I think Floyd could hold his own against anyone from any era at 130-147.

Not saying he beats everyone, he'd take some Ls. But he would always be competitive and a difficult fight for anyone. Like I think Hearns would beat Floyd, but he wouldn't destroy or dominate him like a lot of people would think. Same with Leonard.

154 is a stretch though, Floyd was small at this weight class.

I never compiled my own ATG list, but I have no problem if anyone puts Floyd or Manny in their top 10.

Mayweather was the best fighter overall. He retired undefeated as a professional and was pound-for-pound one of the best fighters in the world.” “The best skills were none other than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Floyd is the best overall [fighter that I fought in my career

He is absolutely a great boxer. Exactly where he falls, who knows. Comparing eras in sports is tough. In boxing it is especially tough. Also, add to that comparing all different weight classes.

The man was a great boxer and an ATG boxer-businessman. Very few holes in his game and at one or two weight classes, you would give him a good shot vs anyone all-time.

Floyd is also small for historical 147 division

His shoulder width and height and doesn’t compare to the 147 ATGs

After thinking about it for a bit and writing some names down, I'd say there's a case for top 20-30, but definitely not top 10:

16 Who Are Definitely Greater IMO: Jimmy Wilde, Joe Gans, Jack Johnson (though this is mostly eye-test/sentimental tbf), Benny Leonard, Gene Tunney, Harry Greb, Barney Ross, Henry Armstrong, Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Ezzard Charles, Muhammad Ali, Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler, Pernell Whitaker

18 Who Are Arguably Greater: Sam Langford, Harry Wills, Tony Canzoneri, Joe Louis, Charlie Burley, Archie Moore, Sandy Saddler, Rocky Marciano, Eder Jofre, Emile Griffith, Jose Napoles, Carlos Monzon, Salvador Sanchez, Tommy Hearns, Julio Cesar Chavez, Evander Holyfield, Ricardo Lopez, Manny Pacquaio (and probably a lot more I can't think of rn, especially old school guys)

Depending on how you rate Pacquiao and Holyfield, then, Floyd definitely has a strong case for #1 since 1990.. I would personally rank him ahead of contemporaries like Oscar, Calzaghe, B-Hop, RJJ, JMM, MAB, Morales, Tito, and Tyson, although I've seen ppl argue otherwise. Also, he's probably a top 5 defensive fighter (I'd put Sweet Pea, Pep, and Ali ahead of him).

Ultimately, what separates Mayweather from the guys at the top is the fact that he didn't fight many ATGs in their PRIMES... He doesn't have a definitive win like Tunney over Greb & Dempsey or Hagler over Hearns (though that Canelo W is looking better with each passing year... Pacman was well past-prime). Plus, as a modern boxer fighting 2x a year in an era where refs have all but shut down the savage physicality of yesteryear, there is simply no comparison to the old school. The 50-0 is kind of a moot point when you compare it with Wilde's 92-0-1, Chavez's 87-0-1, or Sugar Ray's 92 win streak.

To me, I can only compare fighters I have seen. I can't say how great Ali or SRR were really, as they were before my time. I have been watching boxing since the early 90's,. from around the age of 9, and the best two boxers I have seen in my time are Mayweather and Tyson Fury. I think it will be a long time before we see the likes of either again. Mayweather was amazing. And with Fury, will a fighter with his skillset, speed and ring IQ, at his height, ever come around again?

Lets call it what it is. Floyd outpointed a past prime Manny who had previously been ko'd, in unspectacular fashion. The fight was inconclusive at best with Floyd clinching for 12 rounds. The fight was a big letdown given the buildup.

You could say Floyd would always best Hatton, Corrales, and Canelo because he beat those guys in their prime, but not those guys he fought past their prime.

you can read right? see how manny surpassed all floyd's record by a wide margin. just because the 7 loses you have disregarded the rest? even with that lost floyd won't go near pac's achievement.
