This whole phenomenon is embarrassing and tacky. It turned out to be a slippery slope that we fell down when Mayweather v McGregor was made. I blame those two for starting off this trend (that was an exhibition in all but name, it was never a legit contest) but I blame everyone else who came after and piggybacked onto the gravy train just as much. Imagine a week on Sunday, the biggest game in American Football was Tom Brady and the Bucs playing a team who’d never professionally played football before but had 10m followers on YouTube. It’s absolutely laughable.
