Have you noticed better results doing them alone?
I don't pay much attentions to those magazines and books, honestly.

Chest and back is a popular routine for some people. I just don't like hitting the two main muscle groups on the same day. That's a **** load of compound exercises.

But I also don't do chest/tri's on the same day because you use your tri's so much during your chest exercise, that by the time you do your tri exercises, you're not working them at their full potential. And if you do tri's first, I feel like it limits the chest workout.

These are just my opinions, though. Everyone is different.

    • My tris get worked when I do chest.... I follow up at the end with some accessory work.. but ultimately they get worked by everything.

I have huge triceps (no new england) but seriously its prolly my best asset and I think its mostly from pushups and bench press.

      • I can almost blindly guarantee that your tri's are from mostly bench press. There's like, a handfull of people your weight that can bench double their body weight.

                      Damn...

I did 225 for 3 the other day I found that very difficult. It wasn't pretty very shaky..I bench well but military press has always been on the weaker side for me, maybe because I have only been really doing it with any consistency in the last 6 months.

But I find with military press even adding 5lb plates you really feel those extra 10lb...not like bench where you have to throw an extra 10 a side to actually feel it as the "next step"
