I think Bradley would just dominate Paulie, but @ the same time I dont see too many other fighters giving Bradleya real test as is. Khan and Alexander would be very good fights I think. Idk if Malignaggi would win either of these, but I think he would have a chance. I think with Alexander's style, he could give him some problems, Devon is a bigger, faster and more talented version of Diaz. He throws lots of punches, and continues to stalk his foe. He also possess an exceptional jab.One thing I ike about him is he comes in with a gameplan, and always seems to stick to it. He doesnt shy away from contact and fades away from his jab. A lot of young fighters tend to start of using there jab and that fades once they land a few combinations. Devon is seemingly intent on staying to his gameplan. Which is also a complement to his trainer Kevin Cunningham for continuing to keep his fighter focused. WhoI might add I am a HUGEEE fan of.
Khan I jus still dont think is the next Great thing just yet. Ok his destruction of Salita was solid, but Salita to me was an overhyped fighter. Salita looked horendous to me in his fight vs Derrick Campos on the Calzaghe vs Jones undercard in 08. I think Salita is a very limited fighter with a paded record an Khan did exactly what he SHOULD have done. Paulie to me would have a decent shot against Khan. I think he can frustrate Khan by drawing him in and then being no where to be found, only problem is sometimes Paulie heart is bigger then his braids and he tries to stay in the pocket and exchange.
And dont be a fool either and say Khan stop Malignaggi, be serious and stop hugging Khan's balls. When has Paulie ever seriously been hurt? The beating he took against Cotto was extradionary for him to say he went 12 hard rounds fighting the entire time. And Hatton fight was stopped by McGirt and Paulie should have easily been given the benefit and let him finish the fight, if Mcgirt let him fight in the 7th and 8th then y stop i when he did, that was a joke. Khan would NEVER KO this guy soo enough with that foolish talk.....
Absolutely.Paulie uses his mouth to talk a big game and gets himself into these fights. I'm just saying that after beating Juan Diaz, he's looking in the wrong direction. BEating Diaz DOES NOT warrant a fight with JMM. And don't get me wrong of course he wants to get revenge on Hatton. But from a standpoint of getting any of those fights, he needs as better win than that of which he worked hard for by beating Diaz. He fights Khan and beats him, he will have more of a bargaining tool to attempt to land a big fight. He mentioned Devon Alexander as well, beating a young undefeated title holder also gives him a legitimate win, and has ppl talking about bigger fights.
Im just saying that a win over Diaz gives him nothing other than a WIN he needed, now he needs to realize what this win did for him. And it DEF does not warrant a fight with the best 140 has to offer, YET anyway........Do u agree?!?!
I think that Mora is too busy for Forrest at this pointin his career. Although, Forrest is cagey and might be able to hurt Sergio at some point. Forrest is a solid finisher too even at this point!
Calzaghe Wants To Go Out On A High-AP
Joe Calzaghe still expects to retire if he beats Roy Jones in November but has left the door open by admitting: "I'll never forgive myself if I lose my last fight".
The undefeated super-middleweight and light-heavyweight world champion has long maintained he intends to quit with his 100% record intact.
The fight against former pound-for-pound king Jones had been expected to be a farewell bout but Welshman Calzaghe, 36, has left the door slightly ajar.
"At the moment I'm definitely going to retire," he told Setanta Sports News.
"As long as I win and I win in style then it will be my last fight.
"I've achieved everything I can in boxing. I'm 36 years old and I don't want to keep on fighting. I love boxing and I love what the sport has given me, but I want to retire undefeated."
Calzaghe will face Jones at New York's Madison Square Garden on November 8 after their original September date was postponed when the Welshman suffered a wrist injury.
Jones, 39, was regarded as the world's finest fighter until a shock defeat by Antonio Tarver in 2004 prompted a startling fall from grace.
"Roy Jones went through a bit of a tough time in his career but he's come back and had three great wins," said Calzaghe.
"I can't underestimate him. I have to make sure I'm 100%.
"I'll never forgive myself if I lose my last fight having been undefeated for the last 17 years."
Calzaghe, who became an unofficial two-weight world champion by defeating leading light-heavyweight Bernard Hopkins in April, insists preparations are back on track despite the injury.
He said: "Before I injured my hand I was training for two or three weeks so I've only had a little bit of time off.
"Although I've not been punching, I've been jogging to keep my fitness levels up."
"I normally prepare 12 weeks before a fight and I won't start sparring for another six weeks. So I'm ahead of schedule and have plenty of time to get in shape for the fight."
Well he will if he retires after RJJR. Because he will be 45-1!
