Yeah this fight should be at 154, I haven’t been following this much has Cotto actually asked for a 150lb catch weight or is this just a rumour?
If he has asked for 150 its clearly a b!tch move he saw how drained Marg was against Pac at 150 I would expect Cotto to want to beat Marg on even terms (show he’s the better man) but searching for these advantages to me is just a no no.
I agree about your point, but marg was not drained against pac. He was huge and in good shape fight night. Im not sure if cotto is actually pursuing this, or just playing mind games sticking it to margarito. Considering margarito's sin he commited, i have no problem with this. forget the title, this is a bad blood rematch.
i wouldnt say hes ducking but hes clearly cherrypicking. the same ppl that call pac and may cherrypickers ignore this tho. because cotto used to fight everyone. funny thing is so did floyd and pac. ppl only cherrypick when they can do it. and now that cotto can do it, he clearly does. i understand the foreman fight, he needed that belt. but since then....
The foreman fight is certainly excusable. He was an undefeated champion...many picked cotto to lose, including half of this board. Cotto dominated, outboxing a boxer.
Mayorga was a wasted fight, in the sense that mayorga is finished (tho he came in one of the best shapes of his career). With that said, cotto is steadily improving under manny, so it was a good fight to put everything he's learned into play. He'll be back, fighting the biggest names.
He certainly isnt scurred, and will fight anyone in front of him. If you have a problem with who is in front of him, blame arum.
Him beating Tony at this point is more about revenge than rankings. I mean Tony hasn't done anything since he beat Cotto in 08. And, if Cotto fought Manny again we would get the same result.
Maybe, maybe not brah(about pac). I could go on about how much steward has improved Cotto's boxing (which was already decent beforehand), his footwork has improved massively, and he is putting good work in with body shots aswell. Aside from all that, tacticlly, manny has a decent weakness with counter punchers/boxers. He murks people who try to stand toe to toe and bang it out, he is too quick and powerful. Cotto tried bullrushing him, and got caught bad. Cotto did well when he boxed manny. I think under the tutelage of steward, cotto has a better chance than ever to beat manny.
If he beats margo and pac, i dont see how he isnt. His track record would certainly look better than most to all fighters, as far the the competition faced.
He may be past his prime, as far as athletic wise, but i believe he is a better boxer now. With the help of manny, he has settled into his identity, a boxer puncher, instead of just being a brawler.
Cotto is not shot, he's just not prime. He moves less, throws less punches and gets hit even more easily than he once did. He never was a great defensive fighter but his jab acted like defense for him for a long time.
He doesn't seem to throw the jab as effectively and as often as he once did.
You're completely wrong about the jab bit, its as effective as ever (it went away for a bit, but since manny came in, its been great against foreman and mayo). His footwork is tremendously improved aswell. I would like to see more body work from him, but he is doing just fine.
Cotto punched himself out of the fight, quite simply. THis go around he is gonna pace himself more and outbox him the whole fight.
a big part of boxing is psychological too. If margs hands were plastered, he knew he had to survive atleast six for it to harden, i.e. its easier to will yourself through punishment. If he didnt have the plaster, it would be easier to have your will destroyed when getting worked over, and not have anything to fight for.
Considering why his trainer said he wrapped margs hands for the mosley fight, it only makes more sense that he did wrap them ileggaly for the cotto fight.
Maybe because Berto was the Champion didn't get completely demolished and also dropped Ortiz twice, I feel he deserves a shot at getting his belt back, and I wanna see if Ortiz can hold on to the belt against the guy he took it from.
1. how did berto get the belt. who'd he beat, who has he beat, and who has ortiz had a draw with?
2. why does he deserve a shot at getting the belt back that he shouldnt of even held in the first place. their just giving belts away today.
3. what would that prove, beating the guy he already beat, a belt held by a guy who shouldnt of even been holding the belt.
berto was a hype job, and got exposed. now yall are on ortiz nuts, and he'll get exposed by people who should actually be holding the belt. fuk berto-ortiz II. dont get me wrong, it would be an entertaining fight, but wouldnt prove jack sh!t. throw ortiz in with cotto, throw berto in with cotto, and we'll see whats up.
why do you guys want to see ortiz-berto II? berto was nothing more than overhype. dude cant box whatsoever. he'll get wins against lower teir competition cause of his power, but thats about it. he is doomed to be outboxed...again.
He rolled his ankle, and it clearly didnt affect his movement whatsoever. If it had been severe/problem, he would have been limping around the ring, no matter how bad he wanted to move.
Was just an excuse he concocted to justify the ass whooping he was receiving at that time.
Bradley didn't even use it as an excuse, it's something that happened in the heat of battle. You're acting as if he didn't legitimately twist his ankle, the footage is right there. What Haye did against Klitschko was excuse-making.
As i clearly stated, he definitely did roll his ankle. Atleast in my experience, there are two different types of 'rolled ankles'. 1)You roll your ankle and it hurts like hell, you cant move or put any weight on it, and are limping around. and 2). You roll your ankle and it doesnt hurt, doesnt effect you and you can move around.
Judging by bradleys movements afterwards, nothing would indicate it effected him whatsoever. Just a simple case of him being outworked. Wheelchair...lmfao.
On a side note, I didn't find Pac-JMM III any more or less entertaining as a fight than Pac-Bradley.
