Not sure what to make of the 'wins' this weekend

I wanna resurrect the Canelo vs Fielding threads where Canelo was criticised for not fighting Callum Smith as Callum Smith is the real champion and Canelo would never fight Smith.

But when we are presented with new info - like how Smith looked vs Ryder, should we not change our opinion about him?

Haha. Yeah that Wade fight was funny. He actually seemed like a decent prospect, but then when he shows up with a beer belly to fight GGG, you're like, wtf lol. Then he didn't fight for 3 years after that. I wouldn't deem him, or Rolls, a scrub, but I've never really rated those wins for GGG.

Your comment on Smith is kind of my point though - I can't buy him as the number 1 guy at 168 - not after what Ryder did to him, and then last night, I mean yes Canelo looked really good - but Smith looked like he had nothing.

I honestly threw the GGG fight comment in as an afterthought - I thought GGG was a bit shot coming in, but he looked really good last night. So not sure what to make of the win. Not sure where Kamil really is. Could be top 10, maybe only top 30, who knows.

Odds are Kamil is like 10-15 at MW, and Callum is still top 10 somewhere. Wasn't comparing the opponent level really at all - just was comparing the fact that I don't know what to make of the 'impressive' performances for each guy.



Yes even if Kamil is around top 10, which I personally think he is (yes Hugo Centeno, wherever you are, I'm ranking him ahead of you), I think that style was a good matchup for GGG - not sure what to make of the performance from GGG.

And Smith, I mean idk what to make of the guy. I was a believer after the Groves fight. But after Ryder I was like, man this guy sucks. Now, I just don't know what to make of him, or what is going on with him.

The guy who faced Groves and won the WBSS was surely better, no?

Canelo was favored by -450 to beat Smith.

If need MORE help I can break down what that means and give u and EXACT % chance both underdogs had of winning.

both were impressive i thought smith didnt perform as well as i thought he was going to but maybe that was due to the way canelo fought. where as ggg looked good from the get go and the fight went the way most expected it to im just not sure how good hes opponent was or whether ggg improved from the derevchenko fight or not

we all know callum just lost to ryder though so only fanboys would pretend otherwise. you could say he was the champ which is true but then again he only beat groves who was at the end of his career which was plagued by losing to the best fighters he faced. right place at the right time but no real talent there. when you see an easy mark you take him down which is what canelo did. when you see a real threat you fight amir khan and liam smith instead or change divisions. as trumpy says it is what it is

Off top of my head I'm pretty sure Daggum was saying Canelo was ducking Smith for fighting Fielding..

My overall point wasn't to compare the strength of the challenger. It was to question how impressive the win was for each guy.

I think Kamil is probably around like 8 at MW, and Smith around like 5 at SMW, for what it's worth. Both divisions seem a little top heavy for the first 5 or so, then there is a bit of a drop off.

I'm just not sure if Smith is really top of the heap for SMW. That was my main point. Really not sure what to make of him right now. Looked really poor his last 2 fights.

Szeremeta was just slightly above Steve Rolls-level. Slightly. At least he wasn't wearing an ankle monitor bracelet like Dominic Wade, though.

The odds makers don't care about agendas and bullsh×t. If you check the odds they will tell you who was seen as having the tougher opponent this weekend.
