When I dislike someone it usually lasts forever. I can see mediocrity and poor character from a mile away so it hasn’t happened in a long while. Last time it happened was with Malignaggi. I thought he was some cocky pretty boy that was going to fold like a lawn chair when he was in a tough fight. Turned out to be a tough as nails fighter with no quit.
Boxers you talked sh.t about but changed your mind with one fight?

Mine would be AJ but in a different way.
I talked crap about him then he lost to Ruiz and I realized he was worse than I was actually saying.Comment

Bute was certainly highly rated at the time yeah. Bute was the heavy favourite.
I’d picked against Froch every fight (outside of Mack) from Pascal to Bute and he kept proving me wrong for the most part.
Bute once again I expected to beat him easily and he totally destroyed him.
From that moment I was a fan.Comment

Naoya Inoue. Although I did have some gut feeling that he was a rising star, still, at first, I thought he was just good enough to beat taxi drivers in Japan and I was not sold on him until WBSS. His fight with Nonito showed that he has lion's heart, iron will and a good set of tools and idgaf that people are saying that Nonito was a wash-up by that time. I bet he still can give hell to anyone in bantam right now.Comment

I used to despise Naseem Hamed, but he managed to turn me into a quasi-fan.
I thought that Tyson Fury was a nobody after seeing him knocked down by Cunningham. Had to eat my words (and won some money betting on him vs Klitschko in the process).
I hated Oscar De La Hoya with all my might. After he got massacred by Pacquiao, that hate turned into pity. It lasts to this day, especially after the drag scandal.Comment

Eubank Jr
I don’t think he’s that great or anything, but when he started, a lot of people thought he was just a gimmick and won’t even get past area title level.
But he’s beaten some solid enough names, Nobody great and he hasn’t won a world title, but still went much further than I expected at first.
Also Josh Warrington. I thought he was just gonna be some feather fisted domestic contender. A few years ago, there’s no way many people thought he would compete with the likes of Frampton, never mind win. Still think he lost to Kid Galahad though, but the fight was so bad, so I didn’t care.Last edited by deathofaclown; 12-23-2020, 10:28 AM.Comment

Super underrated I just wish guys like golovkin and canelo were at middle when he was peaking. Around the time golovkin came on the scene martinez body was breaking down mad crazy, hands knees elbows..Comment

Not with one fight, but Jermell Charlo
My post history will show me criticising him for weak opposition and for him being the weaker brother
He has proven me wrong. The kingpin of arguably the strongest division in the sport. His brother needs to take notesComment
