Yep. Between Hopkins/ODH in 2004 and Canelo/JCC jr in 2017 the only boxing matches that broke a million buys involved Floyd or Pac.

The UFC has been a more consistent PPV draw for a long time now.

Showtime isn't hurting over this result. The alternative was just putting it on regular Showtime and pull even more money from their budget.

Would love to see some of these cards on regular SHO on a Friday or Tuesday just to see if they do a better job of attracting casual fans.

PPV is killing boxing in America.

If they really did 100K, that's tremendous.

Since that 04/05/06 sort of period it seemed the middle-of-the-range type boxing ppv's really dropped off badly. I used to keep track of ppv buys and after that period, where UFC got hot, they cooled off a bit but their average ppv's were still doing solid 200-400k number and they'd have big ones for Brock Lesnar or whoever else became big.

Boxing up to that point had been the same, big Numbers for a few guys like Tyson or De La Hoya and steady numbers for the next tier down. Stuff like Vargas vs Mosley, for example, in 2006 could still get 400k buys and that was 2 guys considered to be over the hill. If the Charlos were fighting then they probably could do 300-400k but no one is in boxing anymore. If I could pinpoint any particular moment in time where UFC overtook boxing it'd be that Couture/Liddell/Ortiz rivalry than drummed up a lot of interest.
