I think Larry Merchant is part of the problem with Boxings' popularity these days compared to the UFC... Don't get me wrong now, I know Boxing still has the edge on all MMA by a wide margin, and I've seen the De La Hoya Vs Mayweather numbers, and I'm a fan of both sports, but boxing is the creme de la creme for me personally. But there's no doubting that the free UFC card on the same night as Mayweather Vs Hatton had to hurt the PPV numbers a bit here in North America at the very least... For me, I'm looking at the big picture here, literally, the T.V. HBO's Larry Merchant is like Mr. Burns on The Simpsons, he's old, slow, un-knowledgeable and antiquated, and no one would watch the Mr Burns Show. Merchant is always arguing with the professionals as well, and he's very self-indulged for a guy like George Foreman said, that hasn't ever even been in the ring himself, not even as an Am or as a bloody sparring partner. Joe Rogan on the flip side offers some familiarity as he was the host of the exciting and very successful Fear Factor, and Rogan actually has knowledge of the sport he is talking about, even training in the famous Miletich Camp. Now when you consider what is going to keep the New younger fans excited and entertained, who makes more sense (or cents even) to be on that T.V.???

I promised Lisa Brown I would try and watch her fight tonight (live) in Trinidad on PPV, problem is no one knows where the fight will be shown. Can anyone on here let me know if there is somewhere on the inet where the fights from Trinidad will be broadcasted? Its an all female card Trinidad vs. USA... Thanx

K, now for real, this question is, for the real fight fans and professionals that read the shit in here. Who will take John Ruiz's belt? We all know the guy is almost as bad a paper champ as Shitco, and it's cuzza Don King he still has a belt at all. So who will finally KO this bum and restore some dignity to the title of World's Heavyweight Champion?

On tuesday night fights some girl fighter (and not a bad fighter, but wait a sec here) almost compaired herself to Marvin Hagler. Teddy put her in her place on the spot. It was too funny. Mad respect Teddy, Truth is George told that old fuck on HBO he's an idiot (and he is, I don't even want to give him the respect of typin his name) and George got fired. "how many fights in the ring have you had?" a fair question. For marvin it's not even a question. The guy is a gentleman and another true legend in the game. Thanks Marvin for the will to win and teddy for the skill to tell it how it really is, (usually).

With steriods showing up in all major sports and boxing being as corrupt as it at least has been in the past, which boxers do you believe may be using or have used steriods? And don't say steriods are not in boxing at all because thats like saying there is no way that Buster Douglas could knock out Mike Tyson.

Oscar De La Hoya is a man who has done Legendary thingz in boxing, and who is very busy establishing himself as a promoter. Fair enough. But with every one and his uncle and their uncle calling Oscar out for a payday, where is the former Super Featherweight phenom who eventaully became a Middleweight Champ? Someones gotta tell him his time is running out and if the "Golden Boy" is gonna go out with a win, he's gonna have to do it soon before he finally starts to rust. Who would you like to see him fight if someone finds him, and does he win ?

Tell me what you all think of this one. Mike vs. Evander for a third and final battle, and why not. Both guys are older, slower, weaker, (Mike's poorer)and the up side here is since neither one seems to be able to win a fight anymore, someone actually may at this show. I say "may" because this also has the potential to be the closest thing to Wrestlemania outside of wrestling. And who knows, Tyson may actually be able to bet on himself in this fight and cash a real paycheque. What do y'all think about this matchup and would you watch it?

