    ok, they are related, but not the same.

    A punch is not thrown at a constant speed, it is an acceleration all the way through until it hits, for instance.
    A punch IS thrown at costant speed (in modulo), but the acceleration change.

    unfortunately it is in italian and it is on karate punch, but the biomechanic is the same.

    I don't even understand what you're trying to say with your example, as it is complete nonsense.
    It's the first example you find in any physics book to teach you the difference between speed, acceleration and mass. It was an example made by Newton back in the days to demostrate that mass and speed are unrelated.

      Man I think you are acting rude because you don't to admit that you were wrong. First you made nonsense statement on speed and acceleration, secondly you state that they don't matter.

      How do you think biomechanics or kinesiology could exist without the fundaments of physics?

      You have first to understand the behaviour of a simple object like a ball on an inclined plane, before understanding a punch.

      A punch behaves like a Arbitrary-amplitude period pendulum, and I assure you this is the most complex kind of movement known by the human being.

        WTF does that even mean? A punch is thrown at a constant speed?
        It starts with the fist stationary, and ends up with the fist hitting the opponent at max speed (if thrown correctly) before it is halted and pulled back. That is obviously an acceleration until impact. If it was thrown at a constant speed, it would start at, say, 5mph and continue at 5mph all the way through.

        Great job with the reference people in here can't read too!

        I'm acting rude, because the two of you are twistring this into something completely different, and making a piss poor job of it, with your worthless references (since they're in Italian and I can't read what the hell it says), and incomplete, nonsense sentences that don't mean anything in English (which is my second language too, by the way).

        Edit: Actually Hearnsz sorta does make sense, but I think he misunderstood what I meant for one. Secondly, he's overanalyzing things. Who cares if everything is in motion theoretically, when it is a useless assumption for the sake of understanding how to throw a punch, and how to train for it.

          But this is no news because in the 19th physician found out that when throwing a punch energy is accumulated in the ligament and tendons, that's why acceleration vary but speed remains constant in modulo.

                      I posted two different paper from two different source that states the same thing.

                      Btw the final speed is again 0, unless you keep you hand movin. But I prefer to keep it in stance, or the speed are opposite, since once I move forward, then I move backward. didn't you thought about this?

                      It's written in the paper man, is basic physics, just go read it.
