i noticed that too tapout, affliction, , lol mmgay is a fashion trend.

boxing stood the test of time.

    • The reason more younger people are wearing Tapout and Affliction is because MMA crushes the 18 and older demographic. MMA appeals to the younger crowds more than boxing.

While will agree that wearing it makes you look like a giant tool (especially if you don't fight or train) it's more proof that MMA is becoming more and more mainstream and rising in popularity all the time.

      The sport is infectious.

Say what you want about it being gay, it's not going anywhere and you'll still be sitting where you are complaining about it.

          • Boxing = Better Athletes (For Now)

I apologize if this has been said, but of course "tomorrow" S.S. would take Mayweather down and submit him or ground and pound him. Just like "tomorrow" S.S. would get killed by Mayweather in the ring. The "tomorrow debate" is a waste of time and ridiculous.

The more interesting question is who would win if Mayweather had a year or two to train MMA?

Answer, Mayweather would destroy S.S. In my opinion, right now, the top boxers are superior natural athletes than the top MMA guys.

Boxing is older and those that aren't big enough for football (hence the lack of heavyweights), tall enough for basketball, or have the space for baseball, have historically been drawn to boxing. There are not 'many' or maybe even 'any' MMA guys that were great athletes and chose MMA at an early age.

The best athletes 5-10 years ago were not choosing MMA because it barely existed in its current form and there was no money to be made. The guys at the top of MMA now are there because of experience and not 'necessarily' because they are best athletes. Meaning, some MMA guys are at the top because of their athletic abilities.

My opinion, if you took the top boxers and started them in MMA alongside the start of all the top MMA guys, there would be more boxers at the top of MMA right now. This is of course not an absolute statement. There are MMA guys that are probably better athletes than some top boxers. (for example GSP v. Valero).

Something that really discredited MMA was Brock Lesner winning the Heavyweight belt. That would simply never happen in boxing. No one is crossing over to boxing to win any title without years and years of training.

Give MMA some time to grow and to put up gyms in inner-cities and my guess is the percentage of great athletes in MMA will increase exponentially.

            • It looks like it has been said, but my conclusion is that many boxers could train in MMA for a few years and do DAMAGE. If MMA guys trained for a few years in boxing they would get nowhere.

and again as stated even a 12 year old wearing 4oz mmgay gloves can hurt someone, that says something doesn't it??

the 4oz gloves requires less hand speed, less power, and less skill to produce the same effect of what a boxer can produce while wearing 8oz 10ozs,

Im not saying mmgay gloves are ABSOLUTE *****, its just relative ***** in comparison to boxers' 8oz 10oz gloves.

have u ever sparred in 16oz gloves? probly not but I have and I along with any boxer on here can verify that the 16oz are heavy gloves that slow you down and take away your speed and power, now apply the same logic : 16oz are to 8oz as 8 oz to 4 oz, if you still cant accept the fact that mmgay ***** 4oz gloves then your are either incredibly ****** or ignorant.

I have sparred before in 16oz and yes i know they are heavy, which protects us more at the smae time. Anyway, your gun and knife comparsion is a little off. I guess if you don't like something, you will not like anything about it eh? And NO, i don't see 4 oz gloves as *****. Nor do i have anything against 10 oz gloves. You seem desparate to verify you point. Haha, anyway I love and respect both boxing AND mma. Don't know why people can't do that.

                  • Anyway, here is a match between a kickboxer and a pure boxer. I know it is not an MMA match but it is still painful to watch for boxing fans. This will happen if a boxer is not prepared for leg kicks. All the beautiful footwork counts to nothing. OK i know the boxer might not be TOP notch... but still....

i compare the 4oz to the gun becuase it is that much more deadly and that much easier to inflict damage with compared to the knife (8 oz). even though both weapons are effective. So which weapon is easier and takes less skill to use for the purpose of killing? a gun of course (4oz)

I think this is a spot on analogy.

see your arguing for the guy taking the punch and im arguing for the guy throwing the punch.
