yes, that's an issue.
the muscles and bones of the face are what we look at all day. university studies have been done that show an almost perfect ability of human beings to evaluate strength based on a person's appearance from the neck up.
a durable face is going to look durable to you. seeing that and recognizing it is natural.
pronounced ridges of the eyes, a sturdily boned jaw, and plenty of muscle in the cheeks and around the jaw all are signs of a strong man, and a strong man is much more likely to be durable.
almost all of your favorite boxers are gifted athletes, and their faces will have muscles, bones, and proportions appropriate to that level of athleticism.
obviously there are acceptions, but for the most part a flag will go up if i see a pro boxer who doesn't have a jaw and face that appears durable.
additionally, certain types of faces are more likely to swell and cut around the eyes. the diet, weight loss and gain, and obviously a history of cuts have an effect on this as well. bam bam rios hardly ever swells, yet he takes punishment constantly. arturo gatti would swell up if you looked at him the wrong way.
Interesting. I've read articles on how people assume qualities based on looks, but it was more about trustworthiness, wisdom, etc. Do you have a source for this about durability?
I'll try my best. " PACQUIAO BEATS MARQUEZ FOR A 4TH TIME ! HOPEFULLY FLOYDIE COMES OUT OF HIDING NOW. HE WON'T BECAUSE HE'S TOO SCARED. HE WILL PROBABLY GET LOCKED UP AGAIN SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO FACE THE TRUE P4P KING ! " ... Did I get it ?The point was to give JMM his due respect, but if that's how you want to take it then that's good too.
That punch was not luck Marquez was landing that right hand through out the fight. Once he knocked Pac down in the 3rd round. He had confidence throwing that right hand knowing he can hurt Manny which he did.Of course. JMM landed it throughout all four fights. And Pac never learned to stop doing that lazy jab, jab, big lunging left. JMM knew it all along which is why he was so confident he could knock Pac out. And he did.
It would have been fight of the year, knock out of the year, Pac would have been fighter of the year, and Roach trainer of the year.
But JMM wins and all of a sudden it's not worthy of those honors due to JMM's strength coach, Which happens to be Pac's strength coach's professor, being "suspect.":nonono:This. ......
You know PAC fought Marquez first right, now depending on wether you have Marquez beating PAC ( I thought PAC won the first two) it's still a win. But like I said you can never satisfy boxing fans. They'll always be **** takers.Yes but if Pac had KOed him it would have been Pac's first convincing win over JMM in the eyes of many, including May. So May would have had the convincing win first. Note that May has also said JMM won the first three fights. You're really taking this to heart though, don't forget this thread is not reality and meant for fun.
Well:
Pacquiao fans wouldn't want a 5th match, even though Marquez was winning
Pacquiao would have beaten a PED marquez by tremendous KO
Pacquiao would become fighter of the year/decade(2010-2019)
Freddie Roach being 1-6(?) would become trainer of the year
There would be no extra testing talks by Bob
And I don't think there would be a Marquez KO pic thread
I'm not so sure about that last line. I think the Pac KO pic stuff is just backlash for some of the nonsense many Pac fans have been spewing over the years. I think there would be similar backlash for JMM because he has always said he beat Pacquiao every time. Pac would have finally shut him up with a KO, and I'm pretty sure some fan pics would have followed.
Man it would be horrible, all the internet flooded with pactarts trashing mexicans, hbo licking pac´s ass for the eternity, general media´s pac disease would be incurable at this point. But god exists I guess.Exactly. And absolutely no one would be talking luck because of Pac's reputation. It must really be hard for some Pac fans to accept to insist it was a lucky punch. Even Pac himself said it at one point. I don't know if he's still saying it now.
I was in shock to be honest with you. I didn't jump up and down (even though I'm a huge Marquez fan and was rooting for him).
I just sat there like "WTF did I just see". When I saw that Pac was waved off, I was just amazed and was waiting to see the replay because from the original angle, you couldn't really see the shot clearly.Same here. I got excited over the KD in rd 3, but I was shocked over the KO more than anything. And several others I watched it with wanted to see the replay saying, "what the hell just happened?"
You're playing dumb. Floyds name is in every canelo thread, Martinez thread, bradley, freddie Roach, de La Hoya, fantasy fight, when you think you're going to to jump in a thread and discus boxing with fellow fans- BOOM- "floyd,we hate floyd. What? Boxing? Eerrr, but floyd
But back to subject JMM is a way over the hill fighter so if manny won that is what exactly what should have happened. People are so excited that manny lost, not because they are floyd fans, but because manny got knocked out cold by a bum.You lost all credibility right here. No further discussion from you is necessary.
I think its the other way around. I could careless about criticism. But like I said why would Floyd say that if PAC kos Marquez, When Marquez fought PAC first. Would ost matter? Angel Heredia himself said he supplied Olympic athletes with undected peds. I don't wanna go to deep into that because it would require intensive typing. Do your own research. I understand the hard work and dedication that boxers have to endure during training and I'm not implying that Marquez was on peds but let me say this again if associate yourself with a famous peds supplier who supplied peds to Olympic gold medalist, expect to be accused. As long as Marquez works with Heredia there will alway be a stigma surrounding him. I'm done you win.If you go back to the "leftover" post, I implied Floyd might say that to discredit Pacquiao's win over JMM (as he did Pac's win over Hatton) to justify his refusal to fight Pac. Yes Pac fought Marquez first but I already explained how Floyd would reason he beat JMM "before" Pacquiao (since he thinks JMM won fights 1-3. Do your own research.) Edit: Don't forget the premise is what Floyd might say (in a fictional parallel universe) and that we're using Floyd logic here. Look, I even did a little research for you: http://www.boxingscene.com/mayweather-i-beat-them-pacquiao-takes-my-leftovers--43521 . Note how much importance Floyd gives to beating fighters first. You get it now?
