No, I didn't lose respect for him...I like to bust his balls since he is supposed to be a "Mexican" fighter, but he did the right thing by boxing the way he did...Rocky was the younger, stronger, and harder puncher, it wouldn't be to bright to fight his fight.Comment

I agree with some of you and I too was disappointed with Rocky. I cannoot understand why he did almost absolutely nothing during the fight. I kept waiting and waitng around for him to do something and it just never happened. I t was like he didn't want it, he had to know that if he wanted the title he had to go and take it. I was shocked. I mean yes Barerra controlled the fight, but I tgink part of it was because Rocky let him, by putting absolutely no pressure o n him and just waiting around. Even in the late rounds he did nothing. I like Rocky but was very disappointed.Comment

Seriously I think your mad coz PBF did the same to Castillo
In boxing your supposed to hit and not get hit...

No of course not, he boxed Juarez' ears off. Sure it wasnt an explosive fight but he pulled out a legitimate and decisive W. Cant really say that makes me loose respect.
And Chavez and Barrera are and have always been completely different fighters. Barrera has always been more of a counterpuncher applying his boxing technique on a back foot, and Chavez applied his boxing technique going forward.
Barrera's only time he made me loose respect is when he went on a trash talking spree all over mexico after the first Morales fight, and then when he wanted to quit against pacquiao in their fight in the 7th round i believe it was.
I think this fight with Juarez, Barrera showed he still can get in condition and be a force. Basically he still got some left in him.Comment

Honestly, asking a simple question does not imply that those are my beliefs in the situation whatsoever.
And liking a certain fighter and his accomplishments does not imply bias towards him, either.
The point is that the main event of one of the most anticipated fight cards of the year was a bait and switch. Barrera went along with the premise that he was giving the younger guy another chance and that he would overcome. I am sure that 11 thousand people would not have bothered to show up to the gate if they thought that the legendary MAB, the great warrior thought of as a close successor to Chavez was going to be on his bike all night and not even stand once.
Against Hamed, Barrera put together combinations and had many periods in the fight when he dominated. He did not simply box that night.
Against Juarez, he just wanted to get the kid out of the way so he could have a chance at Pacquiao. He acted like he wanted to get into a fight by tapping his chin, then he would floy off in the other direction.
It was a business decision untypical of Barrera, that's why I asked the question of everyone.
P.S. Go snatch a purse, ****head.Comment

This fight was a shame.
MAB owed it to the paying fans to give a good fight.
Not run like a chicken for 12 rounds.
Seriously, if the masses who paid the tickets and bought the PPV knew of what MAB will do, do you guys think they will ever get that much money out of it?
This is a shame because MAB just suckered the fans into believing he will try to finish strong and not run like a chicken for 12 rounds.
And btw.... for the ******s.
There is a hell of a difference between running and boxing.Comment

Someone with a brain just joined the discussion.
Barrera didn't even tell De La Hoya until after the fight that he was going to beat him with the jab; De La Hoya admitted to being at ringside thinking what the **** is this?
Even De La Hoya, well out of his depth against Hopkins, at least tried to make a fight of it and throw combinations.
This performance from Barrera may even lessen the money involved with a Pacquiao rematch because he stunk the place out and people will think twice, or it will cast a doubt in their mind about going to see it knowing he has the potential to lock the fight out.Comment
