yeah the amazing callum smith lmao. the dude just lost to john ryder who is a blown up 160 pounder himself. lets not overrate him. he would have been lucky to be top 5 if the judges got it right.

Fair analysis. If they matchup again, it would be interesting to see what impact the jab has this time. It backed Canelo up in fight 1, Canelo was less bothered by it in fight 2 and the fight was largely in the middle of the ring.

Now, would he be less affected and march forward, and would GGG have to really show a part of his game, at 39, that we have never really seen?

Part of me feels like DAZN is going to force that fight, but hopefully we get some good matchups around 160-168 next year. A lot of good options.

? I said he may be top 10. He is ranked top 10, number 3, in one of the organizations. That's how he got this fight. Ranked number 6 by The Ring too.

That wasn't really the point of the post but thanks for the reply.

That's all part of me is saying about that fight. Who tf knows what Smith is at this point. I certainly don't. Maybe he is top 5 and Ryder is one of the best at 168, idk.

Callum Smith was the Ring Magazine champ at 168 lbs.

Szeremeta was just slightly above Steve Rolls-level. Slightly. At least he wasn't wearing an ankle monitor bracelet like Dominic Wade, though.

Weight classes aside, I would have to pick Ryder over Kamil, pfp. He has no notable win, aside from his robberies. But he at least has shown us more at this time than Kamil.

I don't think they are beyond comparison though. It is funny that in a way Smith got beat badly by a guy about equivalent to the rating of Kamil a year ago.

I rated Smith as the top dog at 168 15 months ago, but now I really have no idea what he is, or even what happened to him.

Personally (controversial take I know), I thought the jab was just as big a difference maker the second time. Canelo kept getting caught by it coming in, so they landed harder this time around (Canelo got out jabbed 118-59 in the second fight). That's why you never saw GGG's back on the ropes the way you did with Kovalev/Smith and these other guys.

well 168 is god awful right now. we are in between eras it seems. like when federer started winning grand slams it was because sampras retired, agassi was old and none of the young guys his age panned out, then when nadal and djokovic came up his win percentage fell off a cliff. if a guy like callum smith and john ryder are considered the best we are between eras waiting for real comp.

Szeremeta is a Euro level contender with a little more international level competition lately, didn't matter much due to not having much power to get any respect from GGG.

Smith is a Euro level champion with less international level completion, who's biggest win is over a similar Euro level Brit champ Groves.

It was a weekend of target practice.