Well "Pretty Boy" Floyd sure did a good job on convincing the world that he deserves much respect and the title of P4P King against an older much slower and seemingly helpless Gatti in Atlantic City. Mayweather was unbelievably dominatating in both his defense and his offence in his first title fight since entering the 140lb realm. Sure Gatti was not a true champ being he did not take his title from Tszyu, and sure Gatti would probably lose to Hatton, Tszyu and even Cotto (but he would definitely eat Maussa's food). However, no fighter since Roy Jones jr has remained undefeated for so long while actually improving in all 3 major areas, offence, defence, and stamina (I mean does this guy ever get tired,) while not dodging anyone deserving a shot, and constantly moving on once all opponents in the champs respected weight class have been obliterated. And did anyone else notice how Floyd was so seemingly easily able to see every punch Gatti threw and how he avoided allowing almost all of them from having even a remote chance of doing any damage. This was a better boxing demonstration than what Winky had displayed vs. Trinidad. Now Hopkins does undoubtably own the middleweight division and has for an awesomely long time, but what Mayweather showed in his prefight warm-up had more luster than any of Hopkins' victories dating back to when Bernard sent Toney packing on a voyage that eventually lead to the Heavyweight title (a whole other story in itself). Congradulations Floyd on a great performance that has this boxing fan unpatiently waiting to see who you will destroy next (probably Hatton since he's already been the next victim of Floyds verbal assault tactics), and has me asking - after Hatton what's next, Tszyu or 147? (after all Harris is gone for now, and Cotto is way too young and will not be ready for this level fighter for at least a few years). As well thank-you Floyd for bringing respect back to the title of World Boxing Champion during an era starving for successors to the great ones

During a recent local boxing match for which I was ring announcing, I gave a Latino friend who's making his pro debut this weekend in Quebec a nickname I had been reserving for Miguel Cotto for some time now as there are similarities in how my friend pressures fighters out of their game plan with a mad birrage of punches in bunches. "The Latin Assasin" perfectly describes the way Cotto looks before a fight and also how he murders his opponents with mass combinations of punches from every angle. What do you think is a good nickname for the young rising star?

Already rumours are re-circulating regarding Mike Tyson fighting an MMA match against the "beast". Is no holds barred how Mike finally gets out of debt? or does Tyson find another sanctioning body to ban him?

Who is the Pound 4 Pound Champ Mayweather or Hopkins? Bernard the only man who literally owns his own division in boxing; or the seemingly unstoppable Floyd who alongside his father makes up one of the three best "one two" fighter trainer combo's ever alongside Mike Tyson and Cus, as well as Ali and Angelo. But looking at Floyd Mayweather alonside those names and looking at what Hopkins is doing I'd say you have to give the nod to Hopkins. Judah, Marquez and Corrales would round out the top five not necessarily in that order. What do you think?

Vitali Klitschko has yet to beat a world champion, and yet he is a world champion. How can a man who would appear to have some intelligence call himself the World's Heavyweight Boxing Champion, knowing there are other belt's out there owned by "live" champions that he has not even challenged for. He lost to Lewis. And who has he beaten since? Until Klitschko beats Byrd or whoever can wrestle Ruiz's belt from Don King he will remain the man who Lennox Lewis destroyed after eating a number of large sized combos and sleeping through his last 6 months of training. Vitali Klitschko has probably already phoned Mike Tyson and asked him if he is busy in a year from now. About the next time this guy will be ready to schedule another match to duck a real contender, like say Rahman. This is why the World's Heavyweight Boxing Title has lost it's luster. It has been stolen by an imposter. Oh yeah, and Don King.

Mike Tyson at age 19 with Cus in his corner is simply unbeatable. The ability to load offensive power while evading all danger is what Mike Tyson had (physically) mastered as is the essence of the art of boxing. With Cus as the brains of what combinations of punches to through and in what numbers, for any fighter, standing in Mike's corner; you have the greatest team ever in boxing history.

Mayweather has to fight Gatti on the outside for almost the enire 12 rounds if he is to be the winner of this fight. If Gatti is allowed to get anything set up on the inside (especially the hooks to the body), or if he is able to get Mayweather to punch with him rather than box him, Gatti will finally be recognized pound for pound as a the real fighter he deserve to be and KO Floyd. If Mayweather fights smart he can out box Gatti who only after his battles with Ward has shown any consistency in keeping his face from exploding. This is definitely the fight to watch of 2005.
