What did you think of Larry Merchant as a commentator?

I really enjoyed Larry. He's missed. He didn't toe the party line like these network guys today.


I still remember Floyd telling Larry he wanted to fight Prince Hamed next and Larry just laughed and said "he won't fight you, Floyd"

You do have a few good commentators. Showtime has the most, Paulie, ESPN only has a couple.

DANZ by far has the worst bunch of commentators.

The team in ShoBox is probably one of the better ones.

I always remember his admiration for Evander Holyfield, during the second Lewis fight.

48 minute 25 second mark and on-wards. Just always stood out to me, but of course? I would like sometimes how he would stay silent, then suddenly say something of great magnitude.

Larry was the man back in the day. He took a dive the last 3+ years of his commentating though. Would basically crap on all fighters who weren't there to just slug it out for his enjoyment

The only fighters I’ve seen Larry attack were black. Does that make him racist. Not necessarily but it certainly tips the scales that way.