That's something else I don't agree with, is deducting points when it's an honest accident that the fighter probably couldn't have helped anyway, and I don't care if there have been 5 warnings beforehand. If, say, you're inside, head on your guy's chest, and you throw a hook right when your opponent pushes your head down, and you tickle his testicles with the left you threw, you sure as hell shouldn't even get a warning, and most assuredly not a deduction, but I've seen idiot fucking refs do just that..everybody has.
The sport isn't perfect, never will be (because I'm not king of the world, but if I were, oh, brother would there be some big changes), but I have the right to bitch about any aspect of it I please :D
LOL. No shit remeber how the WBC used to conduct there title fights in the early and mid 90's I believe. Any fighter who was cut during an ACCIDENTAL HEADBUTT, the other fighter was automatically penalized one point because of it. No matter how accidental the headbutt may have been. It happened more specifically in the fight with DLH and Whitaker. In which we had the normal southpaw and orthodox matchup. ( DLH is a southpaw but fights as an orthodox fighter). Whitaker came in to throw while DLH was doing the same. DLH was hit with a butt and had a small nic under his eye. It was automatically a 10-8 round I believe round 3 or 4 Ill have to check. Anywho, Whitaker lost the round plus the point deduction.
They obviously changed this over the years, but even still , that was just some way pf punishing a fighter for an accidental foul Instead of using judgement calls with the Ref, it was an automatic point deduction.
Yeah but when I do it, it's funny. You're just acting out these gay fantasies that you should really be keeping to yourself.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rofl::rofl:
And Harry Greb
Sandy Saddler
Rocky Marciano
Mike Tyson
Mayweather (elbows)
Eusebio Pedroza
Willie Pep (he started it)
Chavez (low blows)
Anyone who doesn't strictly adhere to the Marques of Queensbury rules should be held in eternal contempt for here on.
No, it wouldn't work that way.
LOL. Yeah thats a lil bit of a broad statement. I mean this is there fighting style, u can call someone like B-Hop dirty, but at the same time, he comes in and throws a punch and ducks his head. Not exactly Dirty so to speak. Many fighters throw there head on the inside when they r coming in, it's almost instinct. And B-Hop didn't have 20something straight defenses just because he was dirty, hes a GREAT fighter.
Look this is shit that happens in the ring. And yes, sometimes it's a lil out of sorts. Fucking Miranda Abraham 1 was one of the worst fights I have ever seen from the 5 or 6th round on. It was like watching a fuckin Tim Donaghy refed basketball game in which he placed a large wager on the game. Stoppage every 30 secs and 62 free throw attempts from one team. Newman was forced to stop the action constantly and take points away. It happens though. Yes sometimes its over the top, and both of you guys are right. But don't say that guys like BHop and Casamayor shouldnt be in the Hall becuase that's the way these guy have always fought throughout there respected careers!
I don't think Roy carried Tito. The fight was quite competitive until the later rounds, it was simply a case of Roy doing what he usually did, boxing conservatively to win in the safest, least risky way possible.
I think talk of Roy carrying Tito is just wishful thinking on the part of Roy fans who would like to disbelieve the evidence of their own eyes about how far Roy is gone, in order to find a way to believe he can beat Calzaghe.
If you mean "Gone" in the sense of not being the same fighter that he was from 94-2004, then yes Roy is gone. Then again is Calz the same fighter he was from say 99-2006? No. No fighter is going to be the same ya know. They will have to compensate for a lack of what they once had physically. Do I think Roy has a chance, Absolutely, not because I wanna hold on to what h e was, but becuase there flaws in Calz game that suits Roy. My posts above explain y I think Roy has a chance. Roy didn't carry Tito, Tito was just way above any weight he should ever think about fighting at, and he your right that Roy did exactly what he knew he could do to secure a victory with the least amount of risk. Make Tito come forward and potshot.
This is my point, look at Hatton-Collazo. What happened early? The fight was rougher than Collazo wanted and he spent more time complaining to the ref and not enough time fighting back.
Once Collazo stopped complaining and started fighting, look what happened. He started beating Hatton up.
Yeah no shit. Collazo still should won that fight man. And he gave away some rounds early cuz he was too busy bitching instead of fighting!
It's not that I'm a Pavlik fan, or that I'm not a Hopkins fan, I'm just calling it how I see it playing out. You're right about getting timed (Pavlik), but I think Pavlik can probably take a HOpkins right pretty good, and the more he throws, the less sting they'll have on them. And he's going to have to counter, and do everything else he can think of to keep Pavlik off him, or he's going to get beaten down like the old man he is.
