PBF fights when he wants to fight because at the minute he is the biggest attraction along with Pac in Boxing and can pick and choose when he competes. His schedule would be different if he was looking to add more titles to his cv, but he's openly admitted he's not in it for the titles anymore, instead so he says the big pay cheque and i think the adulation of being the best fighter in the world.
the only gripe i have with Pac and these weight issues, are the titles that are on the line, if there is a ww title on the line the fighters should be made to fight at 147, if jmw then at 154 and so on. He is marg at 150, ffs that is closer ww than jmw, and a 154 belt is on the line. Apart from that i have no problems with him going up in weight classes
I would go with JMM as the better counter puncher, not by much. However PBF is the superior fighter of the two in terms of his overall package, footwork, speed, ability to adapt etc. I would def go as far as to say PBF is the best fighter of this era
Newbie here! Watched the boxing there now myself, think Barry said any Middleweight in Britain as opposed to the world, but could be wrong. Just wanted to say I was impressed by Tyson Fury. First time i've seen him and you would think for a guy that size, six nine ****, his hand movement and ability would be more clumsey than anything, like most of the British Heavyweights these days. Even though the calibre of fighter was poor, he didnt run in and throw blow after blow, he looked for openings was smart and when the time came landed those body shots, which looked as though a few ribs could have been damaged, he hit four clean shots! And each time you could see the pain in the guys face! And to think hes still 20 (looks about 40 lol) but was very impressed.
Fight will happen but the stumbling block will be the purse of each fighter. Each are guna go into negotiations with a 60/40 mindset. Floyd Jnr ego will not let Pac get more money than him, so if he wants the fight I think pac will need to accept that 60/40 in PBFs favour is the only way this fight is going to happen.
Think people need to take a few things into consideration here. Clottey is no ****ing journey man, but a very effective and talented boxer, who has a very impressive record,39 Fights, 35 Wins. Were people expecting cotto to steam roll him? Was never guna happen. I also think people are not giving Cotto enough credit for the shift he put in on saturday. He won this fight against a top top welterweight having been blinded with blood in one eye for 3/4 of the fight, that above all else should be enough to give Cotto respect. Not this Pac would whoop cotto nonsence
Basically he was saying Haye should have fought Wladimir without getting paid no money whatsoever.
Piss off Frank, you'd never let that happen if one of your fighters was in that situation. You should have retired like you said you would when Haye KO'd Enzo Macc.
I agree he is a cancer in the British and Irish Boxing scene, and the quicker we see the back of him the better. Hopefully Hatton and Hayemaker promotions really take off and we get good young talent on their books!
arghh i hate Warren, hes such a cu*nt !
Why the hell was he given a regular article in the paper anyway?
Surely the editors knew Most if not ALL boxing fans HATE HIM!
Its The Sun mate lol... How you use The Sun
1) Let someone else at work buy the paper
2) Bring the paper to the bog with you for a shit
3) have the shit
4) Then use The Sun to wipe your arse!
Its the most popular brand of bog role at the minute
I think everybody expected him to KO Mayers early in the fight but he still dominated the fight imo, and gotta remember that was still only his 6th pro fight, still learning. And seeing this will be a Top Rank fight, it will prob be more than likely he will be on the undercard.. I think the lads quality
You wanted proof that Khan is treated like scum because of his skin color?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4In5OJ4UowY
There ya go! Admit it you Brits hate the guy because of his skin color: He even said it himself: "If I were white Id be a superstar".
He is the best world class boxer your country has, He could have boxed for Pakistan at the olympics but chose the UK, Now he has left the UK for USA and a better life.
Ah come on mate, that bottle was nowhere near Khan, not as if it was everybody throwing bottles, one bottle. People do dislike Khan, and I aint going lie some of it quite clearly is motivated by racism. But Khan does himself **** all favours with his attitude
Man i thought Haye was the real deal, but that whole Wlad episode showed how much of a farce he is! No fight in nearly a year to end up with Vitali, he'll get ****ed up, deservedly so!
i agree to an extent, but cotto isnt exactly on fire at the minute. he did well last saturday but wasnt too far away from losing. he lost to margarito which will have taken a bit out of him. clottey, margarito, jennings and gomez are not as quick as pac. the fight with hatton, you cant take credit away. im a hatton fan and its clear to see that pac was just too good. hatton did go face first, but when hasnt he? and nobody else managed to do what pac did.
Glad you concur with my earlier post mate, but in regards to no one else doing this to Hatton, has Hatton ever went into a fight as unprepared in his career than against Pac? I believe if Hatton had still been with Billy Graham that fight would have lasted longer, the outcome would not have been different, Pac was far too good for him. But look at the slow pictures of the KO punch, you can see it in Hattons face that he a) wasnt Hungry b) was scared c) and was unprepared. He looked as though he was waiting for that punch to put him out of his misery, there wasnt that look he had against Tszyu, or even against Mayweather. I think that fight had alot to do with Hattons inabilities on the night as opposed to Pacs greatness on the night
two fighters from two different eras in smw boxing, both fighters I consider greats.. I think its wrong to say Joe was ducking fighters etc, the fact is from early to mid 90's with benn, eubank, collins, mcclellan that was great period of SMW boxing, that period past Joe arrived on the scene and until 06/07 with the arrival of Kessler, Froch,Ward etc, there just wasnt the calibre of fighters for Joe to fight in the division during his reign.. I compare it the HW division with Wlad K, he will go down as a great however he will always be tarnished with the brush that it wasnt a great era for HW boxing.. When Joe was top it wasnt a great era for SMW..
