantages in height, reach and has a far thicker build - in terms of size difference this will look like a mini Lewis - Tyson.