Hopkins is pretty resourceful, and it's possible he can come up with a way to finish on his feet without being DQ'd, but if there is, I can't see it. But there's no way he wins, not even a remote chance. If Pavlik weren't in as superb shape as he is, I'd give Hopkins a 50/50 chance....he's got vast ring smarts, but that can't conquer youth and conditioning. If he were a huge puncher at that weight, I'd even give him a decent chance at a KO...after all, Pavlik is certainly hittable, but the reality is that Hopkins was never a devastating puncher.
If theres a winnable fight for Hopkins right now it's Pavlik. But if theres a KO loss to come for the first time in his career, it's Pavlik. IDK what too think thus far, but he is in for a tough fight, or a relatively easy one.
I could see him just dominating ala Antonio Tarver.
But I can also see the worst beating of Hopkins career come up.
Nice, I'm just a little concerned with seeing a sort of repeat of the B-Hop fight. Frustrating simply because it seemed Hop had the tools and smarts to beat Calzaghe but a result of his endurance or atleast it seemed he was unable to take advantage. I'd hate to have to watch Jones on his back heels waiting all fight to pull the trigger.
See I think that Jones will be able to pull the trigger. Lets look at it like this, Calzaghe is an ouput fighter. Who throws and throws and throws and lots of times, like we seen in the BHop fight, he throws wild. Jones is a counter puncher by nature. He waits and sits and waits until he see's an opening. Now against Tarver, he didn't see many, and when you look at what he threw, it was when HE was being the agressor, not the counter puncher. Look at round 11-12 and Tarver Jones 1, and round 5 of the Tarver Jones 3 fight. Tarver is a big puncher, he possess 1 punch KO power, point blank. Now, does Calzaghe..............NO. And this is where he will be hurt by his own output IMO. Jones will not be afraid to let his hands go, he will throw when Calzaghe opens up, and he will find a big home for hie patented straight right hand. BHop is a very good counter puncher, but not in the sense of having the ability to land one sharp hard accurate punch with speed and catch a man off balance. His right hand the landed against Calz in his fight wasn't a fast one at all, but sharp and accurate. Throw some speed in there and Calz could be iced. I think, and again it's my opinion, that Jones will have Calzaghe in a freeze at some point in the fight. Calz will be the one who won't be able to get off as Jones will land some clean accurate counter shots that Calz will not like. And if there is one way to beat Calz and to beat him bad it's let him make mistakes and leave himself open for such punches. Calz's defense is his OFFENSE. If he at any point get frozen in there because of Jones ability to land punches when Calz throws, HE"S IN SOME DEEP WATER!!
lol......................we all saw Lennox cut him with a crazy landing punch. It was a legal punch.
Boof, no sense all these Klit guys on here seem to think it was a headbutt cuz they didn't see no blood after that huge shot he landed. It was cuz he face was too busy trying to stay attached to his skull.
Anywho, I don't think he was shot, old yes but not shot. I also don't think he was prepared at all for the fight. He looked cold and sluggish right off the get go. He didn't seem to have trained very hard for the fight. If you look at the times Lewis has struggled, it's always been about conditioning and training. Yes Mccall caught his stiff with a huge shot, but I still question his training. And we all know about how he trained for Rahman.
felix Sturm's Real Name Is Adnan Catic.
The Nazi Germans Made Him Change His Slavic Name
He Has 100% Eastern European Serbian Blood
well I"m Very Proud!
Damn right fruity!!
Jones also got Klobbered, while ya boy was sent packing not once but 3 times 3 times 3 times.
Get off his balls please.
The Tarver punch was one of the biggest one punch shots in history of boxing. Your telling me the Corrie Sanders landed a cleaner shot then that. Or wait, Ross Purity did. Or wait Lamon Brewster shot was more devastating then Tarver's?!?!?!
calm down Jones got exposed as a glass jawed hype job
OkEnd of convo. You just continue to make urself look more and more retarted. Good Job Wlad. Great Job!!
he didn't carry shit.dude was gun shy.he thought the same shit many people thought if tito catches him flush he could go down.don't go fronting like he was doing tito a favor when he was being a fucking jackass threw out the fight.he should ktfo tito early.period.and don't give me that bullshit McClellan story.the more a fight goes on the more punches a fighter takes the more the possibility of someone getting hurt badly.getting ktfo with having taken few shots its better than taking twelve rounds of punishment.roy fans be on some delusional shit some times.seriously.what the fuck.
I dont think he carried Tito, and in fact, Tito came out very strong during the first 4-5 rounds.
a Roy Jones fan posting devastating knockouts :rofl:
Damn right fruity!!
