If a washed up Ray Mercer and Tommy Morrison can KO these bums, then imagine what one of the elite like Pacman and Mayweather would do!!!!! Also, remember when Shannon Briggs KO'd that MMA bum in K1. The funny thins is Mercer and Briggs have long left the boxing radar, but their MMA bum opponents were highly rated in their sport!

Tim Sylvia was ****** enough to try to stand with Mercer and got what he deserved. Had he taken him down like he should have, the fight would have been over even quicker because Mercer would have tapped before Tim even threw a shot from inside open guard
May I remind you as well that your Journeyman boxer was choked out by Kimbo Slice in under 2 minutes.
Oh Imagine this, imagine that. **** off. If an MMA fighter goes into a fight with a boxer and sticks to a gameplan of working takedowns, subs and ground and pound. The boxer wouldn't make it out.
Exactly! The only boxers who get beat in MMA were **** at boxing and failures. Not even journeymen. Even when second rate fighters and contenders like the ones I mentioned go to MMA, they knock them the FUCK out!!! Imagine what would happen if the best boxers went there, lol. Humiliation for a fad that won't last anyway
A fad that won't last long? Sure. Keep telling yourself that

9/10 a boxer will lose to a Mixed Martial Artist.

I do realise that there are tons of boxing hardcore fans here in this forum...... i do agree that boxing wins in terms of money for highest paid fighters and the look of "polishness'' in the sport.
BUT in a terms of fighting with kicks, knees, edlows, subs, takedowns etc.., MMA fighers wins most of the time. And of cos MMA is more popular than boxing right now. Hell.... most of my friends who know nuts about fighting could name a few UFC fighters
Anything can happen to a fight. If a MMA fighter goes head to head striking with a boxer like what Tim Sliva did, i am not surprised that he lost. Tim sliva lost to Fedor in less than 30 secs a months before the mercer fight. Are boxing hardcore fans going to say that Mercer will win Fedor EASILY as well??

I like both sports.....
Here is my summary
Top Dog vs Top Dog
MMA match= MMA fighter wins 9/10
Boxing match= hmmmm...Boxer wins 9.5/10??
Money---Boxing (Boxing been around forever)
Excitment---- I will give it to MMA (although both sports got their share of boring matches)
Brutality= MMA
"Polishness"= Boxing
More popular currently----MMA
Better PPV-- MMA.
Boxing got a few big ppvs a year with big names, but MMA ppvs and are frequent and their cards are better overall. (i know many people will disagree)
Easier to master--- Both are tough sports
Fitter Fighters-- Might give it to boxers....
Worse for the head--- boxing

Good post here.
Although I'd give fitter fighters a edge to MMA. Grappling in itself requires you to be a lot more conditioned and requires a different level of being in shape. Rounds are longer as well so that adds to it.
Worse for the head probably does go to boxing but it depends on the fighter and their style. Someone like Nogueira for example

Like I said the implication Grappling requires a higher and different level of strength and conditioning.

The human head isn't designed to take punches and kicks. When you are in a combat or any physical sport, it's almost inevitable unless you're like Machida or Floyd Mayweather who hardly ever get tagged clean.
So MMA fighters and boxers will all have their share of brain trauma. Boxers will just traditionally have moreLast edited by TheNegation; 06-29-2009, 02:57 PM.
