Going up 40 pounds himself, and only asking a couple of pounds less from them.
DON'T GET ME WRONG, I am not in favor of catchweights.
But Manny is giving a lot more by fighting naturally bigger men closer to their weight. He's a skinny guy that has to eat like a mule in order to make 147, while, for example, Cotto is a natural fat boy that hangs around 170 and has to diet in order to make 147. Same thing with Hatton at 140.
"I'm foookin MASSIVE at 140" - Ricky Hatton
My issue with this whole catchweight thing is his claim of greatness that comes with it. Ill explain.
Manny can fight whoever he wants how ever he wants and i could care less but my issue is that he is the p4p #1 fighter in the world and as such he should be held to a different standard just like floyd was when he was # 1 but he is not. He is basically cheating history in the sense that he is trying to show his greatness by fighting naturally bigger guys but he doesnt want them to come in at their best. That is not greatness. If you are great you move up and fight champions at their best. He has a hand and foot speed advantage over most guys bigger than him so that means the other guys only advantage is his size and power which manny tries to take away with the catchweights. No offense to his fans but to me that is lame. If you are too small to fight at JMW then dont. Dont try to cheat history. As #1 p4p floyd never asked any fighter to come down to fight him.
Einstein.....154 is the limit for for jr middleweight. it is from 148 lbs to 154 lbs. Therefore you can hover between those weight to be a JRMW.
and your argument of no essence whatsoever. it is just a rant nothing more.you must learn more.that is all.
What hes saying is, if your fighting for the 154 Title, you should rightfully be allowed to weigh in at 154, where as in this fight you are not. Sure, you can win the title at 154 and weigh in at 150 if you want, but you should always be allowed to weigh in between 148 and 154 if your fighting for the 154 title, Period.
Hes also highlighting the whole Cacthweight for a Vacant title and if its true i wasnt aware that this is the first fight to do so.
Please dude,U guys just don't get it,there have been many catchweight title fights,we all know this!!But how many title catchweight fight for vacant titles have there been!!Neither Pacman or Margarito hold a 154 pound title, get it??Probably not, when B-Hop & Oscar fought,B-Hop held titles!!Bring up any catchweight title fight & 1 of the fighters involved had the title!!Pacman Margarito is for a vacant title, why couldn't Pacman fight a title holder at a catchweight??Title holder,do U get it or not,No 154lb champion is fighting at that catchweight, none,do U understand, neither Margarito or Pacman are champions at 154,neither hold a title, neither are 154lb champion,it is a catchweight title fight for a vacant title, can U comprehend, please go find some examples of catchweight title fights for a vacant belt,go find some, they aren't many, can U comprehend or can U not??Vacant title at a catchweight, fight a champion Manny, pfp #1,why can't he fight a champion, instead of a disgraced stable mate,Jeeze U people just can't get it!!

Cotto was in training camp for 2.5 months for clottey, he was training to make 147lbs. Against Pacquiao he was traing to make 145lbs.
Yes Margarito has been at 147lbs for a long time, but his last fight was at 154lbs, so why not fight him at 154lbs
Margarito looked like sh*t at 154.....his last fight. weight won't be the issue.
that he's a come-forward slugger, who's gonna try to pressure someone he can't catch....well, that's another issue...and the reason he'll probably lose.
weight won't be the issue. His trainer said Margo came into camp in much better shape than his comeback fight.
"all belts do is collect dust" - FMJ
Cotto said he didn't have trouble making 145 and he felt just as strong as his last fight at 146 vs. Clottey.
Margarito has made 147 countless times...and was a force at that weight. He'll make 151 EASILY.

Why ask Cotto to come in at 145lbs? why not 147lbs
Why ask Margarito to come in at 150lbs? why not 154lbs
Damn, belts were and are on the line

Listen dude,Pacman is the pfp #1.People have always criticized Floyd for not fighting fighters he considers a threat, well news flash homey, fighting people at catchweights for titles repeatedly is just as bad!!Margarito has done nothing at 154 to be fighting for a title there!!At the very least when Floyd fought for the 154 title,it was against Oscar who weighted in at 154 while Floyd weighted in at 149 & Oscar was a legit champion at 154!!Pacman isn't fighting Margarito at Margarito's weight,he's fighting him at bob arum's doctored up catchweight, that's what it is,period!!

Which one is it? I'm confused. Is Pacqiauo taking 1,000,000 calories a day to make 147? or has Pacqiauo been unoffically been weighing in at roughly 145 on the day of his fights since he was fighting at 130?
In fairness i havnt actually seen you personally jump on the new theory, but i know alot of others have, dudes need to make up there minds. As for fighting guys at there size, What about Oscar? Yeah Manny moved up but it still wasn't fighting at Oscars weight, as for the others, yeah your right.
the same Floyd fans that say "ABC" paper-belts are worthless and quote Mayweather "belts collect dust"...
are the same guys who have a gripe with Manny fighting catchweight title fights.
Pick ONE.
- either Championship belts don't mean anything...and the FIGHT and CHALLENGE is what matters...
- or championship belts are legit and hold weight..and add to a fighter's legacy and status in the sport.
personally, I don't care too much about belts. the FIGHT is what matters. You don't need a championship belt to know that there are few, if any, boxers in the world who can beat Floyd or Manny.
So as for the Margo fight, and the vacant title being at a catchweight...who gives a sh*t? With or without the belt, Manny's legacy is already written in stone. (so is Floyd's). If the fight itself isn't fixed (bobby's a sneaky old turd)....then Manny will be fighting a MUCH bigger man who is at a meaningless disadvantage (Margo will make 151lbs easily).

the only gripe i have with Pac and these weight issues, are the titles that are on the line, if there is a ww title on the line the fighters should be made to fight at 147, if jmw then at 154 and so on. He is marg at 150, ffs that is closer ww than jmw, and a 154 belt is on the line. Apart from that i have no problems with him going up in weight classes
I agree with you. Belts should NOT be on the line in catchweight matches. If the belt is from 148 to 154, you should be able to weight between 148 to 154.