Jones also got Klobbered, while ya boy was sent packing not once but 3 times 3 times 3 times.
Get off his balls please.
Wlad was awake when he got beat :lol1:
Jones had a 15 min nap on the canvas :lol1:
Guy watcha fight then talk to me. You are by far now into Viva Mexico land as a terrible fuckin poster.
Jones was up around 8 and the ref stopped itfuckin Idiot!
Jones was out for about 5 mins after the Glen Johnson fight and that was not from the canvas a hell of alot more then the punch which by the way landed pretty hard.
Watch more boxing fights then ur Eastern European fighters please.
HAHA T Gimme the Loot Gimme the Loot.
And Natas I feel the same way, but again, I think that with a victory he's an absolute shoe in. I think he's one of the most talented fighters of our era, and his ability to make his opponents frustrated from his tactis is somehting I've always loved. He is a smaller version of B-Hop. Both very very crafty.
Crafty is the reason I see Casamayor winning a wide decision over Marquez. Also the sioze, and mix in Casamayor's tactics on the inside and his ability to counter will give Marquez problems all night.
This is the thing, watch Roy's fights over the years, he's always paced himself. Going into the Ruiz fight for instance, he averaged like 34 punches per round. He's never been an output fighters, but one thing he's also never done is waste his punches. He's always landed around 30-40% of his punches. Too say that he cant hang over a 12 round fight to me is a lil preposterous. The guy has fought 12 round 13 times. He's also gone past 10 and either won by KO or TKO another 5 times. So too me, Roy winning this fight by late KO isnt totally out of the question. The guy has always possessed the ability to fight for a full 12. Its just his style of not throwing thatg much that makes ppl think differently.
To add to this, Ive really only notcied one time in which Roy was unable to pull the trigger. That was Tarver Jones 3. He was soo worried about Tarver landing a huge punch that he didn't throw. I think i round 7-8 Jones threw like 7 punches. He just didnt throw anything.
Now Jones V Johnson was totally different. Jones was just pressure way too much and by a thudding puncher in Johnson. When Johnson get ppl on the ropes, he punishes them. The KO was Def. a solid thudding shot the the side almost the back of Jones ear, but Roy was completely layed out when he hit the canvas as hard as he did. Jones tried to only throw to keep Glencoffe from continuing to press forward. Johnson being able to take a mean shot as he always has been, Jones had no chance in that fight, let along coming back from a vicious KO at the hands of a fighter only 4 months prior.
Yep, it does happen, and I agree that a ref that stops action constantly would be better off in the parking lot directing traffic...that way he stays busy, and out of the way of the fight itself. All I'm saying is that constant intentional fouls have no place in the sport, in my opinion, and that fighter has no place in the HOF...again, my opinion. And Speiglo is right, in part at least, about my age. I was taught a keener sense of sportsmanship because I was raised in a different era than you kids were, but don't go thinking that I don't believe in fighting dirty, either....just not in the ring. Oh, I'm not going to mash a guy's nuts into jelly in a simple barfight (that I probably would've started anyway, just for fun), but if I'm deep in the shit, anything goes.
HAHA very true. But like we said theres only so much an official can continue to do. And also, different officials also have different tolerance levels. I think if say Smoger was in the ring that night instead of Newman, Miranda doesn't lose the 2 late point that he lost for low blows. Smoger has always been a stickler when it comes to giving each individual fighter the utmost warnings before he tends to get involved. Now look at what Newman did also the way Nady tends to get involved in a lot of his fights. He's wlays been a huge point deduction ref. Member TRinidad and Vargas. He was taking points away without giving either fighter a real chance with a warning.
I know this is a ridiculous question but.. Can someone plse give estimate on the amount of punches per round they think Jones can throw? 50, 80? Lemme know. I'm starting to think Calzaghe isn't neccessarily as guaranteed to win as people might believe.
This is the thing, watch Roy's fights over the years, he's always paced himself. Going into the Ruiz fight for instance, he averaged like 34 punches per round. He's never been an output fighters, but one thing he's also never done is waste his punches. He's always landed around 30-40% of his punches. Exactly. Jones let Glen win, he felt bad that Glen kept getting robbed so he took a nap. He had been busy helping the poor the day before, so needed rest.
True story.
T please don't back this guy up. He's fuckin terrible and really don't need anyone to give him respect cuz hes a bum.
That's a good one, Personally I find the Khan KO a bit funnier. But the Sanders one was pretty good.
Wlad got KOed by the Whiff of Sanders Mysterious Mustache bro....Com on now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
