It’s the mass monetisation of it which is the difference. Floyd exploited these circus fights to make crazy money which has made it a far more attractive proposition to other fighters, celebrities, YouTubers etc.

As I said I can’t question his enterprise but I can question his morals because he knows sh** like this will damage the sport. Floyd has cashed in at the expense of the sport when he didn’t even need too.

Pacquiao’s morals in regard to boxing haven’t sank anywhere near as low as Floyd’s yet. If he does this circus sh** I’ll rightfully question his too.

Yeah this has happened before, but Mayweather started the tend of shilling it hard to gullible casuals and selling it as a massive PPV that eclipses everything else. Hardly anybody gave a rat's ass about what a washed-up Toney was doing, Mayweather was basically (and probably still is in many people's eyes) the face of the sport. Now these clown fights get more media attention and buzz than legit contests. Mayweather's especially bad at this because he deliberately announces his latest circus fights in a way that the news overshadows whatever the highest-profile legit fight at the time is, because he just can't seem to stand being the centre of attention.
