Garcia should not take this fight. He should step his foot down and ask for bigger fights.
He comes in to fight Khan as a replacement for Peterson, as the underdog, and knocks Khan out in 4 rounds.
Boxing fans acted very immature with the accusations about him being afraid of Matthysse, and when the fight was signed he was the underdog and many fans predicted ridiculous outcomes like Matthysse in under 6 rounds.
Time to go up to 147 for bigger pay days. He wiped out 140...Khan, Matthysse, Judah. There's nobody there anymore. Peterson needs to rebuild, Alvarado and Provodnikov are in TR. You got 147 Guerrero, Broner-Maidana winner, Alexander, Thurman, Lopez.
This right here ^
Nothing more to add.
No need to hope. The fight gets made, Khan is losing, period.
That's how I feel as well, can't see Khan winning. I'd pick Alexander to beat Khan but even I'll admit Khan's chances would have been better with Alexander.
what? did you see the fight last night? provo landed a lot of left hooks on Alvarado...more lefts than right if I remember it correctly.
and broner's style...which one? he got fast hands i'll give you that but he got no footwork to handle a pressure fighters especially someone who can take his power.
I see people are lacking reading comprehension, I did see that, he would side step and throw a short left hook on Alvarado but Alvarado doesn't have a Broner-like defense. It's the right hand over the top that I'm specifically worried about, that's what I said and that's what I'm saying. Never said Provodnikov didn't have it, I'm saying I see Broner neutralizing the left hook.
Marquez is not a better puncher than Rios, Marquez is more lethal because of his timing, precision and countering punching. I doubt Rios will be able to hit Pacquiao with punches he doesn't see, I don't see it happening often enough to be effective. That said, I like Brandon and I still think people underrate him. His ability to fight inside is up there, his only issue is that he doesn't have the foot speed to get inside. Still I like this fight, should be fun while it lasts. Rios is a difficult fighter to stop he genuinely likes to face adversity.
All prov has is the right hand? Did you see him take an angle and whack alvarado with a left hook repeatedly? And prov's body attack is vicious. Standing infront of him flatfooted would be suicide.
I didn't say that, I said all he would have to worry about is the right hand over the top, Broner can take away his left hook and Provodnikov doesn't work uppercuts up close the way Rios does. I see Broner handling himself very well on the inside.
No it wouldn't.
All Broner would have to worry about is Provodenikov's right hand that he throws over the top, if Broner can neutralize that he wins quite easily. Stylistically this match up favors Broner.
The reason i ask is because i was "traumatized" by my father.
I was a wrestler in middle school and the family went out to dinner and I said i was just going to have soup because i was trying to get to a lower weight class and my dad said "Oh isn't that cute your not going to eat because you want to beat up smaller boys"
So all thru my am boxing and wrestling I NEVER cut weight so I have a little more respect for fighters who fight in their natural weight class.
Your dad has a point, it's common though and some take it to extreme measures like Angulo entering the ring at 173 against Lara.
:lol1:
It's a fight that has to happen but snoozer chance is high.
The bold, that's all that needs to be said. It may be boring but it's got to happen. I'm picking Lara in this one, offensively he's just better.
I rewatched the Cotto fight and can see that Mayweather struggles more with a guy who cuts off the ring and puts the pressure on him. This was how both De La Hoya and Cotto had success. At the same time - neither of them are know to be effective pressure fighters.
The only other closest thing would've been Ricky Hatton, but he's a mauler, more than a high-output fighter.
This is why Floyd has been given heat for fighting these three fighters: Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams, and Manny Pacquiao. They all have one thing in common - high punch output and pressure.
Everyone Floyd has fought that I can remember have been boxer-punchers or boxers. There hasn't been someone who tried to go to war with him since Cotto and De La Hoya - the same two who have seen the most success against Mayweather.
Feel free to point my observation wrong.
Paul Williams is made to be ineffective when one provides movement, he doesn't have the footwork or foot speed of a Miguel Cotto. Cintron before quitting actually had a lot of success controlling distance and countering. It's not difficult to make Williams have to reset. Margarito would have been somewhat of a problem in that he is willing to put himself out there to land, but Floyd would strictly box and likely stink up the joint (I have to admit) to win it. Same goes for Manny, he was made to look one dimensional when Cotto provided movement in the second half, or even watch the Mosley fight as well. Pacquiao may have shown improvement against your typical come forward style but he hasn't changed when confronted with movers.
I'm not saying Floyd is unbeatable because he isn't but ideally you would need someone like a Roberto Duran, a well trained Duran. Someone who defends well coming in so it isn't easy to score on him, and is also beastly in the pocket. Pretty much, you would need a great pressure fighter and currently there isn't one.
Timmy was unimpressive last night. If he were to face THE GHOST, I personally believe he would get stopped or take a big beating. He would not be able to use his footspeed because of the lack or power and on the inside he would be abosolutely mauled by the bigger, stronger, taller, Guerrero.
Timmy gets mangled Up by the GHOST.
I see Bradley picking his spots very well, boxing him and also getting the better of Guerrero in close. I don't see him staying on the inside long enough for Guerrero to get off.
Bradley vs Mayweather will be a posing contest, remember Bradley vs. Alexander?
That was Alexander's fault for excessively clinching and wanting no part of Bradley on the inside. I could see Floyd approaching Bradley in the same manner he did Mosley.
Floyd fought the better version, but the best version of Marquez at 147 was the one that out boxed Pacquiao in the 3rd fight. As much as I like Bradley, and you guys know I'm a big fan of his...I don't think he would have beaten that Marquez.
Bradley is a very versatile fighter. Guerrero has shown some versatility, fighting his mauling style against Berto and a solid outside boxing style against Katsidis... but let me ask you, who has Guerrero beaten that matches the skill level of Devon Alexander, or even Lamont Peterson? Let alone Juan Manuel Marquez?
Guerrero at 147 doesn't have the same boxing ability he did at LW, just not the same really.
Marquez looked the same last night like he fought floyd. Only thing JMM was able to land a few shots on bradley whereas on FMW he barely touched him
No, Marquez had noticeably faster hands against Mayweather and his foot speed was considerably faster as well. He may have been stronger, more adjust to the division but his decline in hand and foot speed is what hurt him against Bradley the most, nothing else.
I don't see Bradley ever fighting out of character again, I think Bradley can make Floyd miss more than we're used to, I see Mayweather attempting to walk him down as a result of that. Would be a very interesting style clash, Bradley is an opponent who is also versatile and can adjust. If Bradley does find himself behind on the cards by a wide margin it's gonna get crazy in there, Bradley will do his all to win.
Bradley is the fuckin' man, that's all I gotta say. He fought to the best of his abilities against a dangerous counter puncher. Boxing is all about recognizing who's in front of you, I hope the Bradley that fought Provodnikov never shows himself again. The Bradley that fought tonight is the Bradley I became a fan of. The way he countered to the body was beautiful. Also, yes he's definitely a HOF, damn good resume and it's only gonna get better.
Roy Jones was sucking Bradleys balls on hbo
There were times when Marquez landed, and Jim didn't acknowledge that Bradley was countering him as well, Roy did a great job.
