i can excuse the margarito fight. boxing is not a sport for women, *****es, crybabies, etc. its two trained men, usually with a lot of heart. especially in the case of margo, where it only takes one punch. margo had plenty of chances to back out with his eye, but he kept going...cause he wanted to. i think the ref did a good job in giving marg the opportunity to back out, and not making it obvious.
but in the case of pwill, yeah, their was no reason to count. he was out. it was kinda creepy how he was out with his eyes wide open, like he was dead.
That is why the ref and the commission are there. to save the fighter from himself. What good is heart going to do if you cant even fight?
The guy was not moving a fiber in his body, was out before he hit the deck; and yes he did see him go down. He put paul's life in danger by doing that.
Williams wasn't getting up. How did he put his life in danger?
All jokes aside, this is the second week in a row when the ref makes a terrible call that could have gotten a fighter seriously hurt. Margarito last week and now this? I knew paul wasnt going to wake up for another week as soon as i saw him start to go down. The ref made a huge mistake. In a situation like that, yes; ten seconds is a long time.

It was a bad call. Williams wasn't rolling around or making any attempt to get up. He was laying there motionless, his eyes clearly stunned. He was typically out cold and in "no man's land" and the ref was right next to him looking at into his face, there's no way the ref should have misjudged that situation, it was a knockdown, it was a straight knockout.
Even if he didn't see the punch he couldn't of missed seeing PW crumble face first onto the canvass. He couldn't of missed the, initially, motionless body and the blank stare. PW was on ice! The signs were there and the ref missed all of them. Even after finishing the count the ref stays on his knees seemingly concerned but probably also realizing the silliness of his administration of the count.
The rules of a TKO / KO are not very clear.
When someone get's merked and is out cold and the ref stops it immediately then some consider it to be a TKO.
Yet Bayless didn't count Ricky Hatton I don't think and that counted as a KO.
Even though it's best for health and safety, I miss the days when a fighter was out cold and the ref counted to 10.
It looked very clear as soon as Paul landed on the canvas he was sleeping. His corner even ran in when the ref was counting Paul out lol..
I think the KO shocked everyone, including the referee. Before he realised what was going on, he was probabaly giving the count on instincts alone.
And that is why the ref is supposed to be proactive in there. I knew paul was gone from this dimension the second the punch hit him. I thought he was counting on instincs until i saw him pass 6 or 7; then it started getting dangerous.

i turned to my boyfriend in our hut and told him that this ref was not very good.
i remember that is the same ref that mess up the first round of mayweather-gatti.
Bakla & proud AHAHAHAHAHA :haha:
Maybe because he saw that pwill still had his eyes open & the ref thought he was just resting for a few seconds before getting up??
That's my best guess.
Yeah, I don't think he saw the punch or how PWill landed. That landing was scary.

Wouldn't have Martinez get a TKO instead of KO if the ref didn't count ? not that it matters but w/e.
No, still a ko; see grandpa mosley vs. mayorga for example