Both top fighters and Warren should just in general shut the **** up.. Seems like someone is getting worried about Eddie Hearn's monopoly of the British scene and TV lol..
The only problem with Naseem Hamed was his true dedication to the Sport, during the mid-90's and especially in the UK, he was quite possibly the most recognisable, and famous sportsman around, that can have a lot of drawbacks, especially when Naz didnt exactly lead a very humble life, he did spend and lead the lifestyle of young sportsman at the top of his game, that is what I think knocked Naz's eye off the ball, not his talent. His talent, relfexes and by god his punching power was immense. He had the punching power of a middleweight ffs!
I rate Khan.. he def does have the talent.. he just needs to ****ing "FOCUS" on the job at hand, not get complacent and ****y during fight and start learning how to become a ring general and ffs get those hands up!!
First and foremost however, he needs to stop this name dropping of potential opponents and looking past his current opponent, i.e. mayweather. Thats two fights in a row he has done that, and thats two fights he has lost in row!! Wakeup call if ever there was one...
It may also be time to think about a change for Khan and Freddie.. If Roach hasnt got that amateur mindset out of khan at this stage of his career and he is no rookie anymore he is coming into his prime (considering he turned pro 7 years ago or so), i don't think he ever will. A change could be good for Khan
I aint British by any means, "Irish", so i aint nuthugging anyone, but why is there so much negativity towards British fighters. Mitchell does not suck by any means, hes a quality fighter who will in the future become a world champ, Katsidis is just a ****ing beast!!
During the Ruiz fight I have to say I was'nt very impressed with his fitness levels, in my opinion during the fight he did look as though he was gassing, but an explaination for this was given by Adam Booth after the fight, apparently Haye hadnt sparred in about a month leading up to the fight because of a cut sustained during camp, but he has to be given credit for the way he did pummell Ruiz for 9 solid rounds, landing more than a dozen bombs in each round, which as we all know are more energy zapping that Harrisons tap tap jab. So i think the argument of Gassing can go out the window in this situation.
On paper I would like to see the fight! But **** all this catchweight balls! Cotto should stay and fight at 147, Pac should stay at light welterweight. Would like to Cotto vs SSM or Cotto vs Margarito before a Pac fight
Sounds familiar.. The next big thing in the British press was Audley Harrison and then Amir Khan! This was going off the back of them fighting binmen and school teachers, and being hailed as the next great BRITISH hope. Yet fighters like Hatton, Calzaghe just slip under the presses radar, receive no real attention until they actually do something in the ring!
If Shane doesnt land a Martinez esque punch in the first two rounds and get Manny out early, the fight will be over. He will gas like he did against Floyd, only whereas Floyd took him tactically apart, Manny will destroy him within 5. The fight is a ****ing joke, thankfully us outside of AMerica dont have to pay for this, saying that we forked out for Haye vs Harrison :S, but it is a shame that we are not going to see Manny really tested once again, another Fighter hand picked based on his weaknesses rather than what type of competition he can provide!
lol fs is this site trying to put its own spin on the fight.. From looking at those pics you would think Floyd got whipped, when it was the other way about...
Strangley enough i remember laughing at the site when it posted the pictures from the pacquaio marquez fight... From those pics you would have thought pac was dominant and whooped marquez's ass lol.. The power of editing!!!
I think Khans a bit of twat, but imo Froch's an even bigger twat.. Was good to see him get beat last night.. Spent the whole week talking about Calzaghe rather focusing on kessler, and ends up being scalped by a fighter who calzaghe beat in his prime and when still undefeated! Hopefully once this super six is done, its the last we see of Froch at world elite level!
Cotto should fight Pac on his terms in regards to the weight! None of this weight draining bollocks that will hand the initiative to pac. Pac is the one looking for the fight, not cotto, i think cotto is happy enough to continue to fight real welterweights, with the ultimate goal of getting margarito back in the ring. Therefore the weight should established on how low cotto feels comfortable droppping too. We all know that Manny has no problem in stepping up weight divisions. So the weight I think should be determined by Cotto
a hardcore cotto fun!!!!!!!!
Im sorry but Pac is too fast and too strong. Cotto is slow and bigger than PAc. that's all!!!!!!!!!!
Try to believe that it will happen... remember: NO ONE BELIEVE PAC WILL BEAT OSCAR AND HATTON SUPER EASILY....
Are you for real mate? Your comparing a weight drained and past his sell by date DLH and an amatuerish/foolish Ricky Hatton to Miguel Cotto. If this fight happens it will not and I repeat will not be as one sided as Pacs last two fights. If JMM can hurt him at 130 then Miguel Cotto can do worse! Fact
I dont think Haye realises that he is the laughing stock of not only British and World boxing, but also sport in general. No one wants to see him fight, no one wants to see Wlad put a whooping down again. I think a number of things have come to light about Mr Haye after this weekend, one, is that I feel he is a bit dillusional, and clearly not there. He is trying to convince himself he is still relevant in the HW division, when quite clearly he is not after this weekend, he is a challenger, and a weak challenger at best because the fan base he has lost after that fight is serious. Just do what you said you'd do, and at least stay true to some of your statements.
RETIRE!!!!
Are some of these comments serious? This an Olympic Bronze medalist, an excellent technical boxer with some serious power, however he is derided like he's a Sam Sexton or Chisora.
Don't be fooled David Price is the real deal, and I guarantee he will be a World Champion in the near future
