I like castillo but i wouldnt call myself a "fan" i just like that avatar I just really enjoyed that fight. -
At any given time any one of you defending Barrera might be taken by the mood that he should have at least tried to fight Juarez as advertised and wouldn't be in such strong opposition to the nature of this thread.
You are in denial.
If Barrera wanted to fight, he should have fought instead of acting like he wanted to trade before running for all he was worth.
All of the Meixcan fans that have supported him his whole career are mindless, bloodthirsty idiots?
Mexicans know their boxing and respond to bull**** when they see it.
It was a calculated move that was more about the lawyer in Barrera than the warrior.
I am not saying it was wrong, and I am not saying people should lose respect for him, but it was completely out of character and a shock considering what we were ALL expecting, which was a war.
Barrera diffused that and killed the main event of what was supposed to be the biggest card of the year in terms of back to back quality fights and excitement.
It's the same thing that made Lennox Lewis respected but not loved. Winky Wright a factor in world terms but not sought after by as many fans as you'd expect for someone in his position.
At least Wright admits 100 percent that he does not want to be in a war, and Lewis' philosophy was always about not giving your opponent the opportunity he doesn't have.
People turned up to see those guys knowing what to expect and were rarely disappointed because of that.
You can't say the same for last Saturday night and Barrera no matter what.Comment