"... if associate yourself with a famous peds supplier who supplied peds to Olympic gold medalist, expect to be accused."
If Marquez is suspect by association to Heredia, then so is Alex Ariza because Ariza says he and Heredia are friends.

What leftovers you talking about? How long have you been watching boxing bro?
Different topic but PAC don't need to ride off Floyd's fame. Pac became an icon after beating delahoya , He's famous all over the world. The fight could've been made long ago without Floyd's fake Olympic testing demands, but lets not turn this into a Floyd PAC thread. My badTake it easy and pay attention to what you read. I said Floyd would be the one talking about leftovers, because that's what Floyd called Hatton after Pac KOed Hatton in 2. And Floyd is the one who likes to say Pac rides off his fame. You should have picked up on that by now. How long have you been watching boxing? Edit: I referred to Mayweather as "May", so that might have been confusing. I shorten it just like I do with "Pac" for Pacquiao. That shouldn't be hard to figure out though, should it? Especially if you've been watching boxing a while and know what people are referring to.
Marquez fans, PAC haters and some, if not all Mayweather fans would do the same thing period. They'd be Marquez is to old and past it. PAC used peds because no extra testing was involved etc. etc. It's all natural, that's just how fans are when their fighters are defeated. /thread
True, but Pacquiao has had more general media hype since the DLH fight. Also, a Pac KO victory would've been used to challenge Mayweather once again citing a better victory over JMM. And of course, May would probably talk about leftovers and Pac trying to ride his fame while still refusing to fight.
plankiao got layed the fuk out no need to discuss **** that just aint happeninThe point isn't that it will or should've happened, but how much hype Pac would get instead of people calling it luck.
So now that ward is number 2 his name is going to pop up in every thread? Floyd has nothing to do with pac-jmm 4, 5, 10.I agree with this. But come on man, don't play dumb. For a while there Floyd and Pac could've settled it in the ring and some people still choose to speculate. And in this case they have a common opponent in JMM. If you don't like it stop reading.
the bandwagon goes bigger again.... marquez fans would say he's past it. floyd fans would say "finally at the age of 40, he was able to knock that guy".. heredia is doing nothing wrong and JMM is a super clean athlete.. we wouldn't even hear a lucky word..
Haha, I wasn't thinking about this but you're right. Nobody was so critical of Heredia after fight three.
Whaaa! Butthurt? Yeah, it's just for fun, but your dismissing the fact that Floyd didn't weigh at the contracted catchweight of 144 which is an advantage on his side. Btw the steroids accusations against Marquez was way before the 4th fight with PAC was even announced.Smh, you're really dense if you didn't catch that the leftovers comment was a criticism of Floyd. As far as your steroids comment, I invite you to use Team Pacquiao's standard; "let the commission do their job." Btw, Marquez was for OST as long as Pac did it too, and Team Pac didn't accept. What do you think of that?
The ironic things is, JMM IS OLD AND PAST IT. He is and was for their third fight. And PACQUIAO may have been on PEDs why else refuse extra testing AGAIN? Everyone is saying how he looked great again.
On a side note why does mayweathers name come up in every discussion. God, can we talk about boxing without mentioning floyd, or is floyd boxing to you guys.It might have something to do with Pac and Floyd being considered lb for lb #1 and #2 for a while and people wondering who was better.
I know a lot of people bring up Floyd ducking Margarito, but without being biased do you really think Margarito would have won?
There's no way because Floyd beat JMM who beat Pac who beat Margarito. /sarcasm
Based on skills I think Floyd would've won but there's also a psychological aspect here, and it can be said Floyd had some fear of facing prime Marg. What gets me is how sure Floyd fans are that Floyd would've won all these fights that never happened. Anything can happen in sports. Before Saturday no one could say with absolute certainty that Marquez would KO Pac. If you could let me know why you're not rich. If you are rich let me know why the fk you're wasting time on boxingscene.
in floyds last ww fight with Ortiz he was 150 on fight night...factThat still doesn't tell you what Floyd weighed in the ring for the fight with Marquez. Fact. You can speculate all you want on the Marquez fight, but you'll never know for sure because on fight night Floyd refused to step on the scale. Fact. Floyd unprofessionally failed to make the contracted weight for the fight with Marquez, so he had to pay a penalty for the fight to go on. Fact.
Would JMM at that weight have been able to take Hamed's punch? At the time Hamed was P4P one of the hardest punchers in the sport before his hand issuesI'd say yes based on JMM being able to take every opponent's punch to date. Hamed had those weird angles though.
It is not foolish to compare Mayweather to Martinez at 160 or Ward at 168 since Marquez jumped up two weight divisions to fight Mayweather at 147. You can't believe for a second Marquez or Pacquiao have any business at welterweight, those dudes are not welterweights at all. Mayweather has been fighting at 140 or above since 2004. Pacquiao and Marquez were still at 130 in 2008. Come on, man. That fight Mayweather had against Marquez was a joke, and no one gave Marquez any kind of chance in that fight. Everyone knew Mayweather would beat him. Please stop it, though. Don't act like anyone gave Marquez a shot going into that fight. It was a joke fight. Not only that, Floyd apologists pretend he was the same weight as Pacquiao in the ring when he fought Marquez. They must also be pretending to forget Floyd refused to step on HBO's scale the night of the fight.
