What did you think of Larry Merchant as a commentator?

I liked Larry and thought he called it as he saw it. One time the discussion of the WBA and their ridiculous proliferation of fake title belts came up and Larry said "To quote Marlon Brando - I could have been a contender, I could have been somebody, I could have been an Interim Champion."

Merchant was a good commentator, had his flaws, but vastly superior to many behind the mic right now.
Compared to Bernstein, Tessitore, Kellerman, and Ramallo he's the epitome of unbiased analysis.

Didn’t like him. He was always trying to be too poetic, talking like a writer. He was also argumentative for having such basic knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport. He was one of those dudes who just figured a guy getting outclassed, could just “do more” and change the fight.
