In terms of building fighters as a real star, He might be overrated. He got lucky with Joshua but when you think of all the other Olympians he got, a lot of them are pretty much treading water.

Frank Warren has developed more real stars. Not recently though.

In terms of putting on big events and the aesthetic’s of the events, from press conferences, to the arena production etc, I think Hearn is the best. He takes real pride and putting on a good event in terms of production and giving people an experience, which I respect.

When Haney signed with Matchroom - he was the biggest young talent in the US. He was bigger than Garcia, Tank and Teofimo Lopez. However, isn't it funny that they have all surpassed him, in terms of starpower? Haney was meant to be the next big in US boxing - the new Mayweather. However, due to terrible matchmaking and Hearn's inexperience - Haney's star has dimmed a bit whilst the rest are on the fringe of becoming PPV stars.

In boxing, being a teflon promoter with a loudmouth, reminiscent of Puff Daddy in the 90s (all up in the videos) doesn't give your boxers notoriety - it only makes the promoter popular. Boxers become popular based on how they're matched, the highlight reel that comes from their fights, their level of talent, who they beat, etc.

Haney had no business fighting Gamboa. He gained nothing from the fight and it dimmed his starpower.

      Hearn made AJ.

      Match making, marketing etc

Every promoter has one fighter who they make and invest $$$$ in

Some Brits Overrate him absolutely! Good promoter though but his "Take Over Of America" has failed miserably as expected because he came over very arrogant and extremely Naïve and that turned fans off immediately and they started to root against DAZN because of Eddie Hearn

LMAOOO. You obviously have no clue.

AJ had the worst matchmaking in HW history for a novice but he was good enough to survive and that’s why I believe he’s the best of this generation by a mile. The guy barely had an amateur career but was rushed.

I don’t even think you know who AJ was before he turned pro. How many boxers do you know have sell out crowds in their debut pro fight? AJ did that.

No, Josh made Hearn the same way Mayweather made Al Haymon. A guy like Canelo for example was made by DLH while Mike Tyson was made by Don King and TV Networks looking for a new boxing superstar.

He's a good promoter in the UK. Not so much in the US.

Promoters don't manage boxers. Their job is to develop boxers, matchmaking and market/promote them into stardom.

And when you look at the 3 things I listed up ^^^ Hearn is pedestrian in all 3. Matchroom doesn't know how to develop boxers, hence there's no promising young talent with starpower on Matchroom ATM apart from Haney who was already popular before he joined them. Matchroom might be the worst in boxing when it comes to matchmaking and they've ruined a lot of boxers. And Teflon Hearn does more to promote himself than his promote his boxers.

The only argument people make for matchroom is money. But what's the point of getting paid to get your career ruined in an unnecessary fight in short term, when you can 10x that in long term? That's where matchmaking comes in. Look at Kell Brook for example: if he hadn't fought GGG - he would've most likely beaten Spence and be in the mix for all the money in the 147 division right now. Dillian Whyte had no business fighting Povetkin since he's already guaranteed a mandatory and I said it when the fight was made. Buatsi had no business fighting the guy he fought since he has been inactive for a long time and because of covid. Josh Kelly got ruined in New York in a fight he was too green for. AJ had no business fighting Andy Ruiz on short notice for his US debut. And I won't be surprised if Okolie get ruined by Glowacki in Dec because I don't think he's ready.
Which Eddie has done very well. I don't know what you are talking about.

He is better than Haymon, that is for sure. Haymon can`t even make heavyweight fights between his fighters.

And yeah, hearn made hw division more popular. By promoting guys like Joshua, Whyte, Chisora etc and hyping their opponents.

He's a good promoter but not a very good matchmaker.

I think he does well with the media side of things and reaching a broad audience, selling tickets and getting dudes paid, but he will often make weird fights, either putting in ticket sellers with risky, low reward opponents or simply matching two horrible styles up making for a garbage fight.

Theres pros and cons to him