Even tho a marquez fight would be more entertaining
/competitive, it would be much of the same old...
Id much prefer to see pacquiao go against bradley and righting the wrong.
11,12 indecisive? You can't be fuckin' serious. Lets be realistic here, the dick riding has to stop, Bradley decisively took rounds 1,10,11,12. 4 rounds you can not give to Pacquiao in my opinion. It's like the injustice to Tim isn't gonna stop, I'm sure Max knows he's wrong here.
Trolololol
You ever see Bradley's eyes kinda glazed over when he's clinching his way around the ring in the middle rounds? That was it.
On some real talk, during the fight i was kinda feeling bad for bradley. He was eating hard shots and couldnt return them, could do nothing but squirm away. I think his wife would have agreed (at the time).
Some can try and say that bradley outboxed pac, but the truth is bradley couldnt do anything effective, couldnt land anything effective. He only won what manny would give him. He was outclassed.
I had Bradley winning round 1. The only thing Pac did in round 1 was land two punches at the end of the round. Bradley landed his jab early in the round and caught Manny on the ropes and landed a good combination. In my opinion, you don't win a round for two late punches.
Bradley landed a couple of....jabs. He did have a flurry, but nothing clean landed. Pac landed the hardest, cleanest, signature punches of that round with those three lefts. I dont see anything bradley did being able to compare to those.
When you watch a fight the second time, you are not susceptible to the biased announcers and caught up in the excitement. You do seem to see it with a better vantage point.
Personally, second time watching it i couldnt help but think 'how the hell did they give it to bradley'
1, 10, 12 and toss up for 11. 11 not much was done on either side but both have claim at it. 10-10 neither stole the round or did anything substantial.
I think too many people are looking at Bradley's punches closer to look for reasons to give him rounds. Most shots from our view atleast show Pac blocking them. So i can't count those even if I try to be generous.
I cant see giving bradley the first round. Nobody did anything the first 2 1/2 minutes of that round (if anything bradley won that part....but didnt do anything but stick his jab out). Pac's three hard lefts won him that round imo.
So by roaches logic they made cotto better by having him take off some muscle with their catchweight?
Not saying i disagree witg roachs sentimenta...just saiyan

Mosley was way past it, didnt want to pull the trigger/exchange. There was a time when he would tho, and roach/pac didnt want any part with him. Cotto was slightly drained, and more importantly had a piss poor trainer/training, resulting in a sh1tty gameplan.
All jokes aside, this is the second week in a row when the ref makes a terrible call that could have gotten a fighter seriously hurt. Margarito last week and now this? I knew paul wasnt going to wake up for another week as soon as i saw him start to go down. The ref made a huge mistake. In a situation like that, yes; ten seconds is a long time.
i can excuse the margarito fight. boxing is not a sport for women, *****es, crybabies, etc. its two trained men, usually with a lot of heart. especially in the case of margo, where it only takes one punch. margo had plenty of chances to back out with his eye, but he kept going...cause he wanted to. i think the ref did a good job in giving marg the opportunity to back out, and not making it obvious.
but in the case of pwill, yeah, their was no reason to count. he was out. it was kinda creepy how he was out with his eyes wide open, like he was dead.
There's a little something dribbling out of your mouth..
It's foolish to think Cotto won't last all 12 with Mayweather, what's worse is Pac is 10x the offensive force Mayweather is and that's the only way to stop Cotto. Don't kid yourself, it's Mayweather who has very little chance of stopping Cotto's stalking. He has the probability of winning on his side but he won't stop Cotto from stalking him. He's not an old, hesitant Mosley.
i agree about may not stopping cotto. he wouldnt/cant. and op is right about no real mayweather fan wanting to see may fight cotto, cause no real mayweather fan wants to see may lose. Cotto has all the tools to beat may, including trainer. one of mays biggest weaknesses would would be the jab, and cotto has a hard, crisp jab. may likes to lean his head back, to avoid shots. well guess what, cotto is focusing on the body. may will either expose his body and hide his head, or he will get caught with punches to the head. itll be a tough, tough night for may, who may even earn his legacy, or will be exposed, and all these may nuthuggers will deny ever rooting for the guy.
edit: not saying its nuthuggin to root for the guy, but it is nuthuggin to say cotto has no chance, that cotto would be mays weakest opponent, marquez would beat cotto, etc...
lol at horus being a dumbass. cotto would beat marquez, rather easily. they would fight a ww, and marquez is too old and slow to be effective there. he's not taking gear, so he doesnt increase in power and/or speed with the weight gain. he said that himself, so argue with him.
lol at undercover flomo trying to convince public to be against cotto-may. cotto would be one of may's toughest opponents, maybe the toughest at ww. and yes, tougher than the aged mosley.
People underestimating Cotto's boxing ability again? Lets not forget, Cotto outboxed a younger, faster, stronger mosley...(Cotto's speed and boxing ability is still underappreciated). The fight would be alot closer than people expect.
Im not saying cotto is as fast as may(at least in terms of footwork), but Cotto is fast enough, and a great timer. I dont think May has the punch to be able to stop cotto, and im not sure may can last.
Steward has cotto back on the right track, improving footwork, balance, combo's, psyche, etc. And Cotto is back to targeting the body. It would be a damn good fight.
